I love that you have been through so much of their catalog that you don't question the voice of M. Shadows . Those of us that have listened to pretty much all they have to offer, understand that he chooses to make his voice do things like this on purpose. People saying he is blown out should keep listening

I'm not certain that he can hit his highest notes at this point, but he seemingly has most of his tonal capabilities. He's smart to approach things with caution until he's able to fully figure out how to maintain his vocals.

I believe the video is about someone committing suicide and when he goes up in the sky realizes there is nobody up there (no god) and everything he believed about “heaven” or something is fake. That’s why when he goes there everything seems so beautiful but it’s not real and that’s why all the objects have barcodes.

Returning to his body after exploring Heaven may be as the main perspective in Afterlife is, in which a person doesn't want to stay in Heaven because Heaven is incredibly unflawed. In this case, it may be that a person doesn't want to stay in Heaven because Heaven is artificial.

@@MataramMeuBode, the song definitely is, though its music video can thematically diverge however its creator intends for it to.

I've been excited to discuss this song. All of our Avenged Sevenfold-based interactions have brought us to new material of theirs being released. There are tons of things to express of the song. A7X's new album, Life Is But A Dream, is a concept album about existentialism from conception to death, presumably not just of humans, but of everything in the universe, based on works of Albert Camus, a 20th century French author and philosopher who, seemingly most notably to M. Shadows, had written The Stranger and The Fall. The song seems to be about Camus' concepts that we as individuals are nobody because we are everything, due to the universe being as perceive it from our individual perspectives. It's a hopeful song in that it seems to take human needs to have purpose in the universe and place them into points of us being the universe and our purposes being in ourselves. This music video, to me, shows what a person has inside of them travelling through the universe and witnessing everything to return to the body which serves as their vessel. It makes sense in terms of humans having their souls, their sparks of life, what make us different from others in how we percieve everything. There doesn't seem to be anyone dead in the music video, rather everyone's internal selves exploring the universe as the video's main character does. Lyrically, the song is very powerful. Symbolically, the music video is very powerful. Compositionally and musically, the song is excellent. I don't know that it's a sensible song for A7X to have released as LIBAD's first single, especially considering how Warner Bros. Records want certain commercial results of LIBAD for A7X to fulfill terms of their contracts and be able to move on from WBR. The song must fit brilliantly into LIBAD in context. As a standalone song, the song feels like a listenable philosophical research paper more than it feels like most A7X songs which are eternally iconic. M.'s vocals are excellent, Syn and Zacky's guitar parts are excellent, Johnny's basslines are excellent, Brooks' drumming is excellent, and I love the choral part and symphonic orchestrations of the song, you'd caught French horns, by the way, and I don't particularly love hearing grooves of riffs of the song repetitiously, there could be more clarity in how the song is mixed, and the song isn't much different from songs on The Stage, which feels a slow step forward for A7X given that from the beginning of their discography, each album has highly contrasted the album before and after. Technically and theoretically, the song is experimental, but musically, the song is, as most of A7X's singles are, shaded in aesthetics and sounds which we hear on previous albums, with certain adjustments. I know better than to assume that every song on LIBAD will sound like this, though with it seemingly having significantly more present concepts than The Stage has, it may have musical motifs which draw most songs on it together reprisefully. I'm not certain that I want to hear an atmospheric, soundscape-driven follow-up to The Stage as much as I want to hear an eclectic album with unanticipated influences on it which work with as much consistency as songs on other albums do. I feel that we have a Jack-of-most-trades album to appreciate as we generally do with A7X, though we may not. June 2nd, 2023 will reveal LIBAD's identities as an album. I love and respect the song for what it's meant to be, with reservations. The song is exciting and stimulating. I applaud A7X for not releasing a hooky song with a music video which features them performing the song, as much as I love to see them. There are many promises of LIBAD, creatively, emotionally, intellectually, and musically, for us to experience products of. I'm excited for LIBAD's second single to be released soon. It's awesome to welcome A7X back as if they haven't left. This is an excellent reaction, Randi, and I must comment under it!!! You're doing extraordinarily well!!! Please keep up the outstanding determination!!! 💀🦇💙

