Renault were crushing it in F1 around the early to mid 2000's and they really capitalised on it by selling hot hatches. These Renault Sport Clios (especially the 182) were pound for pound some of the hottest cars around at the time. Back when EVO magazine was a thing.

@andreacristoforetti20613 жыл бұрын
@@GoldenCroc yeah absolutely, but just for a matter of fun (seeing 40L/100km with an M8 ahahah) it would be interesting to me if they wrote the consumption of the run in the video, since it is almost always the same stretch of road
@GoldenCroc3 жыл бұрын
@@andreacristoforetti2061 Hello. I understand, but you can also do a rough calculation yourself. A petrol engine uses about 0.3l fuel per horsepower and hour. A normal sized car such as a golf needs about 120hp to do 200kmh. 120x0.3 is 36 liter. Divide by 2 (since 200kmh) to get consumption per 100km, and we get 18l/100km steady speed. Plug in general drag and rolling resistance formula to correct for different speeds. Cheers.

Love that car. It looks like your mum's shopping cart but it's probably the fastest B-hatchback you could get back then. However, I remember test driving one back in the day, and the power curve seemed to be super steep, so it actually felt a bit weak in more "everyday" rev ranges. Something like a Bravo HGT felt much ballsier, although it obviously was slower when revved to the red line.

The way the cam comes on song at 5500rpm is just brilliant. To think this is only a cam dephaser setup as well, the tone change and aggresive run to the redline from 5500rpm is due to peak efficiency of the cam and intake runners
