I think a few things Sonic 3 has up on other franchises is: 1. Merchandise 2. VOD/Streaming contracts 3. It works as a boost for the franchise to keep kids interested in the games, shows, and toys If Sonic 3 even simply just broke even, it is still a worthwhile venture in the long-run. If the movies turn a profit, it's all gravy - they just need to keep those budgets low.

Sonic 4 IS NOT going to be the end. It’s important to remeber that mainly American and maybe Mexico, are the main Sonic demographic, and paramount 100% knows this. I believe they are smart enough to look at the records 3 broke, and it’s critical reception. Sonic 3 was still a huge success, making more then 2 and 1, becoming the best rated video game adaptation, and becoming the 4th highest grossing video game movie. Overall, I’d say that’s enough to make at least 3 more movies, including 4. The franchise is only getting started and needs time to grow.

Sonic 4 is definitely NOT going to be the final film. The director himself has said that they are just getting started and they dont see themselves slowing down anytime soon. Furthermore, Sonic 3 is well on its way to reach 500 million, and Godzilla is a vastly different type of film with a different audience, so i dont see it stealing sonic's audience. Its actually a much better case scenario than the 3rd film had (mufasa, moana 2 AND wicked) all family friendly titles.

S4: Metal Sonic. We already know he's the next villain. Possibly the Chaotix and Cream/Vanilla get introduced. Show about how Sonic has finally set up his group of friends to truly work as a team, which was key to defeating overlord and a certain other Sonic villain, S5: Mephiles/Solaris. They are the only two good things to come out of 06. Which of course means Silver and Blaze get introduced. Sonic starts to grow up and realize his role as the leader of the free world. S6: Infinite. DESPERATELY deserves a rewrite and so do the Phantom Rubies (could be alternative power source to the Super Emeralds of which the SCU's Master Emerald is one). Movie should be about deep personal loss and how both Sonic and Infinite respond to it, given that all of Infinite's friends got killed by Shadow in forces. If they decide to continue even further, they could create their own stories. Sonic has a very large supporting cast, so spin offs and original creations have a lot of potential. Could help a lot to really establish cinematic Sonic as its own entity, and not just a game adaptation. If Paramount really wants to put Disney in its place and slow down the recent rampage of indie shows, they need to keep this series going.

It’s important to remember that box office numbers don’t tell the full story when it comes to how much money a movie franchise can truly make. Even if Mufasa made more than Sonic 3, Sonic 3 still was one of the highest rated movies of 2024, is the highest rated Sonic movie to date, AND has made LOADS of money in other ways through merchandise and contract deals. If paramount were to end the series at 4, it would be incredibly detrimental to everyone involved in these films, especially to paramount who hasn’t had an actual good movie franchise under their belt besides the SpongeBob Movies and Titanic which is just one film. Plus, there’s still so much more they can do with this franchise. Sonic Colors movie anyone? Overall, Sonic 4 cannot be the end of this franchise as it’s too much of a money maker for both Sega and Paramount, and ending it would do nothing but hurt the company if they did.

So I've been thinking about this theory but what if in DoomsDay, Peter is the main character and sees that Dr Doom looks like Tony, that's his internal conflict the whole movie, Doom realizes this and uses it to his advantage, where he tries to convince Peter to join him for some reason (maybe Peter's the MCU anchor being). Peter finally gives in, and Doom awards him with the black symbiote suit. Doom creates BattleWorld, leading to Secret Wars. Then there would be a fight where Tobey and Andrew have to fight Tom, who would be fighting them in the symbiote suit.

This franchise is just getting started with exploring more of the lore/world, the third movie is the highest grossing of trilogy and is the most well-regarded of the three, and while yes, Mufasa made more at the box office, people are talking much more fondly and greatly about Sonic 3, and are spreading a better word of mouth about it than Mufasa. Realistically speaking, they have their audience in both the die-hard fans, but also with families as these have proven to be good family movies. I believe if they just choose better release dates, they can keep going for like 3 more movies, along with aforementioned spinoffs

A mysterious stranger watches a protagonist from a distance threatening to cause harm to the protagonist's loved one(s) if they don't carry out a crime on their behalf leading the protagonist to come up with ways to stall the crime long enough to find a way to save their loved one(s)

You’re absolutely correct about there being studies that prove the general audience likes when trailers spoil the whole movie. I’ll try to remember this to add a source, but I’m an indie filmmaker, this is the type of thing I pay a painful amount of attention to.

People don't like being spoiled. But they like having their curiosity fulfilled because they want to see the movie. Trailers spoil movies because it sells tickets. That's why recent trends have been to seemingly spoil movies by showing a lot of less significant things but making it seem like they showed everything only for it to turn out to mostly be the first 10 minutes and a split second of the end, maybe a few clips of the middle. Plus some edited shots and fake shots. Like Sonic wearing his regular shoes in the fixed Sonic Movie 1 trailer but he doesn't have them in that part of the actual movie. Or Thor having both his eyes in the Infinity War Trailer (I think it was Infinity War), as well as a shot of the Avengers, including Hulk, running towards the screen in the woods of Wakanda but that shot never happens in the movie and Hulk was only present at the beginning of the film. Or No Way Home editing out 2 Spider-men from a shot they were supposed to be in. There's a shot of Super Shadow that was altered to be regular Shadow for the Sonic Movie 3 trailer.

Even with the steep competition, Sonic 3 already made more at the box office in one month than Sonic 2 did in its entire run. And even before Sonic 2 came out, Paramount announced Sonic 3 and the Knuckles spinoff show. Personally I feel Paramount is fully on board with this franchise and are not considering stopping this anytime soon.

The reason why sonic 3 didn’t make as much money as we thought it was and how much it should have made was because Disney pressured cinemas into limiting sonic 3 showings as Mufasa was losing and Disney didn’t like it. That’s a fact, Disney even admitted it.
