I'm sure that was something they only used once in the anime that they later droped off. Since they didn't cut it, but instead expanded it giving a explanation, I'm sure it's something that will happen more times in the show.

They got Kyoshi just right here. I love how much she towers over everyone, and the fight was so badass and honestly kind of terrifying. Also, I love the chemistry between Sokka and Suki.

Yeah, I love that they didn't forget that Kyoshi was actually a very tall woman. I mean, in the animated series, we get to see her height in comparison with Shin's. When I first saw that, I thought that Shin was just really small (and he was a little short-sized), but then I realized that most of it was because Kyoshi was actually very tall.

It was cool to not only see Kyoshi give a more in depth lecture to Aang on what it means to be the Avatar, but also to see Aang channel the spirit of Kyoshi in battle, like how he channels Roku’s spirit in the original series.

Personally, I enjoyed that Kyoshi was the first Avatar Aang got to meet. Sure, Roku serves as his guide in the animated series, since he was the Avatar before him. And he does a great job. However, Aang needed Kyoshi's "tough love" attitude to start to dedicate himself in becoming the Avatar. I mean, who better to pressure an insecure 12-years-old than the most badass warrior that ever lived (and lived for a long time, since she was 230 years when she died)?

@@rafaelmatos5851 I agree. Aang did need someone else to give him a rather big nudge in the right direction. Kinda reminds me of the og series, when Toph’s used her initial method of teaching Aang earthbending, by being tough and blunt.

27:04 - Aang does turn into Kyoshi, but it wasn't in the episode "The Warriors of Kyoshi". It was in the episode "Avatar Day" when Aang was arrested because Kyoshi killed Chin the Great.

Yeah, Kyoshi had a very hard childhood. Way different than her successor, Roku. No wonder the two ended up becoming very different Avatars with opposite personalities.

I love y'all's reaction to this episode. I see a lot of reactors and reviewers complaining the show toned down Sokka's sexism from the animated show. They think that gives him no arc. I think what this show did was emphasize Sokka's general inferiority about being a warrior, which gives him I think a more effective and less tropey, character development.

It's on Kyoshi Island... and they already established before he contacted her that he can only commune with his past lives unless he is at their shrine. Whether you like the change or not, we're you even paying attention? 😂

Loving this show so far because I didn't like the anime one (I'm just a casual viewer who just want powers, fighting and good CGI). This delivers on what I want in a show with powers and I like the characters with Aang and those assisting him.

my only issue with the topless Saka scene, is if the rolls would be reversed, The internet would burn from the torches of far leftist, feminists and right wing conservative people alike. but cos its a man its okay. i had the same issue with Thor Love and Thunder, when Zeus vaporized Thor's cloths, and all people man and women saw him naked ( the private parts was blurred out for us viewers) but the point is, if the person turned naked was a female like Jane Foster or Valkyrie, it would been called sexist misogynistic and all the buzzwords, she was humiliated ect... but cos it was the "simpleton" muscular man, it was hilarious.
