It must be fantastic to be surrounded by so much beautiful space. I saw a bear when I visited my sister in Banff Canada. From the car I may add!! It was October time. I believe it is called berry season? Stocking up for hibernation. I digress. Beautiful walk back to nature

Hi there, and yes, it really is fantastic. I haven't been to Banff. Well the one in Scotland (did a walk there too) but I've always wanted to go. The biological term for the bears state is Hyperphagia. They are loading up on as many calories as they can for the winter. Thanks as always. Cheers. -H

Oh how gorgeous, Henry! Tom, whom you mentioned in the video, in Vermont surely has wow colors. Here in Ohio, the fall colors have us loving our outdoor time! I wanted to mention at the 23:15 mark, the sound went quiet for the duration of the video 😢. 🤷‍♀️ I don't think that it is a technical issue on my end. Maybe you can check into it? If you find something and it gets fixed, I'll come back and join the walk again at that mark. Thanks Henry! So glad youre back in MT and doing nature walks!

Hello Henry. I did enjoy this walk. I think I prefer the fall colors of Montana to the fall colors of Vermont. Vermont is borderline garish, while Montana seems more muted and calming. My favorite thing about autumn is the smell. We have black bears in Vermont, but I think if you asked 10 hikers in Vermont what makes them most nervous, 9 of them would say ticks, and the risk of Lyme disease. I myself have turned around on hikes that were too overgrown. I saw on TravelingMel's Instagram that you have an adorable new kitten. I have 2 cats and in general they are a joy to have around. Apparently, the outlaw Butch Cassidy’s (Robert LeRoy Parker) mother was born in my home town of Sunderland in north east England. I believe he frequented Montana at one point. Bonjour Henry. Je marche virtuellement avec toi depuis le confinement en 2020 avec les sous-titres pour mieux comprendre et améliorer mon anglais 😊. Le ciel bleu, le soleil et les couleurs des arbres c'est magnifique. Le Montana est un bel état. Tu as bien du courage de marcher dans cette nature sauvage, moi cela me ferait un peu peur, mais il y a sûrement pleins de choses que tu dois savoir pour s'auto-protéger face à un ours, en plus du spray répulsif et des appels "Hey Bear". Il n'y a pas de son sur la fin de la vidéo (environ 9 mn), est-ce normal ou as-tu eu un problème de caméra ou de téléchargement sur KZbin ? Merci pour ces agréables balades et la découverte de l'environnement ou tu vis avec ta famille.

C’est tellement merveilleux de vous entendre et de vous avoir comme spectateur. Oui, j'ai eu un problème technique avec l'enregistreur de son sur cette vidéo. Cela s'est produit plusieurs fois au fil des ans, mais je continue de mieux me souvenir de tous les détails pour les réaliser. En réalité, l’essentiel chez les ours est de ne pas les surprendre. En général, ils ne veulent rien avoir à faire avec les gens. Les pumas sont des animaux différents, mais c'est surtout la météo qui est la chose la plus dangereuse. Je vous souhaite tout le meilleur et continuez à avancer ! -H

Henry - how far is this hike from Livingston?

Hi Christine, it’s about 10 miles or 15-20 minutes. 1/3 of that is the dirt road to the trailhead. They close the gate part way up in winter though so you would walk or ski from there. Cheers. -H

I saw that. Very cute but VERY dangerous. A grizzly recently killed two hikers in Banff and we've had a few attacks here in Montana this year. I was definitely very aware on this hike. -H
