Unfortunately the Anime skipped a very important discussion between Rudeus & Badigadi. I can't think of a reason why they skipped it. But they might be planning to add it in later, out of order. Read below if you don't mind potential spoilers (if they do come back to this): . . . . - Badigadi & Rudeus discuss "Battle Aura". This is something most fighters naturally learn as they strengthen their bodies. It's basically a coat of mana that is tightly attached to their body. This is why Rudeus barely scratched Orsted in their fight. Orsted has a really strong Battle Aura. Badigadis is also extremely impressive, and so the fact Rudeus could blow his body apart in their duel, was equally impressive. Most attacks wouldn't leave a scratch. - Rudeus tries using Battle Aura, but he has absolutely no talent for it. Badigadi explains that is rare, and unusual despite how much Mana Rudeus has. - He also explains that Laplace also was unable to use Battle Aura. Laplace was just so powerful because of the amount of mana he could wield. Rudeus asked if he should try to imitate Laplace's fighting style. But Badigadi replied saying if Rudeus tried, his body would blow up in an instant. Its unusual for a human to have as much Mana as Rudeus does. Laplace was able to fully use his entire mana, because he had a sturdy demon body. - Rudeus was recently taught a Saint-level Earth Magic spell by a professor. It's a spell called "Sandstorm" and is basically a more powerful version of his Advanced rank "Duststorm". He was advised not to use it in a town or city unless absolutely necessary. Rudeus can now (officially) call himself an Earth Saint, along with Water Saint. - Badigadi confirms to Rudeus that despite him not knowing any earth-magic spells above Saint Rank, his Stone Canon (normally an intermediate spell) was of the same power as a Emperor spell. - Reminder of the ranking: Divine > Emperor > King > Saint > Advanced > Intermediate > Beginner (Divine is also called "God" rank in some translations. But Light Novel usually calls it "Divine".) - The discussion regarding "what Rudeus is seeking power for" was actually just a small part of this entire conversation. Badigadi brings up an example of someone who only sought power, but after nearly dying, found more important things in life (women). This person was his nephew. The name of this nephew was not mentioned. - Some world-building was skipped in regards to how detoxification magic works at different ranks. And how difficult they are to learn. The more advanced spells require you to memorize hundreds of spells, and recant massively long incantations. - There was some big foreshadowing for a much later plot-point. I can't even talk about this foreshadowing because the context itself would be a spoiler if you knew. It's always surprising to find the spoilers the author himself had hidden throughout his story. So much interesting world-building & lore that was completely skipped by this episode. Very unfortunate. It also gives more reason for Badigadi to be around, to divulge this info.

Some of the details aren't that big a deal, but the Battle Aura is pretty important context for how much of a glass cannon Rudy is (which of course leads into a certain project later on).

I feel so bad that S2 is not rewarding for people like them who know how to analyze a story being told. It feels so bad that we will probably never see S1 Bind ever again. S1 Bind would have masterfully adapted all this content.

There’s a great detail about the book Nanahoshi throws at Rudeus, which was probably skipped (as many details from the novel are, sadly, but that’s just how adaptations go): - The book isn’t an introduction to summoning or anything of the sort, but rather a fable like story about a magician looking to summon creatures. She (it was a woman, iirc) goes on to summon stronger and stronger monsters, until she eventually summoned a monster that was too strong for her to handle and got killed. The morale being: do not fucking try to summon something that’s beyond your capabilities. It was Nanahoshi’s way of telling Rudeus that she is, in fact, being precaucious.

Funny that you should mention the eyes of Sylphie as well. In the LN Rudy wonders if the reason Fitz has to wear the sunglasses is because the disguise can't change Ariel's eye color. So to not make it weird just when they switch places it makes sense for Fitz to always wear them. Ofc this is only Rudy's speculation in this part of the LN. Similarly Rudy figured the whole "silent Fitz" moniker is not just to avoid conversations where Fitz (as Ariel) would seem out of character but also because the disuise most likely can't mimic Fitz's voice as well. If Ariel's voice came out of her disguised form then there would be little point to it.

We already know that the discrepancy from when Rudy and Nanahoshi arrived is strange and we don't really know why they showed up at different times. Maybe Nanahoshi will succeed at the summoning, and the person she summons is the only other person we know to have been missing from the truck accident. We know 2 of the 3 high schoolers were missing after the truck crashed. Nanahoshi was one and we don't know what happened to the other. Food for thought. Probably wrong.

Initially I thought that the time difference is because of Rudy incarnating. Remember how Orseted couldn't "see" him? That and this info that Nanahoshi only came to this world 5 years ago made me think that whoever summoned, forcefully put rudy 10 years into the past by reincarnating him. But whats strange about this theory is that, why only 10 years into the past? Reincarnation means baby. So either RUdy was born during the day of mana disaster or should be born 34 years before mana disaster (his irl age). Its strange that Rudy was made into a baby only 10 years before mana disaster.

this is one of the episodes that left out more content, badigadi teach ludeus about battle aura, and tell him he doesnt have one, and every person have one and exept laplace, we also learn badigadi nephew I wanted to be a hero and that if ludeus used mana as laplace it would be destroyed because it is weaker. We also learn the magic circles consume a big amount of mana, sylphye could do only one per day, soldat reunion was becouse when badigadi appear the country call to every mercenarie, mague an soldier to fight but when everyone came the situation was alredy under control. Other thing they left out was ludeus explaining that the curses and blessing are the same thing

The full explanation was skipped, but basically, Ariel has a magical item that allows her to borrow the appearance of someone else. It's a set of 2 rings. Fitz has one and that sends her image to the one Ariel wears. However, the "image clonning" is not perfect. It doesn't change the eye colors, which is why Fitz must use lenses. It doesn't change the voice which is why Fitz must remain silent. It doesn't completely hide the body composition which is why Rudy felt that the "Fitz" in the market looked a bit different. Rudy had invited Fitz to meet Soldat as he wanted to introduce him to Fitz but Fitz said she was busy guarding Ariel. However Soldat's reunion was cut short so that's why Rudy was able to roam the market early and took them off guard. Fitz had expected Rudy to spend all day with Soldat. After feeling shot down, Rudy went to the library using the shortest route to find Fitz there, so it was almost impossible for Fitz to have arrived before Rudy. When Rudy confronted Fitz, she was shocked at first but then answered all the questions, like she had prepared them in advance or like she was reading a script that she had rehearsed multiple times. That's what ended up tipping Rudy to realize that the "Fitz" in the market was really ariel.

The entire point of the scene with Badi is to talk about the battle aura mechanics of that world and some background info about Laplace, but they skipped that part so the scene now feels a bit randomly included
