This is a perfect gear comparison video. There's no beating around the bush, it's very concise and to-the-point, and I commend you greatly for that. In my personal opinion I'm gonna go with the Invaders on this one. They sound a bit more full and rounded-out where the Synbuckers seemed to lack a bit in the low midrange.

Seems to me like Schecter wants to keep everything in house since they know how to wind their own pickups. Makes sense, but it’s pretty tough to contend with Seymour Duncan quality-wise. That said, I prefer the invaders.

I feel like the invaders vs synbuckers is a lot like EMG 60/81 vs the Hetset EMGs. Both are great, but the signature model is a bit more clean and crisp.

Personally, Invaders are my go-to pickups. Have owned several guitars with them, and ordered a custom pickup from Duncan few years ago (SH-8 / Slug hybrid). It has always been my baseline when figuring out what a new guitar sounds like. But I was positively impressed on the Synbuckers. Nice clarity, and very smooth sounding.

I plan to combine Synyster Gates’ signature bridge pickup with Seymour Duncan’s Sentient neck pickup for my Schecter. This video proves that I should go through with my idea.

I like the added high end of the Syn when it's dirty but to get that with Invaders all you have to do is adjust your EQ/Presence UP just a hair. The Invader has more chunk and growl, and that is what made Syn's sound so great. Look at the EQ curve for the Invader on the Duncan website. See it, remember it when tweaking. It's a low-end heavy tone to begin with, so if you add too much lows on your amp EQ, it'll get muddy/farty. So... Rather not drop the money on the new pickups, and keep your Invaders? Here's how you get used to these Ceramics and how to get that improved tone. Just mark down your amp settings, then experiment by first cutting lows/mids a good bit, then boosting highs a HAIR. Once you get the high end you like? Then tweak the mids up to where they almost sound where you want THEN start adding lows slowly and see what happens. Plus, my trick with Invaders/amp tweaking was before anything, to drop the gain/dist a hair. Get EQ you like at a lower vol, then start going up with the master You'll see you have more searing volume and natural singing sustain. Invaders are awesome, you just have to find the sweet spot for your amp to react nicely. Of course as you go for more volume in live and rehearsal, may need to cut lows a tiny bit, but you know that.

Yes someone knows exactly how to eq. I dont put too much bass in my amp i actually add bass in my effect pedal a bit the eq is : bass not too much but maybe middle to slight below mids i use a little not much trebs i use a bit more just a bit more then bass not too harsh and thats it i dont know why they call this a muddy pick up but its already heavy bass midrange already lol

I can’t really tell in your video but the synyster gates invader is supposed to be trembucker sized not that it’s necessary for poles that big but the tone is more articulate and higher output is able since the windings are longer

Synbuckers are tighter, more refined. Invaders are fuller, more openly harmonic. Both are equally good, just each would be ideal for differing playstyles from one another.

The tones have almost similar tone with the invader seems like a little thicker than synbucker. Also on neck position the tone from invader is really Syn's tone we're all know. But the Synbucker is a great pickup as well. Thanks for the video 😁

To me the seymour duncans still sound crisper on the bridge side...the synbucker wins on the neck pickup though in terms of clarity on clean tone....but you can outshine either with the sustaniac clean tone. That usa pickup is like a diamond..beautiful tone and all the cutting power required.

I think that you probably have the most knowledgeable about the Syn gates series of guitars that I’ve seen, so I have a question. What is the difference between the invaders that came in the 2009 custom model Syn Schecter guitar as compared to the regular ones you can now still purchase? I have invaders in an Ibanez guitar that were knew that I bought like two months ago. As far as I know, the only difference is the color used on the pickups. But that doesn’t make sense because I can tell a difference in tone. I figure you may know, thanks for the help.

Both sound fine. One is just the Seymour duncan brand and one is Schecter brand. I would keep either in the syn signature guitar but wouldn’t use either of them as replacement pickups 🤷‍♂️ I prefer dimarzio. The fishman fluence classics are pretty dope but I’m not a fan of EMG or the Fluence Moderns

Both pickups are great.. The problem is you can easily get used invaders for 120 bucks and the synbuckers are like 300 bucks. :/ Synbuckers coil split is better though but idc

The Synbuckers are definitely a little more clear, but the Invaders have way more oomph. One thing that helps is to run the coils in parallel. Gives a little more high end and clarity.

Nice vid, but unfortunately when gain is talking the differences and characters between pickups using digital solid state units get twisted. I have played some very cheap pickups that sounded just marginally worse than boutique counterparts when put into digital amps.. Problem is when you use a tube head - without useless tons of gain- with enough volume the things change dramatically and the harmonic content is truly revealed. I appreciated the vid tho

Invaders are the notorious ones, completely unmistakable. Synbuckers sounds more like an average humbucker, Invaders have more grit and fuller tone. I’m sure Syn will keep using invaders in the studio.
