I don’t think luxury content is dead but it has become boring in my opinion. It’s so repetitive with the same stuff like unboxing, hauls, shopping vlogs etc… And I feel like everyone aspires for the same boring bags like a Chanel flap or a Birkin so the excitement is gone🤷🏽♀️

So true. Last year I was looking for reviews on the Loewe flamenco bag and I think I found 4 from Asian content creators. It’s all Chanel flap and Birkin/Kelly.

Glad to hear that you aren't leaving! I used to watch a lot more luxury youtube than I do now. I still love luxury but I'm not as focused on it as I once was. The videos I don't like are the massive hauls because it seems like the person didn't make thoughtful choices. I like knowing why someone chose a bag and how they plan to carry it. xoxo

Loved this video Autumn - I agree with what you have said here. I think we also can’t deny that these videos may be used as a litmus test for YTers to see how their channel is doing - they are clickable and the YTer gets people saying ‘don’t leave’ etc The YTers I started watching I barely watch now, I find their content and format very repetitive. I love making connections with new YTers with fresh perspectives and more pragmatic presentation formats. I love a combination of unboxing, opinion, lessons and sometimes a review.

Long time lurker, first time commenter here. Autumn, I appreciate what you bring to this space talking about tough topics and what's going on in the community. I think that's something you and Jessiestyle do very well. What you said about KZbin life is spot on. I've been a full-time KZbinr for over 5 years and it's a tough road. While I only recently started doing handbag content on this channel, I have another channel about sewing that just got to 100K in January. Never had a viral video, and it took 7 years to hit that milestone. There is a lot more competition on KZbin for sure, but creators who can find a unique way to present their content can still break out and do well on this platform. As a Luxury KZbin viewer, I would love to see creators bust out of the standard unboxing, haul, and review formats and come up with new, original video ideas. I don't believe it's dead, just needs a bit of reinvention.

I love the intellect you bring to your channel Autumn. It is definitely fun to watch people unbox bags and I've been influenced by a few luxury youtubers to purchase bags (all preloved) just by seeing their good finds. Your niche is your commitment to learn everything about the bags you purchase. You see them as more than accessories or objects. I am a stationary lover and finally broke down and purchased the LV 3 Ring Agenda GM thanks in part to your review(s). Best decision ever and I think of you sometimes as I reach for it. Its helpful to bring meaning to the bags and purchases, especially for those of us who do work and save to splurge on luxury items. I started watching luxury channels only about 15 months ago so when the topic came up that luxury KZbin channels were dying I felt dismayed! Thank you for the topic, the update and all that you give to your KZbin community. I'm watching!

Luxury is evolving rapidly, a lot of the KZbinrs seem to be doing the same things, and basically you see brands like Chanel, Hermes, Gucci etc. There is so many brands that don’t get mention, it would nice to see how to style the bags with your wardrobe, just showing bags is sort of limited incorporate other accessories.

I think there are many reasons that have been given by people who have left. It seems the price increases coupled with the economy has turned some people off and see that as a reason to not be interested in luxury. Luxury comes in many forms. It isn’t always a 10k Birkin. I’m still here for all of it.

Treat this platform like a business. Supply and demand. Good advice! I like that you pose questions at the end of your videos; not all content creators do that, but t's a great way to involve audiences in the conversation. Makes the interactions more personable. That's what I'd like to see more of from others, in all genres, from luxury to contemporary, even cooking vlogs. I love this channel because the presentations are educational, thought-provoking, and interesting. Sometimes you have me thinking for days. I love that! I love that we get to see Baron, Roxy, and Vincent from time to time. They are sooooo precious! Love that your family joins in from time to time as well!

I like videos like this one. Reflection, chatting related to different topics around luxury. I don’t watch unboxings and moreover huge hauls. I also don’t give a credit on videos containing half of the time sponsored content. Like 15 minutes of jewelry collection with half of the time Idyll marketing. Those YT are loosing credibility. And although I love Hermès I don’t look at “Hermès journey stories “ to get a bag offered.

