27:31 I agree with this part. The kid actors inexperience shows at times. It’s not so bad that it’s a distraction for me but it is noticeable. I felt they got better as the season goes along. Enjoyed your reaction to the episode. I thought this was a great first episode and enjoyed this series overall. I’m not a super fan of the original show. Only saw the animated series recently in prep for this show. I’m in the tiny minority that thought the show was overrated. I see why people loved it and can see it has all the elements of a great kids show but I think for me it was just ok. I think the hype made the expectations higher for me so I was expecting an amazing cartoon. It wasn’t that for me so this adaptation was fun and I like the stuff they did with it.

The genocide scene was traumatizing. I couldn’t believe it. It was so brutal. I liked it, but yeah it was real depressing to watch.

I'd say the Gyatso scene hits way harder, and in the cartoon, Katara grabs and hugs Aang to pull him out of it. I like this version of it better. This Aang is more responsible.

If I recall correctly, Katara doesn’t pull Aang out of the air bubble in the anime/cartoon. He’s impossible to reach in that state. She has an emotional monologue to him about loss and calms him down then embraces him in the hug after he’s landed with no air bubble. He’s still in the avatar state but already calming. We don’t really get the emotional speech here until the finale, that’s all I say lol

I disagree. I like katara talking to aang in the cartoon. Aang is such a strong character already. It gives Katara such good character development and a personality. The first episode there isn’t much from katara in the live action.

Aang did nothing this entire season but talk about how he feels instead of showing it and say what he wants so how is he more responsible 😂 I dont hate the show I just wish it was better it has potential it just needs a lot better writing and directing

There is no movie in Ba Sing Se 🤭 I really enjoyed the show. I have nitpicks and things I hope get better in season 2, but I think it overall was great. They expanded on the story in some cool ways. I’m looking forward to season 2.

You can tell the parts they got best were the parts the M. Night Shamalan movie did wrong. If season 2 comes out, i hope the actors and directors get more flow and training. Chalk it up as growth, i mean. Team Avatar is kids growing through a journey.

Not sure I agree with the love for the first episode. The only redeemable parts to me are the choreography, bending, and anything that doesn't involve Aang, Katara, or Sokka. It feels like they were playing a lot at the original concepts of the show, but nothing hit as strong or as deep. If you are familiar with the show, it all just hits very shallow and feels like they're removing a lot of the depth to most of the characters. I stand by what I've seen others say - the changes are terrible, the additions are amazing.
