After watching many Bob Ross art pieces I was curious to see his teacher and I am glad to see the unique and detailed style, passion and personality this wonderful artist had and seeing how Bob got his amazing talent from Bill's amazing techniques and methods. Bless this man for teaching others to pass on his glorious work and his predecessors.

Calling Bob's capabilities "amazing talent" is an overstatement, he's not nearly as good in technique, brush strokes, colors, and couldn't paint almost anything besides these landscapes, Alexander had a bigger range, and you can see him painting a bigger variety of subjects. But Bob is a far better entertainer, there is no wonder in why one reached a larger audience.

I grew up in the 80s and watched Bill Alexander and later Bob Ross on PBS. We need more quality shows that teach and inspire people to create. Their shows are very mesmerizing to watch even if you don't paint. You learn prospective and how colors work together while watching. He truly was a master of his art. I am thankful his shows are here on KZbin so I can share them with my children.

@@nashhussan4568 Can't refine a thing if you're not the better artist. Alexander's paintings are better. Nic Hankins is his name.

A fun fact is that I used to watch tons of bob ross videos and tutorials on youtube but still couldn't make the paint break for the highlights, but watching Bill Alexander tutorials like this one, the movements he had done with his hand, and the tips he gave, I was able to achieve breaking the paint for snow mountains.

Alexander Art, I want to thank you so much for bringing 'Bill' back to us. Many years ago I spent days just waiting for that 30 minute 'Happy Painting' to happen. Bill is just as great today as he was back then. His art and passion is special. Bill and Bob Ross share many of the 'wet in wet' techniques, but each one is an individual and has their own special ways to handle the brush and knife. I appreciate viewing Bill's work again. Thank you for your time to put these together.

As much as I love to see Bob Ross paintings in The Alexander style, and think them to be excellent works. I observe that william Alexander's personally perfected style of paintings are much more detailed and colourful than the clones. Bill was without a doubt a true master of His technique and should be held in higher esteem in the art world. Bill is funny and quirky and sometimes gets overexcited and passionate to the point that it affects how he expresses his language. May his mighty brush forever be the hallmark to the magic of the Alexander technique. He is loved by many including myself.

Bill’s dream was to be a game warden. With his love of nature and the opportunity to continue painting, it would have been the perfect job. I was hooked on Bob but when I found Bill I was so happy because his paintings are more abstract. Bob has incredible detail in his paintings, but Bill achieves powerful work with less detail. His paintings are def mighty. He explains everything in more detail than Bob too. It took Bill about 15 years to perfect the formula for Magic White™. In fact, in his autobiography (alexanderart.com/the-bill-alexander-story/) and in a couple of his videos, Bill mentions that he started out with just oil based primer from the hardware store. The problem, of course, was that he was afraid that the paint would yellow and crack (which it will). And so he began testing different combinations of oil and paint until he came up with the correct formula. But, of course, it's much more than just oil and paint. You need to add additional ingredients to the formula so that the paint will move on the canvas properly and mix with new paint that's applied on top of the Magic White™. You also want drying agents which will control how fast (or slow) the Magic White™ will dry. Most of the clones of Bill's Magic White™ also include thinners which are highly toxic and stink to high heaven. We removed thinners and toxins from Bill's Magic White™ and added our proprietary clear oil. We even added a touch of lavender so that your studio will smell fresh and clean.

Bill is a great painter, but Bob really has developed Bills style of painting in to something more refined, smooth and stylized, but maybe a touch too safe or neutral. Bills' style is more crude, messy and wild, but more visually interesting. Bill's paintings seem better from afar...?