I enjoyed reading your comment! Perhaps if this song has similarities to the stage, they released it first to give fans a bit of a home-like feeling, but also to keep the rest of the album a mystery. Maybe it will also generate more discussion of what is to come. Structurally, and maybe conceptually, this song is certainly intriguing and somewhat captivating. 😊 To be honest, the last several albums of BB have disappointed me to some degree, but grown on me with more listens. I had to accept that the band members have grown individually, had other inspirations, and the music would reflect that. I don't know the subtleties of A7X like you do, but I'm hopeful that their new music is as good as previous albums. If all else fails, keep your favorite album on repeat. 😂 I listen to Phobia (BB) regularly, but only listen to the later albums occasionally these days. I'm excited for the upcoming A7X album! I hope that BB has music in the works. It's been like 7 years since they've put out new music (I don't really count Aurora). Anyway.. I certainly hope there's a good bit of A7X-esque grit on this album. 🤘

@@BetterEveryDayKZbin, I love Ember and Aurora as albums which provide everything which certain types of Breaking Benjamin fans love and have wanted for years, though choices of production of them are mostly difficult for me to appreciate. I feel that there could've been more done with having three guitarists, less saturated, less muffled vocal harmonies, and for Aurora, brand new vocal tracks recorded which suit acoustic versions of songs rather than highly compressed and reverbed vocal tracks which had been on old songs as we've known them for so long. Saturate through Dark Before Dawn are really excellent albums which set high bars and continue to gain listens. Naturally, not every album can be those kinds of albums. With Hail to the King, The Stage, and Life Is But A Dream so far, I don't feel disappointments at this point; I'm in different headspaces of what I love about Avenged Sevenfold in this era. There are a few things which I love consistently, and things which have changed drastically. With singles being red herrings as I'd mentioned early in this musical journey and not reflecting diversity of albums, a strength of a song which isn't as catchy as most of A7X's singles is that we can be totally blown away by everything else on the album after having our guards at levels to expect relatively tame and subtly layered songs which are in ballparks of songs on The Stage. Most popular bands wouldn't do what A7X seem to be doing. They seem to be either setting up a Trojan Horse which will hit us hard or Alice in Wonderland circumstances which will pull us into thought-provoking territories which we can't predict. It's why A7X are a very different band from most other bands. LIBAD's tracklist is interesting to me. Easier is similar to the name of a demo from the Avenged Sevenfold album, and Death is Fiction's working title. Both are titles of tracks on LIBAD. I'm certain that those songs will subvert expectations. It's hopeful that none of the songs have long run times. I have huge amounts of respect for LIBAD's release style and presentation being as creative as A7X's music has always been. While I'll mostly listen to the song because I'll want to refresh myself on it or listen to it as a part of LIBAD listens, it captivates me as much as a few of my favorite A7X songs do. It's enigmatic and magnetic. Adding on to what I love about the song, I love the radio microphone filter on M.'s voice on his fast vocal parts of the song like I love it on his fast vocal parts on the Street Spirit (Fade Out) cover. I'm grateful that grunge characteristics have made it into A7X's aesthetics of this era. Experiencing what the band have in store for us in terms of what influences they draw from on LIBAD, I imagine tons of classical and psychedelic rock influences, is likely to be as much fun as experiencing listening to their most odd-sounding songs. We may not love LIBAD as much as we love pre-Hail to the King albums, but we may. As soon as I'll hear anything which is ridiculous or romantic, I'll be all in. Five years of the band's preparations will be worth it.

M. Shadows had a problem with his lymph nodes I believe. I think he had surgery.

It had been a blood blister between his vocal folds, as in 2004. Rather than have surgery for it this time, he'd waited for it to reduce and heal.

Where the heck do we start with this one? WW3? Living in a simulation? Astral projection? A nightmare? Acid trip? The implosion of the west? ????? I sure don't know. But I do know this much, that ever the scenario, it unnerved me. But whatever the theme, it was awesome. All round brilliant writing, brilliant music, top notch video, the production is excellent. I do however have a small gripe, as with soooo many other great pieces of art, it's to short!!! Always the same, just as we get really into it, that things stops.😞😞 Without the failing eyes, I could have written on this with dreams and journeys for quite some time. But that's for better days than this(personally that is). Anyway sweet Randi, that's all from this ole numpty for now. Take care. TTFN.
