I love that you did what you felt was right for your birthday, instead of doing the “social norm” of getting blacked out. On my 21st, I ended up crying at dinner with my family and boyfriend (I was also very tired from having my nursing school clinicals earlier that day) because everyone kept shoving drinks in my face. I’m in nursing school rn and just turned 21 so I can relate to you!! I was away from home for my bday and just had dinner with my bf but ended up breaking down and crying because I had so much homework to turn in that day 😭 I felt pressured to go all out for my 21st like everyone else does but it’s okay to do what is right for you and makes you happy!!

Ava and I are the same age, and I literally just turned 21 like two weeks ago. I've been watching Ava since early high school, and I'm sitting here absolutely so in awe of how far Ava has come and how amazing she is, and then it hits me that I'm almost exactly the same age as her, and I've come so far too, and that makes my heart happy. It’s so interesting that at 14 you felt like turning 14 made you relatively old 😅. I felt the same way when I was turning 17 and basically every birthday since then. But looking back to those ages and realizing that I wasn’t old at any of those ages gives me perspective that I’m not old now at 22 either. I feel like a lot of us feel old as soon as we become an older teenager but we gotta remember that we have plenty of time!! 😌😌
