Random? The final boss speaks both Japanese and English in the jap dub. It's obviously the jap VA speaking English because when he speaks Japanese he's menacing and deep but he's struggling with every English word. But I can commend the effort to really show off the nature of hawaiins who know more languages because of mixed population and tourism

In substories they can communicate with anyone, but in the canon main storyline they can only speak Japanese and don’t understand what’s happening when English is being spoken. I think Kiryu understands a little better than Ichi though.

@@baleil_The thing with substories in 8 is that everyone we meet seems to speak Japanese, but not everyone we speak to logically would. That means either everyone we meet either has Japanese heritage or learned the language (which is possible albeit unlikely) or everyone got made Japanese for simplicity’s sake to remove the need to explain every substory not having a translator present. Some of them make sense since the people we speak to have a good chance of knowing Japanese, but when the times come that we speak to white tourists, there’s clearly something funky.

The worst part about infinite wealth is how predictable it is, I figured out eiji was the vtuber before I even played it and figured out the plot the second Bryce appeared. These games fall without any action based combat because that’s what got people into it, if sega genuinely couldn’t come up with an idea how to incorporate a party into action based combat, and repeats side quests every game (there’s like 8 actual unique side quests the rest of them are copies), can’t create a story without it being predictable. Then they need to give it up, when Kiryu dies I’m done with yakuza games unless they’re action based
