I've enjoyed your last two vlogs so much. University is definitely a huge change, and a massive adjustment for the whole family. My eldest two are in consecutive school years, and have therefore just been away simultaneously for two years, leaving my 13 year old solo😢. My son has just completed his the years in Liverpool, whilst my eldest daughter will soon return to Lancaster for her final year. My hubby got a new job, requiring him to stay in the lakes midweek, so I went from a full, busy, noisy, work heavy household of 5, to myself and my youngest, rattling around with just a cat for company. I honestly think it made me sad on a very deep level, that I didn't fully acknowledge, no matter how much I tried to think it was calm and peaceful. Ivy was devastated for a full year, before Archie went away, as they have been with her every day, since birth: she definitely didn't want to be an only child! I'm sure Lillia and the family will embrace the change and continue to grow together. It has been such a great experience for my children at the end of the day, warts and all, and I wouldn't have changed it. Xxxx

I will be thinking of you as the next few weeks pass. Enjoy each minute leading up to Lillia going off to University, it is a bittersweet time. I wish Lillia well as she begins this new journey it is very exciting. I remember the day, a little over a year ago, when my oldest son moved out into the home he purchased with his now wife. I sat in his room after he left and thought, "How did we get here so quickly?" Sending you a big hug!❤

What better after a beautiful family holiday in Spain than to ease into the life activities of Autumn! As the time grows shorter before Lilia goes off to school I am sure you are gathering everything she will need and checking them off your lists. As someone else said take tissues with you. As ready as we think we are for them to go off on their first grown up adventure, there is a part of our hearts that take some catching up as we drive away… I relate your excitement at getting that beautiful new book to waiting with my daughter for each new volume of Harry Potter when they were released. Enjoy this new season as it comes.❤️😊

what a lot of books you read! Always love hearing what you've been reading as it gives me ideas for what to read next. watched this and did some knitting instead of my uni work because I'm feeling poorly, it's nice to have some company. I'm jealous of you guys going into autumn up there, the light has decidedly changed here too as we move into spring, even though I enjoy the colder moths for my knits and cozy vibes, at least the change in weather and extra sun always improves my mood this time of year.

Lovely to see you! I am getting ridiculously excited about Lilia going off to University as I know she will love it! One of my two daughters went and it really shaped her for later life! Her blanket will be a lovely reminder of home. It’s looking very Autumnal now and the light on your walk walk lovely! Loved your book update as usual and I remember reading the Shadow of the Wind and loving it! Marveling how anyone can create atmosphere in words and not pictures! Take care x

My favourite season coming up soon here as well in Canada. The best camping trips, no bugs, school back on, quiet, water still warm enough to swim, cool evening by the campfire with a book and a good "cuppa". You got me hooked on the Yorkshire biscuit brew and toast & jam....I love them both hot or with ice. So exciting to see a new one i hope I can it at speciality British importation stores close to me. Wishing the girls a great back to school season Xoxo

Hi Ali! I totally agree about Our Wives Under the Sea - the sense of love and loss comes across so strongly without falling into crass sentimentally. I guessed where it was going, and I really didn't want it to, but it's such an original story that I forgave it for that! ❤

You are the first person apart from my daughter and I that I've heard comment that 'the light has changed'! Everyone else looks at us as if we've gone mad.😂 Neither of us copes well with Winter so we don't see it as a positive thing at this time of year, but we rejoice when it 'changes' in the spring. However it makes me feel better that you are heading into your favourite season. Please send Lilia my best wishes and congratulations on her uni place. My Eldest daughter went to Southampton university ( a few years ago now ) we are in the Midlands so it was a good trek down there. IKEA was great for kitting her out one thing if you haven’t got it already is a clothes airer so lilia can dry her washing in her room. Rachel ( my daughter) didn’t get a lot of financial help for living so we use to do online food shopping for her once a fortnight that was delivered to her halls. X
