In this alternate ending, I'd like to think after locking eyes with Cipher, Pixy collapses from his injuries sustained while ejecting. Cipher walks over and kneels down next to Pixy, and the two briefly talk about what they were fighting for. With the final battle over, and no reason to keep fighting, Cipher helps his buddy walk his wounded body to the closest settlement.

2018 "Galm 1, leader of Ustio's famous Mercenary team 6th air unit 66th tactical air squadron the famed Demon Lord of the Belkan War. So... you went to all this trouble to find me, guess you really want to know what I thought of the war, or perhaps to waste my time. Mercenary: They teach you it is either you kill or be killed, that either you live and get paid or die and your money and belongings go to someone else. In war there is no mercy, I did what I did by that principle. I came to Ustio as a merc, and left as a hero to its people, their savior. Yet I am no hero, I will freely admit that. The Belkan's pride and arrogance was their weakness one that I knew well to exploit, to you the 7 nuclear detonations was an act of desperation, I saw it as a symbol of their wounded pride and ego. I do not blame Pixy for making the choices he did, seeing the world ignore the atrocity before them blinded by their greed for land and resources. Yet when the time came to take him down at Avalon, I did what I was asked. Soldier: They teach you war is not about glory or pride, it is about duty and service to a higher cause. I did what I did by that principle serving Ustio as a foreign soldier, and have left as a hero. The Belkan's fought for a cause they believed in, the restoration of their country, yet nations rise and fall, and Belka's time had already been and gone. I saw the nuclear detonations as evidence of that, the defiant last act of a nation refusing to accept that it had lost. I could understand why Pixy made his decision, clearly it was national pride and ego which lead to the horror in Waldereich, yet holding the world at nuclear gunpoint would not fix the problem either. I fought him to save my adopted country and the world from the horror he almost succeeded in unleashing. Knight: They teach you that there is no greater honor than to serve your country and its people. I did what I did by that principle, serving Ustio in its time of need against Belka, I felt that the title of merc did me a diservice, In a way the Belkans were not that different, given their history. I saw the 7 detonations as a symbol of a nation unable to swallow its pride. I felt that Pixy had abandoned his duty yet in the same sense understand why, he did not hold the same values as I did. When it came time to face him at Avalon I knew I had to put aside our old friendship for the greater good. At the end of the day, I suppose it does not matter what happened or what could have been, what matters is how it ended, the Belkan War ended in victory for Ustio, after the war ended I took my pay and headed to Emmeria, I decided to take a job as a flight instructor, much as I tried could never give up my wings. Yet I never forgot about Pixy, wondering if he survived... he did? well, if you do go back to him, tell him he needs to get his ass over here, cause I have a few choice words for him.

The accompanying vocal tracks and subtle guitars got me a bit emotional, not gonna lie. Avalon and Diapason were always my favorite tracks from Zero, i’d hum along to them as a kid and get weird looks from my family. They carry so much weight imo, the Liberation of Directus and its people screaming “Belkans get out! Get the hell out of our city!” and then the same motifs being used in such a grave situation as stopping the V2 launch while every major player is in on the desperate struggle to stop AWWNB, plus the breathing in the track which i believe is meant to convey that even Cipher himself is stressed out beyond belief. I could go on for hours. This is a wonderful remix, and i cant wait to go through the rest. Wish i had seen it sooner.
