I shopped around and found the Aventon Level 2 to be the most well-reviewed by consumers and reviewers. And thankfully, it runs on the torque system which I love because it gives you a regular bicycle riding feel. All that Alastair says is what I've experienced and have found to be true. This is my 2nd ebike and while I really liked my previous ebike, the Aventon is definitely a step up. The bike feels substantial, in control and everything is "elegant" so I understand Alastair's use of that word. The only thing, and it's a relatively small thing, is the battery is located under the bar and for me, a woman, it is a rather heavy thing to grab onto because of it's location. I will get used to it in time. Loving this bicycle.

Love mine but at 800 miles. Take it off asphalt and it does the job. However... E25 and E26 overheat error occurs occassionally. Also, the step throigh is more a stumble through. The drop battery is a milld pain to remove.

Im kind of amazed at how nimble it is off road. It feels like a tank, but if I stand up in the saddle I can climb some crazy stuff with a rolling start.

I think it has to be this bike right now - it just does everything really well and the build quality is excellent. Having said that the Sinch is a whole lot of fun for different reasons.

@@trailandkale Im looking to commute 18 milea to work and back on pavement and gravel roads im looking at the level, aventure, and xp 3.0 long range. Still on the fence not sure which way to go too many options. I do think however if im commuting and the bike breaks down it would be much better to have a folding bike so I can simply call an uber and be at work or back home in no time. Otherwise Im stranded miles from home or work with no other choice but to push it.

Would this still be a good option for variable terrain? Not talking crazy mountain biking but taking it off paved roads if need be and not having to worry about the wheels losing traction and falling. I like the aventure but im looking at others that are lighter mostly for my girlfriend since shes much smaller
@trailandkale
@trailandkale Ай бұрын
Yeah the aventure is certainly a heavier bike. This one does really well on light trails, gravel, that sort of stuff but like you said, it’s definitely not intended to be used as a mountain bike.

How does it compare to the Aventure that I have. I like the extra tail lights but don't like having no bar on it. There would be no way to clamp it to a bike carrier on the car.

Hey, there’s also a non step-through version of the level 2. This bike is less bulky than the Aventure and has a smoother ride on road surfaces. The Aventure is for sure better for off road situations though.

questions - how easy it is change a flat tyre rear wheel especially on side of road ? also can rear brake lights be switched off or not as they use precious battery ? is there brake regen ? any warranty issues - returns bike failures stats on throttle override especially affecting torque sensors meaning throttle stops working, or always engages etc etc ?

check with local bike shops. if you have local seller, they can answer both the questions you ask as well as ones you didnt even think of. i went to a local seller today (nov 6, 2023) and he said he repairs the bikes he sells as wells as offers a 2 year warranty, assembles the bikes he sales, throws in a free phone holder mount, also replaces the batteries should anything occur within that 2 year warranty window. he has shop in 2 cities, so he gave me his cell phone. your results might vary, so ask a local dealer. i used to want the wired freedom but they lack any repair shops for service, so Wired would only ship the parts and I would have to do repairs myself. also their batteries are like $700 or 800. Aventon is more like $500. which is more affordable if i wanted to just have a spare battery for a quick switch out. thing is, i would want to swap tires at that point cuz of LONG off road journeys😅 like a fat tire. but thats a whole nother topic lol. (since id need to have a motorized rear tire and wire all that stuff up.) ugh. i had a nice LOOONG chat with my local dealer.

Well recently purchased the same Level.2 seen above and ended up getting a rear flat at the 53rd mile 🙄, thankfully made it home before fully deflated. There is a video by Bumstead's Bicycles & takes you through how to change a rear flat on this bike (& was my guide - wasn't particularly hard, took about 45 minutes but wasn't in a hurry). For a front tire change there is video for that on the Aventon KZbin web page. Note I'm new to a bike with disc brakes. Problem lining up washers (with a partial raised lip to fit a specific way) without flipping the bike over a pain. A problem with bikes with disc brakes (as I've learned..) is if you turn the bike possibility of introducing air into the brake lines (more an issue with older bikes & I flipped briefly with no issue afterward). Honestly difficulty changing tire ultimately comes down to weather (most importantly - wouldn't want to be stuck on trail in winter, when a tire would be a lot harder to get off in the extreme cold. Also what tools you'd use (CO2 vs. pump, & replacing the tube or patching - which I'd never bother with on the trail). Bike does come with a wrench & Allen keys in a Swiss Army knife thingy but I've added stuff in my travel kit to make the job quicker. Lights can be switched on & off (I use Aventon app. on my phone). Bike does not have regen. but few E-bikes do these days. Honestly never use the throttle (except by accident..). Torque sensor has levels 0 - 5 and is an 8 speed (gear) bike. Level O is no assist (all you..). Switch to level 1 and difference is rather profound. For trail riding even with rather significant hills I can stay in level 1 or 0 on the downhill parts and can project a legit 60+ mile range. When I ride to work I'm usually going level 5 😁 & range almost halved. One thing I am going to have to investigate is warranty items & plans. One thing Aventon has going for them is over 1,000 different dealers in the US. Worth noting this is a rebranded Chinese bike, curious how it will fare down the road 🤔.

Not sure if you've made your purchase yet Raemus but to clarify on the Level.2 Step-Thru there are two sizes. The S/M which is sized from someone 4' 11" to 5' 7" and the M/L sized for someone 5' 7" to 6' 1". I've recently got M/L (ridden less than 100 miles, but love it..) and about your height (I'm 5' 9" + 1/2 ). Just going by the factory specs., for your wife to ride the same bike you'd really have to get the smaller model of this bike and you being 5' 10" image you'd be jammed up a bit on that (even on the M/L I have the seat about level with the handle bars, quite a bit higher than seen in this demo.). Being almost a foot taller than your wife might be a tall order 😏 to find a bike that fits you both (finding a seat extension a possibility for this bike?? Might be an answer if you & wife really like the bike). Best wishes regardless though!

@@NesconProductions Hey! I ended up buying the regular version (not step-through) and I think I bought the large size but funnily enough, my wife is able to ride it! She has starting trouble but as the bike gets moving, she feels fine on it. It's not ideal but if she can ride it at her height, I'm sure others can make it work as well. I love my bike. Since I've got it, I've done 993 miles on it! (I was hoping to hit a 1000 before the winter set in but I think I should stop now cos the salt on the paths is not good for the bike)

What would be the lifespan of an e-bike like this?
@trailandkale
@trailandkale Жыл бұрын
I guess that would depend on how much it’s used, and how well it’s maintained over time. The build quality of Aventon bikes is very good and they tend to be durable in my experience.

the raw bike part seems to last as long as a regular bike. the electronic components... hmm thats a toughie. i guess like 2-3 years for the battery but I will say, that aventon uses the SAME battery across models and yearly updates, so if your battery wears out just do a warranty claim or buy a new one. disclaimer: i dont own an ebike, yet so im just a 2 week of youtube vids and websites of research. basically a social media nerd. lol but try do a google search for ebike shops and talk to a local sellman. they can give actual in depth experience. in my experience of owning traditional bikes. KEEP IT OUT THE RAIN. air up the tires each month. if you dont have a garage then get a rain cover and oil the gears, i guess to combat the humidity (i live in Louisiana so it can wreek havoc) again, i can only speak of the traditional bike aspect of it. ironcially I bought 5 bikes 😅. 3 for the kids, one for my mom, one for myself. but i wanna sight see further off the beaten path so i want an ebike. (its lighter than an ATV afterall)
