Cheap and chinese isnt because they are made in China it's because that's what the businesses want for higher profit. You can purchase low and very high quality stuff from China you decide. That being said just like in the US all coatings are not created equal even when they are made by the same formulating companies because.... different companies want sifferent things and to be different places in the market so even though Blender X makes two products and they look and smell similar one has more actual effective ingredients. I have never used Avalon King but there have been enough tests and testimonies ( yup and some were sponsored) to show that it is a cut above the usual coatings we see from China. SPTA buffers/ polishers are made in China but they are good quality so we can't just sum up all Chinese products as garbage even though I have seen/tested a fair share

scott you need to do an expose on ceramic pro. I think there's way less awareness that they are a chinese company, both HQ and manufactured, and that their product can be bought similarly for fractions of the price

I asked the question on Avalon Kings Fakebook page where the product was manufactured, they replied that it was Made in China, so they did tell the truth. I had already purchased 2 kits of the ceramic coating. Since I already had them I put it on my 2018 Honda CRV on 22 May 2021. So far it's holding up ok but has some weak places on the lower door panels. I did the proper prep work before application. I used to own an auto detail shop so the prep work was 100% correct. I only applied one coat, as of right now I think I might get 1 year or less of protection from it. I have also washed it several times using the correct ph soap, can't say I did it every 2 weeks ( we had A LOT of rain this year so I missed some weekly washes, I live in GA, USA ) but I have kept up the maintenance. The coating works and after the original application the car DID look awesome. It seems to be fading now, I can't really complain but there is no way I will get 2 to 3 years out of it. In my opinion the coating is just OK, not great, not poor. That is my 5 month report. Hope this helps.

I used mine on a couple of cars, including a 2009 CR-V. I applied it in September 2020, and I would say that by spring of this year, it had nearly completely failed on the paint. But what really surprised me is that the plastic trim, which on the CR-V is prone to typical sun bleaching, the ceramic coating still has the plastic looking like new. It is starting to get slightly blotchy on the trim now in just a couple of places (you have to get up close to see it) but otherwise, compared to another 2009, the ceramic-treated plastic still looks much better, almost like new. At least thanks to Scott's videos, and especially this one, I can get about the same level of performance at a third of the price. And also, based on his tests, if paying $70 or more for a better coating only nets me another six months of protection, what's the point?

I had a bad experience with the Avalon King Armour Shield 9 I recently installed on my new Yukon in that it's failing shockingly early. A little background, vehicle had 300 miles on it at this point: Just over 3 weeks ago the 16 hours of prep work started so I could install this coating. I started with performing 2 contact washes using Adam's Strip Wash and my foam cannon. From there I used a synthetic clay mitt to clay the entire vehicle. Adam's Detail Spray was used as the clay lubricant. Following this, I hit the Yukon with a light polish using Griot's Garage Perfecting Cream. Final step before applying the coating was going over the whole thing with Gyeon Prep. Lastly, the Avalon King coating was applied and left to cure for 4 full days before the Yukon was driven. During this entire period, the garage was kept at 70 degrees. Fast forward to yesterday when I performed the first contact wash (Adam's Graphene Shampoo) since the coating was applied and the entire vehicle is sheeting water really slow! It's possible I did something wrong but I can't see where. Now I know why!

AvalonKing was the product I just tried due to name recognition. With some creatively applied discounts it is 40$ a bottle. The thing that turned me off was I couldn’t get it to flash over a lot of the time. With a 30ml bottle I could barely do 1/3rd of a car. Applying it heavily seemed to help but then I ran out very quickly. Surface might have been contaminated and Mothers CMX surface prep wasn’t enough to clean it (after waterless wash and clay bar). I tried cleaning panels with new microfibers and multiple passes and it didn’t seem help. Only thing that worked was applying heavily.

Or it's another way of saying that Avalon King for $70 performs like a $20-$30 ceramic coating from Amazon, all made by the same company. (Your battery of tests is proving that to be the case.) If I pay $70, I would want it to perform like a $70 ceramic coating, not a $20 coating. It's essentially an impulse-buy, overpriced "influencer" product. My experience with Avalon King pretty much matches your test results--it won't even last two years. (Thankfully I bought a few bottles at a deep discount, not the full $70.)

Great detective work here, Scott. That said, I think the logic is weak. As someone working for a US cosmetic brand, I can tell you first hand that most companies are producing in China due to the fact that you can get a superior product compared to the price it would cost in the US. But more importantly, just because Avalon King's supplier can produce a product cheaper, doesn't mean that their formula and contents are the same. Another way to look at it is that just because Home Depot is producing and selling a 5 gal. bucket, doesn't mean that they can't produce and sell other buckets. Full disclosure: I am a customer of theirs.

I love your videos in general Scott, but this is video is silly. We live in 2021, why would US products be better than Chinese, or vice versa? It has nothing to do with the country of origin, but rather the production processes and raw materials used. I have worked almost 20 years in consumer packaging goods and you would be surprised to know that about 75% of all US companies are producing in China because they are able to serve a better product to the consumer than they would otherwise be able to with the cost of goods in the US. Again, I love your videos that show longevity and testing but you should stay away from topics like this. You sound like a bitter old man that has a problem with Chinese people/companies.
