Its actually the X-29. It actually existed as a test plane.

@@trivipesnipe developed on the F-5 platform by Grumman in conjunction with NASA to continue testing done by Junkers during the later days of the war. No surprises there considering where most of NASA came from. So yes, it is in fact a cursed, super-maneuvering F-5.

Well you aren't entirely wrong, it was a F-5 Tiger body with the tail and landing gear from a F-16 along with the flight computer from the SR-71 to aid in controlling the aerodynamically unstable forward swept wings and canards,
