The only thing I don't like is that it's not a small (ish) car anymore. Over the previous 2 generations (so from gen 8, which I currently have) they seem to have really increased in size. Gen 7's look small when comparing them. Sadly this seems to be common in a lot of cars these days.

that's probably it but most Europe countries make taxes more and more hard on engines. That pushed most maker to 1L turbo 3 cylinders.

Interesting car. I wonder if the bad fuel economy is perhaps the result of a tiny turbocharged engine? I know that most other manufacturers that have gone to tiny turbocharged engines (Hyundai, Ford, etc) have had problems with customers not getting good fuel economy. I know from driving turbo engines over the years it’s tough to keep your foot out of the turbo and tiny displacement and a ten second 0-10 only makes it that more necessary-compared to many large displacement normally aspirated engines we have here in Canada on large vehicles which return similar fuel economy figures whether driven hard or easy thanks to tall gear ratios and no boost.

40mpg is pretty reasonable, i don't know what are you crying about ... ?! it's a 1 litre turbo engine and despite what the constructors are saying, a smaller engine does not result in fuel economy. whoever believes this is an idiot. Maintaining the cars size and weight while reducing the engine displacement always results in bad fuel economy. 40mpg for a car that weighs nearly 2900 lbs without passengers and luggage is actually pretty damn good.