Just found your channel Autumn. Such a considered video. I completely agree. You can't blame the KZbin system if in actuality you have just got to the end of the line. A lot of the luxury KZbinrs who are saying the same as Jerusha have been in the lux community for a similar amount of time and it maybe has run it's course for them. They need to either adapt and grow or decide it is no longer for them. It may be they now have diff priorities and want to move on. That is perfectly fine but I also commented on Connor's video as I agree with Connor that I find this very dismissive to those of us who are new to KZbin and have a passion for what we are doing. Luxury KZbin is not dead it is just constantly evolving and that is the same for any industry. Luxury fashion houses are reporting higher profits and results so that tells you the Lux industry is not dying, it's thriving and therefore KZbin will follow suit. Jerusha was a little bit dismissive of anyone doing Hauls on their videos but this is what helped grow her channel so I am not sure why she feels this way. If she has decided it is not for her anymore then move on but don't frown on anyone who loves that content. I am 9 months into my You Tube Channel and learning everyday and constantly changing adapting and considering how I want my channel to be. If a video doesn't work I try to figure out why and adapt. I don't blame everyone around me. Great Video Autumn and glad I found you!

Great video! Everyone is either jumping ship or changing topics and forgetting about the folks who are still here for the luxury content! Luxury YT is really a niche crowd, so you’re not going to get those huge views like some other topics/passions, you really have to enjoy the content you’re presenting and stick with it despite the shift! “quiet luxury” is just a phase and this too shall pass, when it does where will that creator be?! Of course, styles and preferences change and I’m here for that. But let’s keep it authentic and no just “on trend”. I agree with all of your points and I look forward to your videos! Glad you’re sticking with YT. 😊

I have a wide variety channels that I enjoy watching. Chit chat videos too like this one and Jerusha’s. I think for Jeffrey leaving YoutTube is more about leaving a platform to go to TikTok to connect with the up and coming youth that don’t watch KZbin as much. Great video! As someone who only started watching luxury YT last Fall, and who hasn't made any large purchases yet, I find that I already have a love/hate with the whole thing. 1) This is specific to me, but because I don't have an LV or Chanel, etc yet, and might not ever, it's slightly... "insulting" isn't the best word, but I can't think of anything better, to now - somewhat suddenly - start hearing that everyone is"over" the luxury items that I haven't even attained yet. 2) again, just personal opinion, but since I'm literally at the very start of my collection, it's actually kind of disorienting to see unboxing after unboxing. Aren't people happy with the bag I just saw them unbox last week? And this new one is very similar? It seems like one expensive purchase didn't really give them much satisfaction and they felt a drive to get something else. So where can someone like me start? And should I even bother? It seems like no amount of luxury brings purse peace or a sense of contentment. And that doesn't make me want to watch more videos. It makes me tune out.

Great vid Autumn, I think you made some great points. I totally understand that everyone is different but I personally can’t stand constant massive hauls. I don’t understand how they could live that many bags and think it’s greedy. Each to their own own but I don’t watch YT who post vids like that.

I can’t afford Chanel, Hermes etc but I love watching videos on these bags, because I find them beautiful. I don’t like the massive haul KZbinrs. I prefer people who are more discerning in what they buy and maybe that’s because they can’t buy all the things. If I see a handbag collection that is 20 different classic flaps, I’m bored! But collections that are a mix of new and vintage, or designer and contemporary etc I find really interesting. I love it when I see lesser known bags such as Acne bags or say JW Anderson or Chloe etc too. Love your channel.

You were the first luxury YT channel I subscribed to mainly because you were a regular person, like me. I’m not rich, I’m a povvo, I used to be a teacher, and I wanted a luxury bag for many years before I was able to afford my first one. I liked your mix of new bags and great advice on preloved bags. I don’t think luxury KZbin is dying, people who leave will always be replaced by new channels. I’m personally tired of channels with endless unboxings, especially the ones who well, have more money than places to actually go to wear the bags. 😂😂😂 Im also sick of the “quiet luxury” topic, great pay a lot to seem understatedly wealthy. I do so agree. Fabulous points. The accusation of 'insensitivity' does annoy me. I sympathise with the poorer people, but it is up to them to decide not to watch a video because it will distress them. It is not up to me/you to censor ourselves. (We do need to remember to donate to help others, but that is a different story.) Thank you for the video! Your channel is not among the very biggest, but it is among the very best. Your quality is always top notch. PS: My KZbin consumption is varied. I like luxury, but also travel (Gavin and Paul See the World is highly recommended Disclaimer: They are personal friends!) and my new obsession is grocery haul videos, especially from the USA!

