WRC needs more than 8 main cars in Rally 1 to be fair too 🎉

Honestly they need to put the Hybrid cars on hold and talk to manufacturers about if cost is the problem for them and, especially for privateer teams who may not afford those hybrid cars. With only 3 manufacturers with hybrid technology in the WRC, that's going to be a problem if they can't get more manufacturers with hybrid cars.
@semjonignatov134011 ай бұрын
Go back to grp.A type of cars and the problem is solved. Drop the costs! As much as everyone want to see huge aero bla bla bla, it's not sustainable. Have an open class for that if you want with engine restrictions. But the WRC core should be a lot simpler!

@@rap4thahoodthe funny thing is Rally2/WRC2 has more manufacturers than Rally1 and now with THE biggest manufacturer in the form of Toyota joining the fray the class is getting more and more interesting. For instance, we now have Toyota, Skoda, Hyundai, M-Sport Ford, & Citroen in Rally2 for the 2024 season. Lancia is even rumoured to finally have a big return in Rally2 based on what Stellantis' statement (though they will technically just replace Citroen's place rather than being an addition)
@AbrahamArthemius11 ай бұрын
@@semjonignatov1340we already have something like that. It's called Rally2.
@semjonignatov134011 ай бұрын
@@AbrahamArthemius yes, but it's very quiet about Rally2, just like it always were with R5 cars. Make it the priority, work with manufacturers to bring'em all in to put the best driver's in those cars. WIN-WIN for everyone, the sport will be better, cheaper for participants AND more interest from regular people who once again will want to buy a Yaris, Fabia, i20 etc. Dont you agree?

New points system is interesting, kind of reminds me of what they do at the Spa 24 hours where points are dished out at certain points during the race.

I'm sure that you're aware of the fact, that Saturday's winner can end up with more points at the end of the rally, than the overall winner. How brilliant is that?!

... contrary to any sane points system you get nothing for the win. NOTHING. It's completely stupid.

Still struggling with the point system. So if im in a 7th up until Saturday and im chilling saving my tyres, saving my car, and i have the best starting position for Sunday i can go and grab 12 points. Even if i was nowhere the previous 3 days. Also whats going on with super rally? Are they eligible for points on Sunday?

Can Autosport do more of this WRC content please?
@mbrannon11 ай бұрын
I actually really like the idea of giving some focus to Sunday but I just feel its a little weird to get nothing for being the overall winner. If they upped the total points available to 33 instead of 30 and just gave like a podium bonus of 3, 2, 1 points for 1st-3rd (or some other combo of points to make it more meaningful), that would be enough I think to keep the stated goals of the new points system but take away the main issue most people have with it. Even if it doesn't change a lot mathematically in the end, it makes it feel like you are being rewarded for actually winning the event.

The sad thing is, no matter who wins the championship this season, a lot of people will say they are undeserved to be the champions due to the lack of Kalle and Seb, unless that champion managed to successfully defend that title next year.
@akyhne11 ай бұрын
It's not undeserved! Kalle made a choice. It's like saying driver a doesn't deserve to become champion, because driver B was better, but experienced too many breakdowns on his car.

I'm still waiting for Citroen's comeback to the sport, they were the greatest at making rally monsters and even then on Rally 2 their car is really good. I only wish new fans would enjoy this little French car manufacturer make a car that tears apart rally stages without breaking a sweat.

Had no clue Drivers would have the option to run Rally1 cars without hybrid that’s cool. I mean as long as the specs are still similar enough to each other like how weight was mentioned I see nothing wrong with this, especially since they already use biofuel

After all the measures they took to reduce the cost of entry in Rally1 they still only sport 8 cars on the roster. Something's amiss here.

Yeah, Sundays could be pretty boring. How to fix it? Give the teams a fresh set of tyres, for the power stage. Simple & easy.

Would love Ott to win his second, but my brain says Evans will win the championship in 2024. He must do, as he's the most steady and consistent driver while Ott and Thierry fight for rally wins and invariably make costly mistakes. Sadly, consistency pays even more so this year, not rally wins. So if Evans doesn't get the title this year, he never will. The points system is completely idiotic imo. All they needed to do was to add 2-3 bonus points for each of the Sunday's stages, keeping the rest the same. And of course there are other solutions. But the one they came up with is diabolical. It's way too complicated for half the fans, let alone anyone new to the sport, it will discourage people from engaging. And most of all, it completely devalues the rally win, which goes massively against the DNA of the sport. Let's hope they change it asap!

A once great series scrambling around for relevance. The new points system is proof they don't know what they're doing.......cruising happens in the closing stages in lots of races....it's a part of motorsport. The weakest of the major global motorsport series....and will be shown up this weekend by IMSA's Rolex24
