the other two main girls have something similar when it comes to experience with Rudy. Roxy's seen how precocious he was, but one can just think it's only that. Eris has seen Rudy write in Japanese (he took shopping notes in the language), but she can barely read or write anyway. This experience Sylphy has leaves the most explaining to do for Rudy.

I would actually add Psyculturists to that list as well, his reactions are SS tier tbf and he also really goes into depth about trauma both physical and mental, but yep great reactions and reasoning channels both of them. Sadly psyculturists sometimes or rather often times goes to far with his digging and has a community around him that at times spoils the anime by infference which is sad otherwise I'd follow his reactions religously, many light novel readers over there who just wants to hype the sensational train of thoughts and connections Psyculturist does based on his proffesion. So beware if you check out his content, it's is both amazing and at times ruining this great show with the community around him.

@@shadowx8145 that's why i don't like most reactors. they just react, speculate for that episode only. knowing reactors is reacting to seasonal or past anime and watches like 7 different anime per week, they should have take notes, considering how small their brain to forget what happened in certain show and just walk off with excuse like "well i'm watching a lot of anime". if you watch a lot of animes to make a reaction and discussion content about it, how about take notes, especially for shows that is popular (because the chance to get another season is high) and animes with more than 24 episodes.

I watch a number of people that take notes and they almost only get used to make jokes or point something out after the fact saying "oh yeah I had this note". It's not anybody doing anything wrong, just that it's super satisfying when it goes so right.

A few facts about nanahoshi (no spoil): - Her fake name in the new world is Silent Sevenstar. It is her full name when translated into English (Nana=7, Hoshi=Star, Shizuka= Silent) - She is extremely smart, because she was teleported, she did not go through the rapid language learning stage of children like Rudeus, but she was able to learn to speak Human fluently in just 2 years without anyone knowing Japanese - She was teleported 5 years ago right into Fittoa territory (part of the Asura kingdom where the teleportation disaster occurred) which at that time had become a desolate wasteland -She uses knowledge from the previous world to earn money and make connections, she even got A rank at the Magic Association (higher than the B rank vice principal and only lower than the S rank principal of Ranoa university)

I like how Nanahoshi took off her mask when she thought Rudeus as someone from homeland with same goal her like comrade in arm. However, once Rudeus and her direction to get back home are not aligned, she went back and wear her mask and crossed her leg shows she putting up some sort of wall between her and Rudeus. Now, Rudeus is just her business associate to achieve her goal with give and take relationship.

@@antoinebrg6299 Keep in mind she's been stuck in the world for the past 5 years with basically no attachment to anything due to her desperation to return home, and she's finally found someone who could possibly understand and relate to what she's going through. After five years of isolation she'd naturally be pretty desperate when presented with one of the only people in the world who could potentially understand and relate to what she's going through. Think Subaru with not being able to talk to anyone about Return by Death, guy is desperate for someone who he could talk to about it. Sure Nanahoshi's situation is a bit less extreme, but she's also been going through it for much longer.

I'd guess Nanahoshi wears a mask for three reasons: she's Japanese and not many people seem to look Asian, so she wishes to avoid extra attention. And she doesn't age, and it might look odd if she runs into people again who notice that. And third, perhaps Orstead doesn't want Nanohoshi recognized by whoever summoned her as they travel. It's quite possible that the summoner could recognize Nanohoshi but doesn't know her name.

Note: Shizuka = Silent Nana = Seven Hoshi = Stars If you watch the first episode, when we see the accident with Truck-Kun, they mention 2 people have disappeared. Also if you check when the teleportation incident happened, there was a moments where it showed 7 stars. One of the things they cut from this episode, is that in her travels with Orsted, she used her inventions to create businesses and trade routes. So she's pretty much very rich at this point. They also cut that because of it and her connection to "the person" who told her about being summoned to this world, if she's not careful, she might be surrounded by greedy, manipulative and power hungry people. Case in point, she's someone who Ariel tried many times to win over but she evaded her like the plague. It's never fully explained about why the mask in the novels, but it's implied that she's just trying to lay low, not get attention by these kind of people and avoid interacting with people in this world as much as possible. So by using the mask, she can maintain some anonimity. Although, in this world there's no people with black hair, so Rudeus points out that little detail that fails in her strategy. ---- Sylphie's parents died in the incident. Paul's team found their corpses. When he saw the report that Laws (Sylphie's Dad) died, it started to make him think that his family died as well and that started his drinking before Rudy met him in Millishion. Since the records of the missing and dead are public, Ariel's team was able to find out about Sylphie's parent. Ariel mentions in the Novels that she has great appreciation for Sylphie because even when she found out about the death of her parents and was depressed, she still was there for her in hard moments and protecting her from assassins. Though that also shows that Sylphie never had a good chance to mourn her parents in peace.

And I was like, wait a second, there wasn't anyone called that name in the episode.... right? Also since you mentioned the records of the missing and dead are public, I'm fairly sure Rudeus also checked the exact list when he got back home. He was also sad to see Sylphie's parents dead, but he also noticed Sylphie herself was crossed off the "Missing" list but not shown in the death list. So Rudy could only assume Sylphie managed to survive the teleportation and started another life somewhere in the world without any of her family. Still hilarious that she ended up at the Magic University before Rudy actually went there.