Hi Autumn, I laughed when you said what videos are you sick of. This topic comes first to mind. I watched your video only because it’s you. I respect your opinions, I enjoy your videos and so because it was your video, I watched this. Everyone else these past few weeks, with maybe one or two exceptions, I skipped right over them. I don’t usually watch departure videos. I can’t help feeling it’s an ego stroke on the creator who is looking to get all the comments telling them how wonderful they are, don’t leave, etc etc. and then lo and behold they turn up a little while later with a rejuvenated mindset because they missed everyone. You come up with content that I haven’t ever thought of before sometimes, so it’s hard for me to give ideas or suggestions for what I’d like to see. Just more of whatever is interesting you will be fine with me. I will admit I don’t like the loud, brash, innuendo laced videos some people put out. But that’s just me. I know there are others who enjoy them, and that’s great. I would never watch a video and then dislike it because I know in advance it’s a style I don’t enjoy. I like hauls and unboxings and reveals, but I don’t need a steady diet of them either. Sometimes that can be a bit much too. I think the best videos are authentic to the creator, and not just someone who’s solely out for views. 💕

I don't think luxury KZbin is dying at all! I love luxury KZbin :) I'm subscribed to most of the luxury channels...I find it all fascinating! From the huge channels to the small channels - because I like to hear all of your different perspectives :) Some channels I go to purely for a review on a particular bag (and may not subscribe) When I subscribe to a channel I tend to click subscribe more for the actual KZbinr - because I like the individual or their personality...rather than the content alone. I may find a channel I love through looking for a particular item - then choose to stay for that KZbinr :) For example Andri...I found her through looking for a particular bag review! And now watch every single video she puts out because she has an amazing personality and is a lovely person in general :) Same reason I subscribed to you Autumn :)

Very good analysis of this issue. I think also the nature of luxury goods is changing…it’s not sustainable for luxury houses to keep raising prices while lowering quality and not pay their employees what they should; really it’s not ethical to trick people into paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for the privilege of spending tens of thousands of dollars for a single bag. Inflation is making affordable luxuries increasingly out of reach for many average people and social media is making many luxury goods seem lmass market. I think it’s a great opportunity to reinvent the luxury genre….I’d like to see influencers like yourself introduce us to more reasonable and lesser known brands with quality goods that are a reach and a treat but not out of the question. You’ve done a good job on your channel doing that with Coach and Hammit…that’s what I’m looking for these days.

I love art. Not everyone can afford original pieces....so I visit art galleries, museums,or public displays. I love handbags, but at this time even if I could buy a Hermès or Chanel handbag I don't think I would. I do however, watch luxury KZbin channel and follow fashion trends because I enjoy it, I find it fascinating, and fun. I don't have to own a piece to admire it and find it beautiful or a work of great skill. I don't want to own a Picasso but I do own a few original paintings in a modern style that I have collected over the past 20 years. 20 year old me never thought I would own original paintings, I would have to live vicariously at a museum or gallery. I don't love ever new piece of original art produced this year even by artists I like other pieces of. I still follow their work, because maybe the next piece I will. Same with fashion trends and handbags. I don't find anything now I have to add to my collection, but I can appreciate pieces others love and are excited to have acquired.

I like all the new content, I like watching all the videos! I would like more about how people use the bags, like why I use this bag for x,y,z. I always think its interesting, like are you really going to use that cosmetic case as a clutch? Is that vanity case more than just that? We all say I can use it for so many things, but I always find I never do. I bought a pouch for lipstick then found out it was even better for my earpods, I got a luggage vanity that is actually a medical bag, and the other one holds makeup pallets, or those old school show luggage bags are the best gym bags,

I don't like JS and never have. Its just because he had birkins, I imagine, that she puts him in the luxury area. I stopped watching Jerusha ages ago so I'm not sure who else she'd be talking about. Apparently the tube has altered the algorithm and how numbers are counted so there's difference in views from previous and other folks are up in arms about it as well. I think the choices are expanding, people are less haul focused and more styling, care and info focused which, frankly, I prefer. I agree, its evolving and changing into the next phase.

I’ve moved over to smaller channels that unbox more attainable bags I may want. Finding special things that are attainable are more fun to watch. I don’t really feel like I can relate to Jerusha or Shea anymore because they moved on to a level I won’t be shopping. I love their personalities but often their content isn’t what interests me now. I’m more interested in everything but Chanel and Hermes. I think once they start buying Chanel they don’t go back to their LV, Longchamp or Gucci which are the bags new luxury viewers/collectors want to see and consider purchasing.

