There is something that I love so much right now and it is how freakin' proud Matt is about every single thing Brooks does, because he is a perfect fit for their music, like there is no typical sound for Avenged Sevenfold, they just keep evolving and trying new things, come up with the craziest ideas, go three steps ahead of just anything and Brooks is up to all of that. So grateful for these breakdowns because they make me appreciate their music even more; I just fall for them even more each day.

Love how Brooks is so creative on drums. The best guy to replace The Rev IMO
@madsn27246 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to put this, and people are probably gonna be mad at me for saying this BUT, even though Jimmy will never be replaced, his influence will never be forgotten, and his shoes will never be filled, I still think it's lovely to see Brooks as a creator besides being a drummer. The fact that a song can spawn from him jamming a little, reminds me of our all beloved The Rev, and it's wonderful.
@jaytea40436 жыл бұрын
Nah, bro, nobody is gonna be mad at that statement. It was well said. I mean they both are products of the same drumming schools, and while they're almost evenly matched in skill, they're two entirely different drummers. Which if you sit back and think about, that's fucking crazy. Two drummers, like i said on almost the same level skill wise, but bring different styles and sounds. I really would've loved to see them play together, have two separate drum solos.. that would've been something spectacular. They're both drum Gods, in their own rights, and that's so amazing to me. Jimmy sent Brooks, from the heavens, to help Matt, Brian, Zack, and Johnny not only move forward, but to continue their ascension to becoming one of the best bands of all time. Got tons of love for Portnoy and Arin for what they did to help A7X move forward, but damn, i am so happy Brooks is behind the pots and the pans.

"Paradigm" was the first song I heard where Brooks was the star player of Avenged Sevenfold. I knew what he could do in Bad Religion, but this song was a mind blower. "The Stage" was a little more straight forward as far as the drums go, but I still remember when I heard the point where Shadows says "Final paradigm", where Brooks pulls off the double ride so perfectly. That's when I realized Brooks was perfect for Avenged. He's the best drummer for the band after Jimmy passed and I'm sure Jimmy's looking down like "Fuck yeah, great choice, guys!". Not to mention the crazy riffs, Shadows' harmonies, the bass everything about this song is a great second song. "The Stage" was the intro and "Paradigm" was the real introduction to the, dare I say, best metal album in years. It's inspired, it's creative and quite frankly, mind opening. "Exist" is one of the best "final tracks" I've ever heard. 18 minutes and it doesn't even lose my ADHD 10 year old son's interest. That's quite a feat. Brooks could've played for Zappa, Steve Vai DID produced his first released work, so I guess it kinda makes sense. Sorry if I'm rambling, but just THE fact that no other drummer alive could play for Avenged, is something to say.

10:49 Matt says that the part they eliminated was actually better, and Syn agrees, Syn says that back in the day they would have left both or at least chosen the other one. I think this is exactly what made City of Evil so damn good, most of the songs there have 2 or 3 'micro-songs' in them, you can clearly tell that they just had theses riffs written separately and then just mixed them somehow, AND THAT WAS GOOD, because each of these, 'micro-songs' were fucking epic even though at times they didn't make 'sense' with the rest of the song.

Love these breakdowns! I really didn't pick up on how strange some of these parts sounds individually until you singled them out, but together it creates a masterpiece, keep up the great work guys can't wait to see what you have in store on the next album!

The transition mix of the solo with the drums is just beautiful. There is nothing more beautiful than just listening to how all this pulls together. Nothing builds better on how strong rebuilding a sound in a band-based direction vs a fan-based direction, because there is just nothing better to compare it to, other than the thought of, “Wow, we sounded like this, it worked, now let’s build and branch out and see what other direction this may come to the point of and let’s keep it our sound in our band-based direction.” I love this new sound, and am excited to see what you guys do with the next one. 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾

One of my favorite ones so far. Love the depth and you guys going into it and each track to give us more depth to the songs. And giving us a chance to hear stuff we cant hear on just normal headphones.
