Thank you, It has been awhile since I had seen one of these. Always enjoy these older (and simpler) ecu's for some reason.

Seems so simple but it's not. I wonder if the little traces or leads can arc between each other if too close? What is the minimum distance. Some of the repairs I see on boards like this look wavy and on the edge of touching. It's hard to fathom the confidence to stick a soldering iron against this board. You'd think it would melt more that intended. Wow 👏🏼

That's a good question, for IPC Class 2 the standard recommendation for minimum trace-to-trace spacing is 0.25mm (10 mil) for low voltage & 0.5mm (20 mil) for high voltage. I also covered everything with a nice silicone conformal coating after which helps ensure no moisture or vibrations causes issues later on.

since you were working on Ford EE4 system I was hoping for some guidance. 1995 Ford E350 7.5 litre. 3 KOEO Codes 558 EGR Control Solenoid Short to Voltage or Ground 629 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit fault 626 Coast Clutch circuit fault. I have ckd power ground and solenoid resistance all are ok. Codes appeared after a grounding lead from an old snap on counselor was connected to coil negative for cylinder balance shorting. This solenoid has its own diode. When I got the vehicle the solenoid was shorted. A new one was installed. The transmission circuits for #2&3 codes are not connected to anything else so I don't see how they would be related. My normal repair guys looked at it twice and find no faults on the board. I would be happy to pay to get it fixed but want to have some hope it is the box. The 558 ALWAYS pops up on Key On Engine Off test without interaction with EGR valve position sensor Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TY Gus

What kind of tools and supplies did you use?

The list is way too long. Once in awhile I'll post what I used in the description. This video looks like I was using amtec flux, rel22 solder, metcal solder station, quick hot air.

Are all automotive boards 5volt?
@ecurepair Жыл бұрын
5v logic circuits is most common (especially on older modules) but they use 3v a lot as well so it just depends on what it is.
