Great video! Very informative. Bet the dealers hate you. Keep up the diligent work!!!

I only needed to replace the stem because the core was broken and seized inside the stem from corrosion. Was able to reuse the sensor. Got the silver, 43mm long stem from Napa auto parts. p/n 92-0170. It included a thin, .080" rod to insert into the small hole at the ball end to keep it from rotating while tightening the 11mm nut, as well as a new screw to mount the sensor. Instead of the rod to keep it from rotating, could also use the butt end of a 5/64" or Number 47 drill bit

Is it possible to use aftermarket valve stem- like Volks, Rays, Work, etc and match it to the sensor itself? Seems like it would work..

Thanks for this video. I was told there is a battery in these sensors that die after 6-8 years, so the sensor has to be replaced. Is this a fact in you experience?
@thefiestaguy8831 Жыл бұрын
This is correct. TPMS sensors have a small watch battery inside them, the battery lasts typically up to 8 years usually but can sometimes die within 5/6 years.

@@charlestucker6365 so it turned out when i got a tire replaced, the tire guy told me one sensor was damaged. He replaced it with the wrong one 🤦🏽♂️. I ended up replacing them all and it was all good. When I asked my mechanic about it, it’s always hard to tell which one is bad

@@Elpresiforever yeah they kind of just ended the video in the middle of the job. HOW DO WE SYNC THE NEW TPM SENSOR????
@thefiestaguy8831 Жыл бұрын
@@catfisher420 Re-learn through the iDrive system, go onto the TPMS sensor warning message and select "Perform reset". Supposedly you have to drive for at least 20 minutes for the sensors to be recognised as they are by default "off" from the factory and are effectively "asleep" so that the battery in the sensors doesn't die whilst they sit on a shelf in a garage or warehouse. When the wheels start to turn a lot of the newer sensors automatically "come to life" and start transmitting a signal to the control unit, sometimes this doesn't happen and you either need to place a magnet next to each sensor to kick it into life, or use a TPMS scanner and programmer tool. I use an Autel Maxi TPMS 508 which allows you to scan each sensor and provides tyre pressure and temperature, as well as programming new sensors in several ways including cloning the HEX ID from the old sensors to the new ones, that way the vehicle does not need to "re-learn" the sensors. The other way is to connect the TPMS tool to your OBD port, you can then download the TPMS Sensor ID's stored in the ECU to the scanner tool, and then you stand next to each sensor in each tyre one by one and hit "trigger", it will copy the HEX ID's stored in the ECU for each tyre originally to each new sensor.
