The Invaders sound the best to me. The Detonators were very so slightly less thick and present than the Invaders. It’s not much of a difference but it’s there. Every guitar I’ve ever put Invaders in sounded awesome, no matter how cheap and crappy the guitar was. The Invaders made me want to play that guitar.

So they should also work well with a Les Paul
@jeffarab49473 жыл бұрын
They are the best passives just its bass mid heavy so roll back on mids and bass on eq and it will sound much better I use to have my bass blows up but that's where it can get a little muddy and treble a bit up but not too much
@leroyjenkins48113 жыл бұрын
@@jeffarab4947 Invaders respond quite well to EQ and tone shaping at the amp. The tone knob works too but I never used it much.

I have an Invader bridge pickup and looking for a guitar to put it in, Soon I guess I'll get a used Jackson JS32 King V, black paint, poplar body, licensed floyd rose, I'm thinking install the Invader, remove the neck pickup and hide the neck pickup cavity, remove the switch and the tone knob too and fill those holes so only volume knob left and I'll also block the bridge because I don't use the fr and replacing it with a better one cost as much as the guitar, this will be my 3rd guitar for Eb tuning

Yeah I got a guitar I paid £40 for back in the early '90s - a Korean made thing. Came stock with Invaders. Everything else about that guitar is adequate. The Invaders see me play it pretty much daily. Crunchville Arizonoid.

That Invader sounds so nice with the Mark V. So thick and juicy. No wonder why Hetfield used invaders and Mark 2 for Master of puppets. Really nice riffs also!

They stopped selling the Detonator,......probably because they started making less money from Invader sales,......they made a Korean Hot Rail also called a Duncan Scorcher......I threw both in one of my Chinese guitars,......I figure if it's not an American or Japanese guitar it dosn't matter as long as the pickup sound good.
@acutemadness Жыл бұрын
@@chrisdaly7938I kinda remember that it was sold separately but i went to trade pickups that I ended up not wanting installed anymore for free labor and for my local luthier to keep the stock pickups of a guitar I have two of so they’ll each have different sounds he happened to have a detonator neck and invader bridge since I want a cleaner tone without relying on a separate volume knob or rolling it since there’s only one

I recently found a really good deal on detonators, but didn't know what they were. Some quick googling brought me here, and the tones from them in this video absolutely sold me, they sound like the perfect "90s metal/grunge" pickups and i'm absolutely in love with them. Solid video, super informative and an incredibly good demonstration!

I love the dark sound that invaders have not many other passives have this type of sound which makes death metal thrash stuff the best also make sure to have this bad boy lower then usual on the spacing between the strings or else it will be too harsh

I really like the HB108s actually. I have the HB108s in an old Ibanez RG220B, and a JB and Jazz set in my Prestige. As soon as I kick in the TS9 the 108 sounds great through my Rectoverb.. It tightens right up. Sounds nearly as good as the Prestige.

I just got an Jackson ke3 with detonators in them. I find them very hot compared with my Ibanez V7 and Seymour Duncans TB4... I've lowered them to the maximum but they still drive the clean amps of my line6 helix to distort.

First up GREAT video!! I have an Invader in the neck position of a Fender FMT HH Tele I picked up, early one in blue from like '03 with the Fender bridge pickup still in it. The two actually match up well, the invader has become one of my favorite neck pickups in any of my like 37 guitars (not all have neck pickups honestly). I bought it off a guy that used to be in a Nirvana cover band... really cool guitar and that's a great sounding pickup in the neck of mine, the Invader :). You made it sound GREAT in the video by the way, excellent!!!!

Detonators sounded brighter and more in the high end while the Invaders warmer, thicker and more in the mid range. To my ears, Invaders win this, ALL DAY. I might be just a tad biased though since I have a white one on my ESP guitar in the bridge.

I own both. I am going to say The Invader wins the battle only because it is easily available. Detonators are awesome pickups, but hard to find. If you like the Detonators and want them in your guitars, good luck! If you like them buy a Duncan Distortion set and adjust your bass and mids on your amp. You can get close to them that way.
