I have just driven 1400 miles to the Scottish Highlands and back & averaged 51mpg. Pretty impressive I thought especially considering about 900 miles was on motorways. Admittedly when the car is pushed hard the high revving engine is a tad annoying but have got used to it now so would consider this car good value and enjoyable to drive.

Another great and fair review Tish, I've owned that very same model in that colour since January this year and can honestly say I use it in mixed driving both around town and up and down the motorway and in the real world when you do the sums and work out the Real mpg and not what it shows you on screen as that only shows you the mpg at that time you are using it and NOT overall it has never dipped below 60 mpg, regarding the looks I love it, but guess I'm bound to say that lol, just to let you know that is not the top model there is one above it with a different colour roof and roof bars plus a little extra spec, not that that model is lacking and I think it's the sweet spot in the range. Love you reviews and look forward to the next.

60 mpg is really great. My honda jazz hybrid can do 65 to 70 mpg and around 600 miles per tank.. do you know how many miles per tank Honda hrv can run?
@davidtinning97674 ай бұрын
My new (July 24) Advance has done 1700 miles in the first 5 weeks and over that mileage (mixed driving including several 200-300 mile round trips) has averaged 57.8mpg. The tank only takes c £50 to fill up (my previous and excellent Hyundai Tucson N Line took £80+ to fill). Build and paintwork is exemplary, and the engine just needs to be driven differently to a petrol engine as it's, er, different!😅. It cruises superbly on level roads and corners far better than the Tucson. For my needs, in retirement, this car is perfect.

You are the only reviewer who understands that the size of the boot is not everything, but the shape matters! Good, balanced review. I will pick up my HR-V Advance Style in January, coming from a 2014 CR-V Diesel (built in Swindon). I have never driven a car as relaxing as the HR-V. And you can avoid the noise by just not pushing it too hard. By the way, in Germany, the HR-V won the famous red dot design award. I love the looks and will not get tired of them after ten years. Don´t think the Kia Sportage will stand that test of time.

I think it has a bit of a Volvo vibe to it which I like but as you say we’re all different. We’ve had 3 Hondas and the reliability has been great . We’re were two women and a child and now we’re empty nesters of a certain age so reliability is something we value . Currently we’re considering another Jazz or a HRV . We like the Jazz but people do tend to intimidate you on the road in it, hence looking at the HRV. Recently we’ve hired a few SUVs and we like the height and better view of the road but looking at reviews the reliability of most can’t match Honda and familiarity is something you tend to value as you get older. I’m just concerned about the HRV now being made in Mexico rather than Japan or the UK. Does it have that cast iron reliability of other Hondas ? Thanks for the review, it was very helpful.

I think Honda missed a trick there with the center of that steering wheel. They could have done what Citroen did years ago and have it stay in place while the wheel moves around it and it would have worked really good. In Japan, there is an AWD version of the HRV (which is called the Vezel over there). Shame we don’t get it here in Europe. Oh, and the new 2023 HRV (the one shown at 2:39) is actually for North America. In Ozzyland (which is what I call Australia), they have the same HRV as Europe and other markets. However, in Europe and Japan, the crossover which is called the HRV in North America will be called the ZRV, but I’m sure Honda will sell that particular vehicle in Ozzyland.
