As an Ex Greek Airforce airman, I was stationed at TATOI in the military air academy 1986 this is such a monumental event that next time I visit Greece I will visit my old airbase .. Love from Australia chaps, a job well done :)

My Dad served with 252 Squadron flying Beaufighters in Libya until being shot down and taken PoW. He flew a couple of different Spitfires and loved the way they flew, but preferred the Beau due to its massive firepower. Dad had a really interesting war and was luck enough not only to survive, but flew sixty odd different aircraft in a variety of roles. Fantastic documentary guys so thank you for the production.

Having seen the Greek Spitfire in its previous state as a static display in the Athens war museum for decades , i had the pleasure of seeing the rebuilt result in Tatoi airport , where it is currently stationed (Hellenic air force museum) What an amazing amount of work it took to get to flying state. Big round of applause to all the engineers involved and to the man who funded the restoration.

George is a man I would have enjoyed getting to have a nice chat with. I’ve had lots of family who served during WW2 some pilots some airborne rangers others marine and navy as well as knowing many more who served. I’ll say this; those men from that time period were from a different breed. All wonderful people, won’t sugar coat anything and do t really put up with stupidity or laziness.

Wow. Such a wonderful story. I really enjoyed seeing this plane fly and listening to George tell his story. I also understand the importance of using an English Made Propeller. Myself being American, I pride myself with American Made products. Thank you for sharing the build.

IRON MAIDEN - Aces High There goes the siren that warns of the air raid Then comes the sound of the guns sending flak Out for the scramble, we've got to get airborne Got to get up for the coming attack Jump in the cockpit and start up the engines Remove all the wheelblocks, there's no time to waste Gathering speed as we head down the runway Got to get airborne before it's too late Running, scrambling, flying Rolling, turning, diving, going in again Running, scrambling, flying Rolling, turning, diving Run, live to fly Fly to live, do or die Won't you run, live to fly Fly to live, aces high Move in to fire at the mainstream of bombers Let off a sharp burst and then turn away Roll over, spin 'round to come in behind them Move to their blindsides and firing again Bandits at 8 o'clock move in behind us Ten ME-109's out of the sun Ascending and turning our spitfires to face them Heading straight for them, I press down my guns Rolling, turning, diving Rolling, turning, diving (doing it again) Rolling, turning, diving Rolling, turning, diving Run, live to fly Fly to live, do or die Won't you run, live to fly Fly to live, ACES HIGH !!! Got to admit it was emotional to see the old girl flying, she looks absolutely beautiful! Also to see the young fella taking on his father’s trade is an amazing thing, and something we need more of today. Too many of the old skills are being lost to time now, and we will regret their loss.

Simply an amazing series to watch. I would be happy to sweep the floor! Credit to the staff who are restoring these beautiful aircraft . Talk about job satisfaction....Having just returned from the Normandy Landing Beaches, it's fascinating to also hear the interviews with the pilots who flew these aircraft.

Words fail me, a magnificent achievement from all involved-it puts the word ‘Great’ Britain back to a time when everyone pulled together and were experts at what they all did. Pilots had to fly the machines, those on the ground had to build them and the rest had to support them, a brilliant team effort. A very moving video.
