I am Jewish and I danced and sang in Jewish performing groups for decades. I have also been a fan of the youngsters who dance Palestinian dances and have been here for a few tours. All people are special and their dances and songs are wonderful. Ah yes, there is the bottle dance popularized in Fiddler on the Roof. Some of the earliest Israeli dances are just beautiful and the songs as well. More about Kibbutz life. I guess that's over.
@semihkavakli79462 ай бұрын
This isnot a Palestinian dance. It is far east Europe dance originating from paganTurkic tribes who turned to Jewish religion in 700 AD.

Folk dancing still lives and that is a very good thing. It is great if one can have some type of connection with one's roots and the different flavors of their cultures.
@fuldagermany9 жыл бұрын
I do not feel that is true. I am white and identify with a number of cultural groups that I was not born out of and some that are genetic ... I really love the diversity of life. So, I am attempting to understand what you said because I do not. Anyone can have a personal cultural identity if they choose and if one exists. What does that have to do with racism. Of course, unless racism is a part of one's imagined culture ... cause culture morphs as time pases as does everything. I, personally, identify myself, in myself, as a global citizen and a humane human being. We truly are actors on a stage ... Shakespeare got that spot on.
@fuldagermany9 жыл бұрын
No one should be ashamed of who they are despite race, religion, etc. There is only shame where they is harm being done. No harm, no shame. Did you see the many structures all around the world built by different races throughout the ages ... we do not have a clue how they did what they did in many cases and cannot replicate much of it. The soul is colorless from what I understand from all the teachings I have been reading over the years.
@fuldagermany9 жыл бұрын
Spot on, Lion, I am Eastern European by birth and genetics. I had a doctor tell me that the shape of my foot was Neanderthal so are many feet of statues in Rome (I actually did look at them when I was there). Thank goodness that the rest of our heads and the rest of our bodies changed into shapes more pleasing over time. I enjoy learning from really good documentaries, PBS and BBC, and it is amazing the things one can learn.

This sure is nothing like the Jewish dancing we did in the 1960's. Costumes are similar, but very different, steps are exaggerated and large, Klezmer accompaniment. We used chalil (flute), middle eastern drum, accordion and lots of singing. After the 6 day war, our Israeli dancers were eliminated from festivals. They still had Klezmer and Shtetyl dances, but our Israeli dances that came from Arab melodies were on the outs.
I am Jewish and proud of my people. I love love this music and dance.

+Ed Camp You make mistake because you confuse the real israelites the palestiniens, and the ashkenazis jews who are not even semite. If your Bible asks you to support the people of Israel it's the palestinians the descendants of people of jesus and not the impostor secular Israel that has occupied this land on the name of Torah. Jewish historian and geneticien proved that the zionist version of the jewish people story is a pure myth. Jesus wasn't, isn't, and won't be zionist.
