The Mansfield University Men's Chorus will be singing this with the Penn State Glee Club at a concert later this October. I'm so looking forward to it!

i sang with these guys once. My high school went to a workshop where we rehearse all day and put on a concert and they are excellent

I agree, and that's been the one consistent problem when we perform this piece. In all honesty it's specifically 2 people from our section. Most of it is do to the passion that the whole group feels when singing this song. The arrangement is a masterpiece, and one very close to our hearts since the CU Glee Club brought it back to the US in 1970. We had the pleasure of performing the Biebl twice at this year's National ACDA Convention.

That was gorgeous. I just sang this during X-mas time what a masterpiece. Beautifully done, nice round tone and dynamics. Bravo!

WOW!! I am so glad I ran across this. Beautiful piece, incredible phrasing, haven't heard it quite that way before, tonality spot on, this is a chillbump rendition.

if you are talking about the Fox show Glee, their perception of a HS Glee Club is what people would actually call an a cappella group. Many major collegiate glee clubs nowadays sing in this setting, possibly with choreography only occasionally.

Simply excellent! Yes, the director does set a fast tempo at the 1st entrance; did no one hear/detect his slowing of the tempo at the 2nd entrance at 1:42 where he also scales back the dynamics in preparation for the ending?

This version isn't bad. The song is designed to have a small choir sing the echo, and this choir didn't have it. They just didn't have a distinct difference between verses in dynamics. If you want to hear a great version, look for UW-Eau Claire's Singing Statesmen's version of this song. It is truly beautiful. You can hear the change in dynamics and tempo changes. In fact, one member used this song as his audition to get into Chanticleer. Yes, he was the high tenor in the trio.

This is a staple piece for my UNI Glee Club :). The timing is meant to be flexible in those sections because it's chant.

Not bad at all....i agree that that Tenor 1's are a little strong...I heard the Rutgers Glee Club do this a IMC 2008..i put this version by Cornell just under that one...that performance at IMC by Rutgers was incredible..the entire audience got up and sang it with them..breathtaking...but this version is still good!

Does anyone else hear a possible intonation problem on the ascending line around 2:25? Otherwise, great sound. I agree with everyone else that the basses could be a little more prominent, the whole piece a bit slower with some more feeling.

you missed out the first bass solo! other than that it's gorgeous, although I think that the last turn on the E by the tenors is a bit too shouty

Not bad...I only wish you guys would have given a few more decibels where it counted...namely the final chord!

I thought the director was moving too fast for this angelic song

Impressive, missing some serious bass though, specially after every solo. Need some ground shaking there. Apart from that, nice version, havent heard that one before.

the tempo is WAY rushed. The guys did a GREAT job .. but the diresctor rushed thru the piece
