I've seen so many ATLA reactions, after watching it 100 times myself. That scene never fails to stop, even the most talkative reactor, in their tracks. And a lot of times they give a "Damn..." i don't wanna sound unsensitive here but why does everybody think the Iroh scene is so sad? i mean we barely even knew lu ten. For me for example seeing Aang so devestated after loosing appa or loosing other airbenders is more sad than that. After all Lu Ten was fighting in a cruel war and as i said we never really even met him. Is it the song which makes you guys sad or what? Please tell me because i feel like i don't have a heart when everybody keeps saying they cry everytime they see that scene. I mean I usually cry about everything while watching movies and shows but somehow i don't cry watching that scene 😅 what is wrong with meeee

sarah s Have you ever grieved? Grief isn't logical. You don't look at someone and say, oh they were in a dangerous situation so it is less sad that they died. Grief is all compassion. How do you think it would feel to lose the person you loved more than anyone else in the world? Gone forever. Anyone that has lost someone close to them, who love and can empathize with Iroh would be sad at that scene.

Quite impressive that an episode with no real bearing on the overall plot and that doesn't really progress the storyline can still be widely considered one of the series' best, just because of how attached we are to the characters themselves, and how enjoyable it is just to watch them. And it does make sense that the last story would be the one with Momo, but for spoiler-y reasons I'll hold off on why.

Most of the lines in this Book are still Mako's job guys, only a few lines that were recorded after his passing. If you didn't remember from a previous episode. When Iroh lost his son he basically went into depression, when he was close to conquering Ba Sing Se which basically said he was a poor general which he wasn't. LOL that's what I think everyone says - that Iroh's tale should've been last...though, I still love the last scene for reasons. Apparently, there was supposed to be an episode completely dedicated to Iroh's backstory but that was scrapped. Kind of wished we had more Iroh episodes, but I guess this was enough. God, I really do love Iroh's tale though! It makes you wonder if the reason he's always so kind and helpful to others is because he wasn't able to help his own son? :( "Leaves from the vine" also just killed me! At first it was such a happy song used to cheer up a crying boy ...and then it turned into a tragic sad song dedicated to his son on his birthday. The mood just 180 real quick, ya know? Also, if you were wondering what the writing on the picture said, it roughly translated to: "To General Iroh: See you after we win the War. Your loyal son, Lu Ten" And Greg Baldwin (Iroh's replacement) is not Mako's brother, but he is his understudy and a long-time student of his voice. Rest in peace, Mako Iwamatsu...You're still greatly missed

The final scene of his is in my opinion the best emotional thing in the entire series because it's the only thing that consistently makes me emotional mostly because of how much music affects me more than other things. I love that we actually see a vulnerable side to Toph in this episode. She tries hard to not be the helpless, fragile little girl her parents see her as, but she was clearly hurt by the girls teasing her on the bridge. Damn, this show was well written!

I have been excited for you guys to react to this episode. When I was 9 years old and this was first airing on tv, this was one of the episodes that made me cry a bit( the Iroh part). I still get teary eyed now and I am 17. My dad recently died so, seeing Iroh reminded me of that. Great reaction guys!

If someone asked me which episode of ATLA best showcased why a character is the way they are, I'd point them to Iroh's segment of this episode. The way I see it, Iroh cherishes life and encourages the good in others because he had a piece of him taken away, obviously the loss of a child will drastically change a person. In this case Iroh becomes an individual that tries his best to not let others feel the level of pain he experienced by helping and guiding them towards a positive outcome, but at the same time the damage shows and he knows that he's never going to be able to help the person he truly wants to, resulting in a man that is both broken and made stronger through his ideals and the actions he takes to protect the loved ones he has left.
