👍 I’ve owned both a MY01 GT and MY06 XT, did over 300,000km in the XT, great touring vehicles

The Forester is significantly better off road on steep and twisty trails. A better approach angle makes for less scraping and the shorter length makes it more manageable when you have to bail. In deep snow the OBW will be better with its greater ground clearance.

As someone who’s had both of these, I have to add that while at first look the Forester appears to have the better sunroof, I couldn’t disagree more. It’s definitely bigger, but unlike the Outback it has no tilt/vent setting. The tilt/vent allows airflow even when it’s raining, and it draws air out while moving. I actually use it even in the winter. Not being able to vent, the Forester sunroof was nearly useless to me.

Excellent comparison video, thanks. The Forester needs more guts, whether that’s from a turbo or even a hybrid system.

Thank you for your informative videos. Have you noticed any significant difference between them in regards to driving on the sand? I was watching another youtube video that compared the two going up a slightly steep sandy hill. The Forester made it up but the Outback did not. It was very surprising. The comment section gave various reasons for this. What is your opinion? Thank you!

I’ve driven my Outback over a lot of snow, small rocky roads off road, and plenty of dirt/grass but never sand. If they’re both on the same tire with the same PSI I wouldn’t know. Maybe the Forester weighing a few hundred pounds less floated on top better rather than sinking and digging in with the extra turbo torque. 🤷♂️😬

I had a Crosstrek wilderness, could not stand the absolute horrible 11.6' infotainment screen, slow, laggy, and a pain to adjust climate. Traded it in for a 2024 Forester Wilderness and couldn't be happier, would have gone with the outback if it wasn't for that awful screen.

I think I had said thank you for your videos on your Subaru's in a prior video. Got less than 4k miles on mine when I was rear ended by a girl going about 50mph. My rear drivers side wheel ended up on her hood. I got some good neck strain from whip lash and my service dog got really freaked out being hit that hard. But I drove away, my car is still drivable. I'm basically fine, my dogs a little shaken up. Her car is like a crumpled soda can. She was okay - She was also in a Subaru. I can't thank you enough. I'm really happy my service dog and I are basically chillin right now and I know it could have been a lot worse. (2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness vs 2009 Subaru Legacy)

Is the Forester under powerd?
@joesoria262416 күн бұрын
Compared to the Outback and other similar suv’s, yes. Even Rav4 TRD is a 2.5 L 4 cylinder and produces 203 HP.
@AutomotiveAnonymous20815 күн бұрын
It’s ‘good enough’ for what we use it for. You will mostly notice it’s horsepower anemic when giving it full throttle or passing slow moving vehicles on two lane roads. So more power would be appreciated, but if you know its limitations and you’re in no hurry then it will do just fine!

I get that, they’re not for everyone. I actually didn’t mind the CVTs in our Subaru’s too much. They work how they should and are overall pretty efficient. The problem is if they ever go out outside of warranty they’re 2x as much as they should be to replace. 🫠

@@edward5979 you also have the on going issue of the wheel bearings going bad
@danielroberto9183-w8j15 күн бұрын
I too would choose the Forester. Mainly because is cheaper than the Outback. As for essential buttons needed to be accessed through that monstruosity called center touch screen, the central issue is that most cars and suv's these days are moving into having all controls in their screens, albeit some don't come with that huge screen. But somethig of overriding importance to me is the propensity for Subarus' windshield developing cracks through no fault of the driver. One shells good money for their vehicles and if this issue isn't corrected soon and rapidly, I predict buyers will be flocking to the competition. Really good and realistic comparison AA.

@WangChung6916 күн бұрын
You sound like a car salesman, lol 😊. I did appreciate your presentation overall with one exception, most Subaru engines will easily last a couple hundred thousand miles with scheduled maintenance with the exception of the turbo engines. You can probably get 80,000 - 100,000 miles until the turbo burns out, and that is going to be an expensive repair. Agree or disagree, but that’s just my opinion.
@AutomotiveAnonymous20816 күн бұрын
Lol, I just really like Subarus after having owned a couple. I think turbos long term can be hit or miss. The cool thing is there’s now starting to be a lot of aftermarket support for the FA25DiT platform. So if something ever was to go out, for a similar price to a replacement you could upgrade the component, if that’s something you’re interested in. 🤩
