Avenue of the Giants, in Northern California, is one of the most beautiful drives in the whole state. This 31 mile road has massive amount of beautiful spots ranging from the drive itself to the groves that can be found on it. While this is by no means a complete guide to the area, Amie and I spent the better part of the day exploring the Avenue of the Giants to encourage others to get up and see this amazing spot.

Great video! We camped in Myers Flats in 2019 and driving/hiking along the Ave was a dream of mine for many decades, from when we lived in FL. Oh, to wake up in the early misty morning with the aroma of Redwoods in air, amazing! I've found a shaving soap that has a very similar scent and when I open the tub and take a bit whiff, it snaps me back to a Redwood grove. I hope to take our grandkids to the area. We're from the North GA mtns, so it's a haul to get them there, but one day..... (Got a bit long winded. Also, visiting inspired me to join Save the Redwoods League, along with Save the Georgia Hemlocks and participate in treatment projects.)

I used to love going there. At the Tall Tree Grove there used to be a log bridge over the creek to the Flatiron tree which was standing when I last visited. I am a Life member of Save the Redwoods League, so I visited the Founders Grove often. I also saw the Dyerville Giant standing and fallen. It is an awesome and magical area.

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤙🏾👌🏽👌🏽🤘🏾. Late 80s early 90s true trucks through there hauling Lumber. Southern California. I lived in Mendocino County.🤙🏾🙋🏽‍♂️😊😎🌲🦌 . The flood was in 1964 28 days straight of rain. I live in Sonoma County then along the river. Which became a lake. Russian River. Westside Road. Right next door to a famous actor.👍🏽

I camp in Redcrest (near Founders Grove) every summer; my friends and I drive various parts of the Avenue, which used to be Highway 101. At the far north before you have to take the new 101 there is an old bridge. You have to stop, park, and walk a slight distance (literally on the old road) you will come to the bridge that used to cross the river and eventually reconnect to another old portion of Highway 101. The little restaurant in Redcrest has amazing blackberry cobbler!

Great tour. I have been 10 times or more. Love redwoods so much I moved closer to them. First grove I ever visited Muir Woods north of San Francisco. A tree fell while I was there. Sounded like a herd of elephants charging thru the forest. Ended with a loud thump, then silence. Starteled everyone, followed by silence....then cheers.

Being born and raised in Eureka and having redwoods literally in my backyard, I've become unappreciative of these trees, I remember driving through here and thinking “they're just trees.” I'm trying to appreciate them more and nature in general more. I’ve stopped listening to music on walks and just listening to each creak and chirp, and giving them a source in my imagination, thinking of the story of how that chirp came to be. IMO it's WAY better and has me much more interested in nature as a whole.

Excellent video. This is one of the best videos I have seen about this beautiful, historical redwood trees area. The only thing left out is the smell of the trees when you go there. I camped in this area during World War II and it's just as beautiful now, as it was then.

I had a great experience there on a motorcycle trip. We came around a corner and the deep forest was lit up like the desert. They were filming a car commercial and had great big white balloons floating in the trees and diffusers everywhere. I recommend the road out to Petrolia and on to the coast. Cows on the beach! And the westernmost point in the lower forty eight!

Usually, Giant Sequoias are known to be grown upto 300 feet and about 35 feet in diameter. This particular one is over 360 feet tall and over 50 feet wide - that is exceeding the normal growth boundaries !!! Perhaps in recent history no one seems to be taller and bigger than this - Thus recognized as National Champion !! Hope that tree lives on 1000 years !!!
