We have not seen ANY evidence of large numbers of Ukrainian casualties in Kursk oblast, and even "destruction" videos of vehicles usually cut off mbeforte the smoke clears, so it's clearly fishy. This reckless Kursk gambit, more akin to a desperate stunt worthy of a second-rate actor than a seasoned statesman, diverts critical resources from the primary battlefield while offering negligible strategic gain. While the incursion has captured headlines and inflicted some measure of PR damage in Russia, such superficial victories do little to alter the fundamental dynamics of the conflict. Russia, despite this minor setback, remains a formidable military power with a vast arsenal and a nuclear deterrent. Ukraine still faces a daunting challenge in overcoming this overwhelming disparity. More critically, this diversion of forces from the main theater of the conflict is a huge strategic miscalculation. Every soldier, tank and piece of artillery deployed in the Russian incursion represents a loss to the Ukrainian effort to liberate their territories. Instead, Ukraine finds itself embroiled in a costly and ultimately futile endeavor. While the world watches in fascination, the real battle for Ukraine’s future continues to unfold elsewhere. Zelensky’s decision to gamble on a high-stakes publicity stunt is a tragic misjudgment that may have far-reaching consequences. It is time for sober reflection. The Ukrainian people deserve leadership focused on practical, achievable objectives, not on grandstanding gestures. This is not to diminish the bravery of Ukrainian forces who have undoubtedly faced significant challenges in this incursion - but courage without strategic direction is a recipe for disaster. The question that must be asked is whether the risks outweigh the potential rewards. Right now, the evidence suggests a resounding negative. To squander precious resources on a symbolic gesture is a luxury the country cannot afford. The world is watching, and the stakes could not be higher. Ukraine must demonstrate wisdom and strategic acumen. The incursion into Russia is a step in the wrong direction. Ukrainian Post: "It's tough on Pokrovsky, the Russian army sends a large number of infantries to find a weak spot, and then dozens of assault groups go there. Now the situation needs "surgical" intervention, otherwise we will have big problems." While Ukrainian formations continue to attack in the Kursk region, the operational crisis of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsk direction has been steadily worsening over the past weeks. In a few days, units of the Russian Armed Forces were able to expand the zone of control in the direction of both Novogrodovka and the Karlovskoye Reservoir.

even with these forces assembled for Kursk, the AFU could not staunch the bleeding on the eastern front. The 47th has been tasked with firefighting since Avdiivka fell and they're a shell of their former self. Total loss of combat capability and cohesion. "which is more important" There's no comparison at all. UA has absolutely ZERO ability or chance to hold anything longterm in Kursk. And their losses have been massive. (While Russia is moving towards strategically vital objectives with minimal losses) And as TheDuran boys noted 2 days ago or so, the change in tune from Kiev(like pretending they have something to set up an administration for there) almost certainly means the attacks there have been bounced or destroyed since about 3-4 days ago. And the amount of UA troops getting ambushed or dronestriked in Kursk is just spectacular. Word is that Akhmat, spetznas and GRU forces have already begun clearing operations in at least 3 places. They literally COULD NOT be doing this if UA forces were seriously threatening or moving forward. From what i'm seeing, the only actual UA advance, was the one taking the western side of that river. The others are most likely PR-releases only. . However, the by far most important thing, is the fact that we now have fairly good confirmation that the majority(or large minority) of UA troops are of Polish, French, USA and UK origin. And a chunk of what is not, was CIAs puppet terrorists. NATO has invaded Russia.

Kursk isn't a success - quite the opposite. The Ukrainians pulled troops out of the line to take part in the Kursk offensive. That has resulted in a speedier front line collapse. The main points from the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the Kursk direction: ▫️The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 300 soldiers and 27 armored vehicles, including six tanks during this day; ▫️In the area of the settlement of Bezdrik in the Sumy region, a missile strike destroyed a launcher of the M270 MLRS; ▫️Concentrations of enemy manpower and equipment were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Borki, Fanaseyevka, Cherkasskaya Konopelka, Novoivanovka, Mikhailovka, Snagost and Kurilovka; ▫️The total losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the military operations in the border area of the Kursk region amounted to more than 3,460 soldiers, 50 tanks, and 45 armored personnel carriers. ⠀

So the bigger question here is how is Russia having Success as well? Russia is losing a lot of troops in both regions at a MUCH HIGHER rate compared to Ukraine.

