Malcolm Bricklin is a genius and my automobile hero! I grew up about a mile from John DeLorean (who my dad worked for in Pontiac, Michigan) at "PMD" which stood for Pontiac Motor Division, and even though DeLorean had all the money in the world at his disposal from General Motors to design cars, Malcolm Bricklin was so far ahead of the curve and built cars that look amazing and modern today with a pittance of what GM spent and I would love to own one today.

Mesmerizing story by a fascinating man. His struggles that were followed by going bankrupt made me very sad while still admiring his strong will.

Awesome interview! You need to interview Barrie Wills. He worked for Delorean, Reliant, and other quirky cars....and he worked with Malcolm in the 80s.

Love Mr. Bricklin. Just learned about him. He had a chance to take a very dishonest turn during his pending bankruptcy from a corrupt Canadian premier. That dishonest turn could have made Malcolm's life much easier, -and he didn't take the bait. That's what I call: balls. Good for you Mr. Bricklin.

What I really dont understand is why AMC agreed on a deal to sell Bricklin the 360 engines in the first place if they saw it as a threat to their own sales.

I can't believe a video maker can setup a shot so well like this and mic up Malcom so well and still seem to be oblivious to the fact that if THEY are going to be the person asking the guest questions, people will want to HEAR the questions being asked. Don't you have TWO microphones??? I've stopped halfway through the video to write this. I guess I'm going to watch the rest of the video because Malcom Bricklin is very interesting and charismatic, but I'd like to be able to HEAR the questions that Malcom is answering without having to back up the video and crank up the volume just to hear you.

Fascinating interview. They do not make them like Malcolm anymore. Just one comment, ADD closed caption to the reporter's questions as the audio is very low.

Met Malcolm twice at the Bricklin car meets. The car itself, while not fast or built well, is still fun to own. Cooler than a stupid Corvette which any twit can have and not gimmicky at all. Malcolm also brought Fiat to the U.S. as well.

Bricklin says his vehicles have to be safe? And he imported the Yugo? He is a magical pied-piper/snake oil salesman. I do have to give him credit for bamboozling plenty of very smart people. Beautiful costs the same as ugly? Again, was the Yugo beautiful? Was the Subaru 360 beautiful?

Bricklin embellishes his role with Subaru. Subaru didn't get to where they are today because of Bricklin.

This guy was always a total joke, just like his namesake car and HIS Yugo. He never was a real auto expert, just a pretentious fraud.

It's clear that most of this guy's admirers weren't around or weren't paying attention in the 70s. Bricklin is a fast-talking con man. No more, no less. Even in this interview, decades later, he's passing the buck. Have the decency to grin, stare at the camera and admit you're a lying con man who got rich separating fools from their money.

So true planned obsolescence ... ugh. Design expense into the cars.
