Summer of 1987. I was 18 and was getting out of my car to go into a bank. This "Kid" and his friend pulled up and parked next to me in a brand new 87' GNX a car I saw at the local dealership for sale. He was just 17 and his grand father a local Businessman in our small town of Springfield, TN had died and left him some money. Every time I see a turbo Buick of any year I think of that day. That kid and the fact that the car.

@@itsjustnopinionok You are at the same age as me and I had an 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 and of course there was a kid at my high school that drove his dad’s Grand National….that jackass would find me every weekend and destroy me at every stop light. Still see the guy every once in a while and he still has the car but rarely drives it. Looks like it just left the showroom floor today. Only upside for me is I saw him in it months ago and I was driving around with my son in his 2020 C8 and my son paid him back for killing me back in the late 80s. Still an amazing car. FYI, I drive a 2008 Hyundai Sonata, it’s a Korean super car if you are not familiar with it. 🤣

Because the Grand National was a V6 turbo that was designed to beat the V8 monsters of the day, like the Corvette Z06, Ferrari Testarossa, etc. So they see LS swapping one as "sacrilege" I love the V6 Grand Nationals, but I love hotrods more! I don't think there's ever been a car made that is "too sacred" to chop up and make it better, faster, more modern, etc.

I owned an ‘85 Regal from ‘89 until the mid 90’s and I loved that car. I’ve always had, and WILL always have a soft spot for the 80’s G Bodies. Something about the design is just perfect to me. This G Body is the nastiest Regal I’ve ever seen and there’s no shade of green deep enough to properly convey my envy!!! Absolutely beautiful car!

@@violentdawg Its got an LS4 with a 4T65E-HD. I've been keeping my eyes open for one, but it's a *hard* sellers market right now. Just thinking about the aftermarket options for one of those. Lol I'm looking for one that is the color I call "old man gold" or "old man bronze". Only a small handful of people in the world would even be suspicious of a car like that. 🤭

What a G body , I can't help but wonder how much torque that engine puts to the rear wheels. That motor sounds like it never runs out of power. WOW is all I can say 😎👏👏 Bravo on the build. It would take a cup car to keep up with it if it goes over 200 mph. That is serious hp and a very balanced race car. Fast through the 1/4 and goes over 200 mph on top. The one thing that means the most is that it was built NOT BOUGHT. Smiles per gallon describes it best. 👍👍 Great job. Perfect combo of speed and handling. The brakes are damn sure not too much. When you get over 200 mph you definitely learn that you can never have too much braking.

That's not a 3.8 block in this car, he stated it was an LS....but the 3.8 stock block is good to about 600HP to the wheels- insane for a v6!

I do find it amusing he's pulling this much power out of an Ls then admits he can't put it all to the ground, which means an original V6 would be just fine at 600 hp, the max for the deep skirt 109 block. it also calls the sequential transmission into choice, if the car can't handle full throttle shifts, why not use an automatic and let the suspension get a softer hit.
