It's been nearly 12 hours after I left the theatre and I'm still shook in the best possible way, literally have not stopped thinking about this movie!

Dan's thoughts usually align with mine, but in this case I wasn't quite as blown away as he and Roth were. It's a very good movie and a fitting capstone to the first 11 years of the MCU. I loved so much about it - the inevitable (as opposed to predictable) way certain things played out, but also the many surprising ways expectations were subverted. The emotional and psychological weight of the first act of the movie, and the cinematic equivalent of a series of George Perez double-page spreads in the third. The balance between the epic and the personal. Chris Hemsworth's six pack. There were a few issues though that kept me from being unreservedly enthusiastic. One was Return of the King syndrome: granted, while you can validly argue that as the finale of a 22-installment long epic Endgame justifies the many strings it ties into bows, it arguably spent too much time wrapping matters up if you judge it as a standalone movie, or even as part 2 of 2 (as opposed to part 22 of 22). Another issue was that many characters were given short shrift. Again, this is defensible. It was clearly a choice to focus Endgame on certain characters more so than others and it would have been impossible to give everyone their due. But the imbalance was more noticeable in Endgame than in Infinity War. A third issue was that a couple of pivotal moments were over-egged a little for my tastes. I think Infinity War is possibly the best superhero movie made so far. (I love Logan just a tad more, but arguably Logan isn't really a superhero movie, but rather a western with four colour trappings. Infinity War is an unabashed comic book movie. Interestingly, Endgame taps into some of the same techniques as Logan, like depending on an audience's long-standing relationship with the characters to evoke emotional resonance.) Endgame didn't hit me with quite the same force as Infinity War. In some ways Infinity War is like Kill Bill Volume 1: an adrenaline-fuelled rush that expertly juggles different tones, and keeps on topping itself in terms of plot to build to a tremendous cliff hanger. Endgame is like Kill Bill Volume 2: slower paced, more intimate, more nuanced in tone, and built on a different structural frame. I like and admire Kill Bill Volume 2 and Endgame a lot, but didn't come out awed and excited like I did with Volume 1 and Infinity War. Of course, this is all based on a single viewing. I may change my mind based on rewatching it.

Like, as a kid, drawing my own made up covers of Iron Man comics... seeing Iron Man 1 with my first girlfriend in theatres... to THIS?!? Roger Kincaid, I think they’d be a boom in demand for psychological services for a looong time. I will be almost 38 weeks into my pregnancy when I see this Saturday. So....should I expect to ugly cry with loud racking sobs or will it be more like gentle tears? I'm trying to plan ahead. UK subscriber here & I watched it at a packed out midnight screening last night. Still in awe of what I just witnessed, I can't put into words what this movie did to me - I felt so 'full' by the end of it; it paid off stories/character arcs I didn't even know I wanted or needed but after the fact moved me deeply. It truly was the best possible way they could've ended it in 14 million 6 hundred and 5. Completely agree with your review and there are soo many things I want to talk about but won't because I managed to avoid any spoilers and want that same feeling for everyone else. Seeing how most critics agree that the first 2 hours are a bit slow and the last hours super insane holy shit wtf awesome with a lot going on at the same time, how does that affect rewatchability for you guys? I don't know. You need to watch entire movie to it make sense. But now after I saw it, I would definitely be grateful for DVD to do some pauses, rewinds and skipping. But it's not a movie's fault, every movie has "setup" parts to understand it and "cool" parts which you've actually came for. I skip many scenes in Infinity War... But just because I know them and wanna see the cool ones - New York battle, Titan battle etc. Endgame is definitely rewatchable movie, but yes, as with any other movie, you will want to skip some parts after you saw it and know it.

"Whatever it takes." 😊 I am READY for the deep dive! EVERYTHING Roth is saying about "Iron Man" is true. No one knew who Iron Man was and RDJ was NOT in a good place. The MCU didn't have to do well and it SOARED!!!!! "Endgame" is a global event! Driving to the movie felt like driving to a concert. Sitting in traffic, you know everyone around you is headed to the theater to see "Endgame." You know your neighbor is driving to the theater with their own opinions and favorite characters to see this movie. You know everyone in the world is invested in this. Maybe Marvel is the one thing that can unite the world? Something I felt is this movie, yes it plays its part in the larger story, but like every Marvel movie has its own story and message. You might not need to see everything leading up to it, but you get so much more if you do. I truly feel like these 48 hours of movies are akin to a TV show. We saw a TV show play out on this scale and SUCCEED WILDLY(!!!!!). SO MUCH had to have gone right for them to keep going (we've seen "franchises" fail). Now, I get it. Nothing has ever and probably will never be done on this scale again. They give you everything you want... in a way that surprises. Dan cried 😵😵😵😵😵 I was OPENLY CRYING!!! (After, the guy next to me asked if I'm alright.) I cried at least 4x! Dan, you get into this business because you love it. You're making me love this movie more than I did.

This movie is a miracle. It should not have worked. Russo Bros really pulled off the impossible. Infinity War/End Game will forever be the gold standard that all fandom finales will be judged.

I just got back from seeing the film and I absolutely loved it. And I'm not ashamed to say that I also cried at several points in the movie. I loved the film, and everything you said about it is on point. I do have a couple of really minor criticisms (but because of the difficulty of what was achieved, I can't really lay blame for). But overall, it was an incredible film.

So agree with Dan and Roth. Opening night, magical experience. We had multiple aplauses, so many laughs, total silences. I though that the MCU had given us something I never though would exist in the cinema, this movie takes all of that, and pushes it to the limit.

thank you so much for this review. i saw it tuesday night, we went to a marathon (infinity war at 9am and endgame started at midnight - it was released the 24th i my country) and i just had no words. none. all i could feel was that it was right, perfect and an incredible feeling of thanks and love for robert downey, chris evans, the russos, kevin feige and their whole team. and this review really took the words i didn't have out of my mouth. you described exactly what i feel, and just the way you phrased certain things (that and the movie in the back of my mind) gave me goosebumps and made me almost start to cry. its just a perfect end. im so happy and grateful to have been a part of this journey, and thank you both for the review