I have followed luxury channels but I’m bored with it right now everything is so over priced that I’m watching other videos on fashion n lifestyle more. I’m not looking to get any bags now happy with my collection right now

I think there will be a shift to vintage bags and middle priced bags. More about curating and refurbishing instead of collecting. It just seems boring to me that everyone is collecting Birkins and Chanel flaps. I also don't watch any Chanel or Hermes collections, because it is boring to me. But luxury won't disappear.

Hi Autumn. This is a very interesting topic for sure. My son told me I should start a channel but I’m more interested in talking about Art and painting and I’ve been viewing these artists channels and there is a lot of them. A lot to talk about for sure. Yes one has to be dedicated and involved in order to keep a breast of a channel to be successful. I watched recently a woman give her formula for this and I’m sorry I don’t remember her name. If I find it, I will email you her you tube handle. Is luxury dead? Probably never. I will go look at your links now. Thank you for another thoughtful video. I hope I am contributing to help raise your algorithm. Take care and I look forward to your next post.

Jeffree Star stopped posting on KZbin because he prefers TikTok and IG stories. He bought a ranch in Montana and is raising Yaks. He also owns a successful makeup & skincare line. Also he didn’t shut down his channel he just doesn’t post on it. He still has his expensive luxury cars & handbag collections and was invited to Paris as a guest of Louis Vuitton for a fashion show so he hasn’t left the luxury community he’s just doing other things as well. I actually am sick of KZbin luxury channels so I stopped watching several of them. It’s getting boring. I prefer fragrance and skincare review channels. I also have a full time busy career so I simply don’t have much time for KZbin. I watch maybe 5 channels and that’s it 🤷🏼♀️

I sure don’t watch much anymore. It’s gotten boring and forced. Plus I’m just not into the luxury items like I once was. I sold off most of them because I hate clutter and it seems I use my Lulu belt bag most of the time. Lol. During covid I had more time to watch videos, now I don’t even click if it’s over 20 minutes or so. Life has gotten busy again. I’ve gotten to the point if it’s an unboxing I want to see, I’ll just scroll to it and be done. Best of luck to you, Autumn. I can tell you put thought and time in your videos (and you do it well)

I'm still looking for a perfect bag for me or one where I know I really want at my price point, so I'll continue. I do get a bit envy from not being where I want in life and that I should've bought that damn Chanel bag many years ago 😂

I want to know the story of the handbag. If this bag could talk, when it was created, when it was repurposed or trashed, when the investment went down the toilet "literally," funny and serious POV.

The term luxury has been used and abused, almost to the point of becoming a slur and vulgar. Not because it is, but because the term has been over used. The new trend for people who still want luxury, but a more chic, muted, and understated old money aesthetic, is of course the "quite luxury" movement. Logo mania, and the slowly crashing economy, just don't go together.😊

Hi Autumn! You mentioned in your vlog that you are surprised that some people are still working virtually from home. I'm sure there are many reasons for this, but one reason we all need to remember is that some people may not survive a diagnosis of C under no fault of their own. They may have been born with an illness that severely lowers their immune system, or be allergic to the vaccine. Unprotected means it may be safer for them to work from home. They may be under cancer treatments. They may have lung or heart disease. They may have diabetes. They may be in the most vulnerable group for many reasons, including age. We all need to remember this when we go into public places, such as grocery stores, shops, and medical/dental offices. C is still out there, and the latest omicron variant is the most transmissible of all, experts say; and this is expected to continue. This is what viruses do. They mutate. People who are fully vaccinated are getting C, and potentially spreading the virus unknowingly with little to no symptoms. What some people see as their right to unmask in populated areas, may alter another person's life, and their families forever. None of us would want to be responsible for that. Please everyone, think about the stranger in front of you at the grocery store. We don't know their story. Consider wearing a mask, or at the very least socially distancing from those wearing masks. They may be stopping by the store to grab some food on their way home from a cancer treatment. Not everyone has family or resources to help them. Just wanted to share. It's a new world, some might say, and I'd have to agree.

For every one luxury KZbinr who leaves, another will replace her/him. These long form videos aren’t going anywhere, they are needed to research! lol
