Ah YESS! Thank you for finally reacting to them. I'm always so happy to see people reacting to Avantasia because they need more recognition. Also prepare, this is gonna be a text wall because you need more info about them, lol. So Avantasia initially was a project of Tobias Sammet (that singer with a hat). He has his first band Edguy (which is also worth listening) but he created Avantasia only for two albums (The Metal Opera part 1&2), that was the idea at first. It was like a super project with so many guest vocalists and musicians. After these two albums Tobi said that it was the end of Avantasia but in 2008 he came back with The Scarecrow album and the first world tour and the first band DVD, which is The Flying opera. I'm sure by now Avantasia is considered a super band because they have pretty much stable lineup when they go on tour. Tobi is working on 9th album. He is basically a mastermind behind it all, he writes the lyrics and together with Sascha Paeth (the other guitarist and the producer of the band) creates melodies and everything else. All albums are conceptual albums with different stories and concepts. You might noticed but they are a German band. Usually they have 2 or 3 backing vocalists. They have so many epic songs and quite a few that are over 10 minutes. I'm so glad you're gonna react to the other one i recommended. It's another epic longer song from the latest album Moonglow.

Avantasia is great. So many excellent albums. See Wikipedia. Avantasia is based on the same principle as another great band called Ayreon. One guy composing al the music and writing the lyrics and inviting other well known musicians to play and sing with him on the albums and in the live concerts. Both composers know each other well and play on each other’s albums. Best song to start with Ayreon: the day that the world brakes down, 11 singers. Then the two epic live concerts: Ayreon Universe live, with Floor Jansen . The electric castle live and other tales, with Simone Simons. See Wikipedia.

Great band (project) and great song. You are correct, It is Amanda. If you like these wonderful guitar play and good vocals I would recommend the band Helloween with Keeper of the seven Keys or How many Tears from the Pumpkins United Tour (United Alive DVD)

Avantasia is great, one of my all-time favourite bands, and Jørn Lande one of my favorite singers along with Tobias. Check out "Let the storm descend upon you", "The Raven Child" or " even one of the oldest, but probably one of the best tunes of all-time "The Seven Angels" from the second album released nearly 20 (!) years ago. :) You will definitely not be disappointed.

@@Detrucci Yeah, I imagine burnout is a big thing with reactions. I've noticed that with others. Heck, I know I sure got burnt out a lot before I retired. 😁

@@floridabelle Very true, burnout happened everywhere in all kinds of different aspects. I got burnt out from really life in general and especially all things internet related. When it comes down to it I really dont care at all about anything to do with fortune or fame or any of that crap. I needed a step back from it all and just go silent for a good while, no distractions kind of thing. Even things like graphic design and hobbies I lost all passion for. Worth it :) Wouldn't change a thing about what happened.

@@Detrucci I totally get it. Since my fall and not healing properly, my body is suffering physically, mentally, and visually. Currently I don't have the ability or motivation to get going which causes more damage in the long run. The only thing I'm good at right now is putting on a good front and listening to music. Having a hard time getting around, even more so in this heat, I dream of cooler weather to help me to at least make an effort.

Great reaction! This is an amazing band and an amazing concert, well worth listening to/watching. If you're not familiar with it, Wacken Open Air is one of the largest metal festivals in Europe and takes place in August every year (I think?). It's in Germany and regularly gathers around 70-80 000 metal fans from all over the world as well as some of the most interesting bands. It's pronounced with a V, and a short 'a' sound, like Vacken. Some legendary gigs have been played here, like Nightwish 2013, Sabaton 2019 (they had two stages to themselves!) as well as many others. Wacken recordings are usually very high quality audio and video wise but they can be harsh with copyright claims if you monetize them, I believe.

Welcome Back, I missed you. Yes that's Amanda Sommerville, she sings also in the Women symphonic metal supergroup 'Exit Eden' together with Clémentine Delauney, Anna Brunner & Marina La Torraca And the 2nd vocalist is Jørn Lande.
