Aang managed to remind Jet of his past as a Freedom Fighter and bring him back to his senses. Jet regained his senses and attacked Long Feng, who dodged and retaliated with a fatal blow. When the rest of the gang as well as Smellerbee and Longshot showed up, Katara checked his injuries and said that it did not look too good. Smellerbee told them to leave to find Appa. They refused to leave them, but Longshot spoke up, saying that they would stay with him since he was their leader. Jet insisted to Katara that he would be all right, but Toph sensed that he was lying. Smellerbee remained by Jet's side, crying, while Longshot notched an arrow and aimed it at the entrance of the room, ready to prevent any more attack. Jet subsequently died from his serious internal injuries.

I always find this episode sorta bittersweet. I enjoy it well enough, but it also signals the beginning of the end for the series. And Shane raised an interesting point I'd never considered, about how Toph had never had the same sort of antagonistic relationship with Zuko, so didn't really have a field trip episode.

Even though this was essentially a recap episode, it was done very in a very fun and creative way as opposed to a generic, boring clip show. I also give major props to the creators and writers for actually making fun of their own work and acknowledging the fans in every way. The Katara/Zuko thing was more from the fans of the ship than the actual show (that last part is my opinion, so Zutara shippers, don't hate me).

I'm in complete agreement with Eric, the scene between them in the crystal catacombs never felt romantic to me, it was trust and friendship building. I can understand why some people interpret it romantically, but I honestly think that, when you do, it weakens the scene as a whole because there is a lot of meaning behind it that doesn't have anything to do with shipping.

MetallicaRules Oh yeah I agree, that scene wasn't meant to be romantic, they just got to know each other for like 5 minutes how could they fall in love instantly, it was more about them two bonding and understanding each other like no other characters understands them, and was them opening up to each other, Zuko opened up to her about his abuse something he doesn't talk about much with anyone and Katara opens up about her moms death also something she doesn't talk much about with anyone, Zuko also let's Katara touch his scar, she is the first person he ever lets do this, it was supposed to lead onto something romantic in the future, but that wasn't the direction the story went later on.

This episode is really great, it's a nice and funny episode to get both the audience and the characters mind off the war and troubles they are facing and have them enjoy a play and relax a little bit. The play is really awesome on how it recaps everything, and also kinda made fun of some parts like "The Great Divide" episode. The flyer for the play is almost the same as the cover for ATLA Book 1, I thought that was really cool as well. And yeah, I wish we had something with Toph going somewhere with Zuko, that would've been really nice and complete the whole Gaang going on an important trip with Zuko. But then again Toph didn't have much of a history with Zuko as Katara, Sokka and Aang did. And Aaron I kinda like the idea of Zuko with Katara too! Well now comes the 4 parts of the Sozins Comet, I can't wait so much awesome stuff happens! Can't believe we got to this point so fast I remember when you guys first reacted to "The Awakening" episode like it was yesterday!

United Islander's Delegation it's better as a multi video. they can only react to 10 mins of a show. so if they put the finale as one we only get 10 mins. with multi videos we'll get 40 mins

Actually the movie was out around the time of this episodes release, atleast the early screening, one of the writers said that last scene was a joke towards the movie, possibly last minute.
