I went there this past summer. It's a "weird wheels" car guy's dream. Such a great museum with hidden gems in every corner and the staff is super friendly to boot. I highly recommend the basement tour to anyone who goes. I fell in love with the Honda City while I was there.

There's a goofy car museum in NZ like this, right next to a fashion museum. Ladies left, gents to the right, lol. They had a pink Honda City there, the Honda factory where they were built was right down the hill from the museum I think

As soon as he said there was a basement I was like "oh! that's where I'd go" uncertain if but optimistic that that was an actual possibility. Thanks for the comment. I even had a pitch all prepped "I'm from Vegas- I'll probably never get a chance to come back!" That would have been followed up wit a cash tip or crying.. hadn't decided yet.. glad to know I don't have to lol

These are the museums I love. This museum, obviously the Peterson for many different reasons when they do certain themes of “normal” cars, or rally cars, or Euro/JDM heritage centered shows, or concept tours, and I also love the totally original ideas like “the secret white Porsche collection” and “the secret Subaru barn”. Don’t get me wrong, supercar/hypercar museums are cool and totally deserve their place, but there’s only so many fresh off the line OE Ferraris and OE Lamborghinis that I can look at until they start to bleed together. Awesome museum tour man 🙌🏼 need to check this place out next time i get over to Nashville

@censport3 жыл бұрын
Yes, most of the collection we keep in "time capsule" condition, as they arrived. So dents, bumper stickers, tax discs, etc., are left as they are. We feel the story of how a car was actually used is as important as the designer's name, the top speed, etc.

Right in the Radwood section... My first bike. The Yamaha RD 350 LC YPVS (called something else in the States). Wow, a big DKW collection (Monza, 1000, 1000SP). Funny, those are the cars my late dad lusted after. For me it is Germany, late 70s, early 80s, AKA my childhood. So if you want to stay relevant, you have to adopt, otherwise: Either you go withe the time or you go over time (German saying, the real irony can't be translated). A nice shot was with that Mini car or Micro car, next to the BMW 502 (there was an elder gentleman who had one in my neighborhood) and the first Gen Renault Espace. My god, what did we abuse this car... From my POV most def worth a visit, when you live nearby. It is not about fast, luxury, sportiness, it is about being interesting. Being different, buy going other routes.

how much can the CAS/3D printing help these museums retain the driveability of these vehicles. if you could scan the parts as you take them apart and make them new again with CAS or 3D printing this would be amazing for historical engineering significance.

We do a lot of that. In fact, when we restored the Gyro-X, we scanned all the front suspension and steering components so we could design it all new with 10 degrees of rake. Original setup had no rake/caster. Now we can drive it!

He keeps commenting about how flimsy some of the toy cars are referring to them as death traps and I get it….. but what if if everything else on the road was just as small and fragile and . If you get hit in one with an escalade yeah you're toast but if every car was just as flimsy you'd probably live if you got hit by another one even if you were both at cruising speed.. am I wrong? It would seem car manufacturers went the route of bigger, heavier but most importantly more expensive automobiles in a chase for higher profits. Even if they are more dangerous- I'd bet people zipping around in what amounts to a scooter with a fiberglass shell pay far more attention and drive far more defensively than any soccer mom in her 7 passenger SUV.
