I loved the moment when Captain Marvel got to go one on one with Thanos but I thought the all female scene was unnecessary. Yeah, "Girl Power" and all but it just felt trivial. I also didn't mind fat Thor, I loved what Chris did with the character, but the fact that other people were joking about his mental/physical state just didn't work for me.

The movie had so much nuance with all the little details everywhere. Also I loved how they switched it up for thor movies in ragnarok to a more comedic style and everyone was comparing it to guardians and then they end up merging the 2 movie franchises.

Just watched your reviews for IW and this one. Great job. I love these two movies. The Russo brothers demonstrated the right way to end a multi year story arc. Solid storytelling leavened with pin point accurate fan service. So well done that even though you knew, at the end of IW, most of those snapped away must be brought back some how, that didn't lessen the emotional impact. I'm a big boofy Aussie bloke and I almost lost it with Groot's final "I am Groot" and Peter Parker's "Mr Stark. I don't feel so well." Endgame was so expertly crafted, from the kick in the nuts of Hawkeye's family snapping out to the ridiculously trivial but perfect scene of Tony & Nebula drifting in space as Tony says his goodbyes and Nebula, probably for the first time in her life, learns a little of what it means to be a person. Endgame then continues to perfectly balance lighter moments with more emotional ones. I thought PTSD Thor was a brilliant concept and CH portrayed it to a T. I wonder if Thor's arc was deliberately left unfinished. At the end of the movie he still has unresolved issues to attend, possibly (hopefully) in GOTG 3. My most favourite scene in the two movies, which had many great scenes, has to be, hands down, when Cap calls Thor's hammer. Three times the theatre exploded with cheers when that happened. Finally getting "Avengers....Assemble." was pretty awesome too. Trying to do time travel is always messy, what with all that timey-wimey stuff but I thought they handled it well enough so that if you squinted a bit and didn't think about it too much it made enough sense except for one unanswered question. On the rooftop during the battle of New York the Ancient One demonstrates the timeline governed by the infinity stones and what happens if you remove one. BB(TH) promises that they will return the stones to the exact moment they took them, thus leaving the timeline undisturbed. Essentially they will leave the current present, collect the stones at specific points in the past, then return to the current present with the past, including the initial snap unaffected. They then snap, not to erase the first snap but to reverse it's effects as of the current present. So everyone returns, not having aged in the intervening 5 years. Setting aside the issue of what happens to all those who were, for instance, flying when snapped out (do they reappear at the point they snapped out and then proceed to plummet to earth like a blue whale and a pot of geraniums) and those who were killed 5 years ago when the pilot of the plane/driver of the car/bus/train they were in snapped out causing the plane/car/bus/train to crash, etc, once the stones are returned the intervening five years proceed as before. Thanos gathers the stones, does the snap and then, shortly after snaps to destroy the stones. So what happened to the Ancient One's glowing line. Did it stop? Did it fracture? The absence of the stones actually appears to have no effect whatsoever. What's that about? That minor nitpick aside, I love these films. In fact, tomorrow is Sunday. From 10am to 3pm I am running Dungeons and Dragons but I think I now know what I will be doing tomorrow afternoon and evening. Thanks for your videos. Catching up on your back catalogue has helped me stay sane during the Apocalypse. Stay safe. Stay well. (Sorry for the long exposition. I get excited talking/writing about the MCU and these 2 in particular.)

*Spoilers* I know you touched on Tony, but I loved the part where Tony asked Strange about his 14 million visions to 1 win, and Strange replied with "If I told you, it wont happen". I feel like that was important not just for changing what would happen, but the "how". We've seen Tony be his narcissistic self, and we've obviously had a glimpse of a different Tony given the nature of IW and other films. But seeing what kind of life he has in front of him now with a kid and everything, you just know what he did at the end, might not have been made at all. Or at the very least, would have happened with a lot of hesitation. I too, am going to see it again. But I don't think I've ever come out of a film recently, that's left me *that* emotionally drained. Edit: I just wanted to see Goose.

I was disappointed with Captain Marvel's lack of screentime, they gave her so much hype at the end of Infinity War and her movie, and she has about 15 minutes of screentime On the other hand, Captain America lifting Thor's hammer was badass, I'm interested in seeing if they'll incorporate Thor in Guardians 3
@AmandaTheJedi
@AmandaTheJedi 5 жыл бұрын
I just think they should have left her out. If they had given her more screen time it would have cheapened the characters that have been along for the whole ride, but at the time of filming, the solo movie hadn't been done so there wasn't as much of a personality for her established, I think it was just hard to try and weave her in and it might have done better to tie her in somewhere else and I think they will! Hemsworth was originally out then was so happy with how Ragnarok turned out that he decided he'd be open to continuing the role so I like him as a guardian rather than trying to run his own movie

Also, I get that a lot of people like Thanos as a villain, but I really can't stand villains like him who are delusional enough to think that massacres on that level are good. In that scene before the time jump, when he said "you should be thanking me", I really wanted to choke him. You can call him a genius for the way he manipulated his way to the stones, but his reasoning and his motives make him look like such an idiot.

I enjoyed Nebula is Endgame more than the other movies she was in. I felt hulk was the biggest disappointment, I wanted to see him get really pissed when he saw Thanos and give him a fight to remember. Additionally Thor felt weak. In Infinity War Thanos got hit once with Stormbreaker and he fell to his knees and in this he seems far more competent in combat without any infinity stones. I would say Captain America peaked in this movie so all things considered it's probably my favorite.