Im totally not watching a one hour long reaction/discussion video *cuts to myself 1 hour 17 minutes later staring at the screen* On a more serious note, there is one thing that I think others reactor in this ep dont bring up: how would sylphie feels in all of this I love that you guys bring up that thematic details of "foreign object" and how sylphie relates to that in a way. There are also several shot that I think also add that emphasis on that "alienation" that I really like: 1. The shot of nanahoshi holding rudy's hand being blocked by sylphie body 2. The change in sylphie's expression while she is sitting across the room when rudy said he would help nanahoshi in a language she dont understand 3. The scene where rudy and sylphie walking in a different speed as if rudy is leaving her behind since rudy's world is so much "bigger" than hers It's just wow I love this episode I love Mushoku Tensei

I always assumed nanahoshi wore a mask because she's apparently the only Japanese person in the world. Her face is too peculiar and it could lead to trouble. Rare sex slave kidnapping chances, suspicion from visibly unknown origins, or suspicion from not aging unlike every other human being there. She doesn't like trouble and doesn't seem to want to associate with anyone unless necessary, likely as an emotional shield for herself so that she can never truly commit to living there.

Perhaps teleportation is like a splash. Imagine a big bowl of water and "people" floating in it as the Six-Sided World (the natives) that Rudy know lives on. Imagine summoning of Nanahoshi et al as dropping a person into that bowl of water from a great height (our Earth). So when they are dropped, there is a bit "Splash" of magic and where the summoning occurs - at Fitoa - the local natives who "floated' in 6-sided world are caught up in the splash of teleport impact and tossed randomly all over the place. . Or so I got from the "backlash" explanation this episode...

re: the discussion at 51:00 People forget that Sylphie was protecting Ariel as Fitz from multiple assassination attempts, there was also an ambush on the way to the magic academy. She's killed multiple (dozens of?) people in that role, not just the one assassin seen in the anime. Nanahoshi would've been dead without those rings, no question.

Man I am happy to be a LN reader. The mind-blowing reading certain scenes was so huge. Seeing these reactions are so fun ! In a way I am reliving my first readthrough the whole story. i feel nanahoshis mask when she takes it off and on kinda reflect her "defenses" when she got all excited that rudeus was from earth she gets all happy and mask off, once rudeus isnt on the same page as nanahoshi, her mask is on. like her barriers are up again. kinda cool to see

The whole "2 people getting teleported thing" I think at least partially gets explained due to a difference in that scene between the anime and light novel. If I remember correctly, in the novel Rudy does manage to push one of the kids out of the way before he died, so that's presumably the one that didn't end up missing.

Been reading the manga for a few years and I just started with the web novel, then I'll move to the light novels after them, and then marathon whatever's released of the anime at that point. "The arguing boy hugged the girl when he noticed the truck approaching in front of his eyes. The other boy had his back facing the truck and had not noticed, was merely surprised by his companion's sudden action. I grabbed his collar without any hesitation and used all my strength to pull him back. The boy was pulled away and fell to the roadside, out of the truck's path. Good. Two more to go. Just when I had this thought, the truck was already in front of me. I had just planned to pull them from a safe distance, but as I pulled them back, the recoil caused me to move forward." Then the truck hit him, launched him against a wall, and then the truck also hit the wall. His death was not instantaneous.

I've consumed the story only through manga thus far, but I've started on the web novel and have watched clips on youtube, but I was shocked how real they made Rudeus' panic attack. In the manga, the reveal of Nanahoshi is a full spread page with great detail (to give dramatic gravity) and then it's Rudeus screaming and running through the whole school until he comes up to Fittz, having a moment of hope. Nanahoshi lays her hand on his shoulder from behind, "It's rude to run away from people like that." and then he faints, awakening in the infirmary. A typical comedic take at his fear of Orsted. Here... He's screaming off the top of his lungs, losing balance and footing completely, hyperventilating and probably experiencing heavy chest pain both from the stress his utter panic is placing on his body and from the memory of his injury, only to simply overload and shut down from the experience. More than ever, the english word "panic" is insufficient for me to conceptualize what he's going through, so I use my native Finnish word for it: pakokauhu, "flight/escape horror/terror"

Anime/Manga only. Maybe the difference in timing could have to do with what was being summoned. For Rudy all that was being summoned was his soul. With Nanahoshi and perhaps the friend, it was their entire being body and soul being transported. Maybe that changed how fast they could be moved from their original world to this one and might be the reason for the time difference. One more weird thing is after the accident the two teens were already disappeared, but Rudy was still in Japan dying. He didn't end up in the other world for another 30 mins or so as he slowly died from his injuries.

rudeus has been in that world for at least 15 years and yet nanahoshi only came to asura 5 years ago but they were taken the same time in that truck incident... why if they were taken same time in that truck incident did they appear in the other world 10 years apart cause nanahoshi only came to that world during the teleport incident... becuse rudeus had time to grow up before the teleportation incident when nanahoshi was summoned

TS 27:00 glad you caught that. Only 2 we’re missing. My theory is , is that the other guy and the guy who became Rudeus were reincarnated. And it is possible that the other guy is Cliff. It’s my own hypothesis to the story though

"i have no regrets'' isn't a very good line alot of context gets removed but he really just means that he had nothing there now in this life he has family friends power. nanahoshi is the opposite she had everything and lost it all to a world where she doesn't belong. they almost traded lives