Depends on how much faith one has in either side's casualty claims. Most more or less neutral milbloggers (in the sense they respect each side's reasonably verified accomplishments) don't pay much attention to "official" casualty figures. Of course there's always a chance some particular figures may be correct, but how can we be sure without drone viddies and such?

@@mercifulterros5030 tell me, why would Ukraine commit such numbers of equipment and men while neglecting its own national security? As it is, Russians have taken Nei York, and now part of Petrovsk. On top of that, if you look at the other fronts, Ukraine is still being pushed West by Russian forces. How many times Russian troops have encircled their enemy? The worst part is that with this war of attrition, Ukraine is burning its last remaining reserves for the Kursk offensive. Russian troops are located North of Kiev by the belorusian border waiting on Putin's order for final offensive. Taking Kiev is not in the menu, at last not yet until Ukraine's forces have been totally exhausted. Remember what happened in the summer of 1943 with Hitler's invasion of the Kursk region? Tens of thousands of German troops were decimated by Soviet troops and were pushed back. Today, will be no different other than using high tech drones, electronic warfare, and satellites which Russia has plenty and Ukraine depends on the West for those and the West is getting fed up with the Kiev clown. Invading Kursk does not make any sense, the Ukrainian losses there already exceed 5 thousand and counting, if this continues the Ukrainian army will be formed exclusively of NATO mercenaries because there are not enough Ukrainians to fight on all fronts( They have already lost half a million troops so far in the conflict), however NATO are interested in the Kursk and Russia invassion but they are playing a dangerous game, one wrong step and it will be a nuclear war

This is the real objective. Little brother picks a fight knowing that big brother will bail him out. Ukr wants to get neck deep when Trump takes office (if he survives that long). Then the USA had no option but to escalate. RU is a long way from nuks. RU is heavily dependent on Chyna. Chyna does want the world to end. America loves war. Chyna loves money.

How can you just sit there and say you made a judgement call and ceede grounds to one party of a conflict just like that? Thats very unprofessional. As an analyst ,you may make pamutationa, anologies, and propound hypothesis,but you cant cede and mark anything and claim its a jidgement call as in this case as though the Ukrainians are often used to having their way against the Russians when the come up against them. While infact they soldem do. You should wait for geolocation or not mark the map .

I do that all the time. And I'm almost always correct. I do this professionally. In fact, I suspect I'm one of the most detailed mapper of the beginning of the Kursk Offensive - and most of it is mapped with the same technique/SOP.

Main line of communication between Zaporizhia and Dnipro on the Dnieper and fortified cities of Slaviansk and Kramatorsk in western Donbas will be cut. If either one of the latter is lost it's essentially game over, as HistoryLegends pointed out. West of them there's practically no decent defensible terrain or fortifications.

@josifstaljin41422 ай бұрын
It depends on how much reserves Russia has and where they want to go. If they have enough reserves they can continue south, north and west witch would result in total collapse of Ukrainian defense in Donbas. More likely though they don't have that many and will have to pick one or two directions. If they pick south Ugljedar front collapses for Ukraine. If they pick north they can probably treathen Ukrainian forces south of Bahmut and after they retreat from that salient Russians could approach Slavjansk and Kramatorsk from the south and east. Western direction doesn't make much sense without the other two so it probably won't happen.

The Kursk incursion really reminds me of the 1944 Ardennes Offensive. Pulling elite troops off the front in an attempted breakthrough in order to try to capture an objective critical enough that it forces a negotiated settlement. In this case I think the obvious objective was the Kursk NPP. If they captured it they could pontentially turn Kursk into Pripryat. It's the only thing that makes sense. The Ukrainians can't take another year of the status quo. The front is too big and with a massive artillery and airpower disadvantage, more and more reserves will get chewed up. I think this will sometime next year. Once the Russians get through the long prepared defensive positions in the Donbass the situation will become increasingly untenable, and you'll start seeing big arrow maneuvers from the Russians.

The ukrainians are retreating to fortified positions in an organized retreat. The russians however are scrambling to get defenses up in the city of kursk and they are not having an organized retreat in their territory. Ukraine is not experiencing the same type of resistance in Kursk that the Russians are experiencing in the donbas Oblast. Ukraine is not losing as many soldiers per kilometer as Russia. Ukraine has the initiative that will lead to more gains with fewer loses in exchange.