Here's the thing, I'm not normally a hater (I loved Rise of Skywalker, 2016 Ghostbusters, and WW84 for instance). That said, I went into this with such high hopes, only for it to sadly become one of the very few films that I have nothing but hatred for, since it not only did something I hate in fiction (normalizing an apocalypse and its aftermath), but it effectively ruined most of the franchise for me with how it went out of its way to screw over characters I actually liked with either shitty shock deaths or crippling trauma and depression. I especially took it hard because I was not originally into the MCU, but I ended up being peer-pressured into giving it a chance, only for it to break me with it going "oh, you wanted a clear-cut happy ending? You're an idiot because that's cliched!", and me being harassed by fanboys for not liking it.

@@AmandaTheJedi Also, I don't think Captain Marvel finding Tony is all that strange. Obviously Rocket would have some way to know exactly where the ship is. None of the Avengers, including Pepper, looked all that surprised to see Carol bringing back the ship either. It seems the whole rescue was planned from the start.

@@majorevangelism One theory I saw, which makes sense, is the mid credits scene in Cpt Marvel where she arrives to ask where Fury is happened (just wasn't reshown in Endgame). The recordings that Stark was making to his damaged helmet in the beginning *were* received by Pepper, who notified the Avengers of them, allowing Cpt Marvel to know where to find the drifting ship and return it to Earth

I thought the movie was amazing with 2 caveats. Thor was disrespected and Hulk was not Hulk, he never got his rematch.

As much as I did enjoy the film I did have some issues. They make a huge point that you need one vial of Pym particles and one Stark Time GPS per person to do a time jump. Evil Nebula gets both from Good Nebula and shows them to Thanos. She uses them to go to the future with the rest of the Avengers. Then she manages to get Thanos, his ship and his entire army there as well, despite them not having more particles, suits or time gps. If all it took to get people from the past was someone operating the machine in the future, the whole "we don't have enough Pym particles" deal was bunk. - Hulk argues that they can just go back in time again and return the stones, fixing those timelines - but, according to the rules, you can't change the past. Every time you go back, you're creating another timeline. So sure, he can go back and create a third timeline where the stones are returned, but it wouldn't fix the second timeline created by removing them. - In the same vein, when Steve goes back in the end to return the stones, he's going to another timeline. If he never jumps back, the original Falcon would never see him again. He could wait and appear to the Falcon in this new timeline, but those last scenes are clearly meant to be happening in the "main reality". And if he did jump back as an old man, he should have appeared in the time machine, exactly when Falcon thought he would, not in that bench or somewhere else. The machine presumably anchors him in that timeline (otherwise, what's the point of it?). Bonus nitpick: The Ancient One says removing a stone (don't remember if specifically the time stone or any of them) from a reality messes with the time flow and causes bad shit to happen. How come Thanos destroying them all doesn't fuck everything up, then?

Most of the criticisms here are about things being rushed or not being given enough time - _it’s three hours!_ If you want more time, you’re asking for a TV show, not a film. I also cannot relate to the idea that Infinity War is a cleaner film. Endgame is only a sequel to the previous Avengers film with some MCU fan service sprinkled throughout. Infinity War however is _a mess_ of half-sequels to like 5 different franchises, and crucially non-functional as a sequel to Age of Ultron. Endgame at least has a clear cut *assemble* -the-team-for-the-heist structure. Also, you criticised my favourite character arc in the whole movie namely that of Nebula’s, and beautifully performed by the consistently underrated Karen Gillan. Good job. 👍🏽

I wanted him to struggle, but they could have had it that they navigated the ship towards earth but didn't necessarily have enough air to make it back and just took a shot so you can still get him in this emaciated form and feel the struggle.

@@AmandaTheJedi Stark mentioned they were thousands of light years from Earth. Even if the ship was moving billions of miles an hour, it still would take decades to get there.

IMHO I think they needed a 'cosmic' capable character to intervene or Nebula/Stark would've been toast. And since the snap, the only ones still around are pretty much Capt Marvel. Overall I think her screen time was okay.

My theory on Captain Marvel rescuing Tony was correct. My other theories that they would use the shrinking machine as a concept to make a time machine I guessed right. I also was correct about Tony in the end. I was spot on most of the time. I made my own spoilers lol 😭

@surfitlive how was thor supposed to save Tony? Heimdall was already killed so there was no way Thor could locate him. It was shown as far back as Age of Ultron that Heimdall was going to die. Heimdall was the only one that had the eyes to look throughout the 9 realms for Tony. Thor has never been to planet Titan so he would have had no idea where to go even with his axe. So you tell me how Thor was even supposed to find him. It's ridiculous to think he was supposed to save him. Seriously think before you speak

I might be a minority on that opinion, but I found the ending of Infinity War TERRIBLE! There was no aftermath. The movie just ended right when Thanos committed his massacre. It was basically the movie screaming "F___ YOU, EVIL WINS!". It's like ending the 6th Harry Potter film right when Snape kills Dumbledore, or ending the 2nd Star Wars movie right after Vader is revealed to Han and Leia. The movie itself was great, but to me the ending ruined it. That cliffhanger was very poorly handled.
