I've owned an '06 G35 coupe (6MT, rev-up) for ~7 years, from ~50k miles to ~103k miles now. Had most of these problems, except the piston/valve issues. Most of my problems started around 95k miles. I also had to replace the rear diff. and had the thermostat fail. Also, the rev-up motor has 4 camshaft position sensors (not just 2)... found out the hard way when I was DIYing my failed ones. Nothing like a random buck and loss of power rolling through an intersection. Overall, it's a thrilling car to own, cheaper to maintain than other luxury coupes, and even at 15 years old, still turns heads. Likely trading it in for a G37X sedan later this week because at 6'2", the coupe is a tight squeeze and my mid-30s lower back can't take it anymore. 😂

@phuku29273 жыл бұрын
I have an 08 G35 (sedan) with the HR engine...2nd owner, had it since 2010....no problem with oil consumption. Did have issue with wheel hubs/bearings requiring change and also the fan for interior AC/heater (but it was super easy to replace). 185,000 miles on it and the water pump just went out. Decided to just swap for a 6.0 LS engine. Ironically, the early year LS engines did in fact have an oil seal piston ring issue, but...I'm doing a freshly rebuilt anyway. This has been a great car and I'd rather put $7,000 into a 500 horsepower basica N/A build that I already own f/c rather than go out and buy a another car. (and yes, for the hates who always say..."why put an ls into an infiniti, just get a corvette. I have to comment here. At the 4:36 mark you mention taking out spark plugs to determine which cylinder is misfiring. This tells me that you've never once changed spark plugs in one of these before. You have to remove the intake manifold to change spark plugs in these and you cant do that and run the engine. Plus, a proper scan tool will tell you which cylinder is misfiring.

Man I feel all of these "watch before you buy______ " are all the same. Look for oil leaks and watch out for normal wear on aesthetic pieces. Wow thanks mate I would never think to look at the car before buying it!

They all have their unique issues that pertain to each car. I do trow in the average common issues as well, because the people who watch these videos are somewhat ignorant. (Not in a bad way, just aren’t knowledgeable) I’m currently working in the GMC Terrain and most of the issues that pop up are due to user neglect because the inaccurate oil monitoring system the 90% of people listen to, which causes unique issues. These videos help a lot more folks then you think. Hope you are doing well Kevin!

@AutoMotivate3 жыл бұрын
Overall, yes! These are fantastic cars but with higher miles expect to replace the front lower control arm bushing, valve cover gasket, and coils going bad is a typical thing as well. Overall, it’s a pretty easy car to maintain. Be sure to get the proper years if you want to avoid to burning oil issue

There not that bad - i own one (05 model) & have owned for the last 4 years with 63,000 kms (Australia) & the only issue ive had is the usual _ passenger window regulator & drivers seat worn, apart from that it's an absolute beast! The way your carrying on we might as well take them to the scrap yard! How many miles or kms are you insinuating ee need to change piston/rings, gaskets & so on?

Definitely depends if you do them yourself or not. Taking any car to a mechanic can be pricy, and with it being a foreign car, they may charge more although it’s still simple to work on.

Can anyone please help and tell me why if I drive my 03 for more than 30 min when. I stop and park it it’s smoke from under my car. I’ve Alredy replaced the valve covers & gaskets and checked for leaks. I put leak sealant in the motor as well. She still smokes. Any ideas? Could bad catalytic converters smoke ? Could it be my stock y pipe?

Looking at an 07 g35 sedan auto with an 02 sensor that needs replaced. Worth fixing because the price on it is crazy low. It was his wife's car, so well taken care of. My question is, when I go look at it Tuesday, what should I pay most attention to? I'm aware of the 02 sensor and it losing 200rpm for a split second and will replace it. What's the main questions I should ask him and what should I primarily be looking at due to high costs on repairs? Thanks.
