Channel Update (September 2024) & Oktoberfest Beers | Vlog | #70

In today's vlog, I talk about how the channel has done over the past year, what to expect from the channel moving forward, and a few other tidbits. I also show everyone the Oktoberfest beers that I'll be reviewing during the official Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany. It's a long one, so I apologize, but I talk about a lot of different things, so strap in!

Very exciting news about the channel! Entering the greatest time of the year for beer. I have had many SN Oktoberfests ( thank you 24 pack at Sam’s Club) I think it’s solid and look forward to your thoughts. As for the SN Oktoberfest, the review comes out tomorrow, and let's just say we're on the same page. That Ommegang beer ... the review goes up Thursday and it's a very weird beer. Fun to try, though. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Fall beers rolling into winter warmers and robust stouts. Well, every season is stout season but they do hit extra nice in the late fall. Gonna try my very best to not gain any weight. Extra calories are a bish when fall rolls around

No doubt, Oliver! I love the Fall and Winter for a myriad of reasons, but it's definitely hard to not pack on the pounds with all the delicious food and drink out there. I'm going to try not only to not gain weight, but lose some. We'll see how it goes, haha! Cheers, man!

That’s a lot of updates and I’m looked forward to them! The on site will be cool I think. It’ll be fun seeing Joe out in the wild. Haha. The blind tasting I’m looking forward too as well. I think a bracket style competition of anything is always a good time. The viewer’s choice will be awesome too. I know you’ve got a lot of goodies in that dungeon. 😁 Oh and I grabbed a sixer of the Sierra Nevada and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Cheers!

Some would say ... maybe too many updates, haha! I'm looking forward to the on-site reviews. Been talking about it for a few years now and I hope to make it more of a reality soon. I'm super pumped about the blind taste tests, and I'm even more excited about involving everyone in terms of some of the beers that are added to each tournament, not too mention the seedings. Always love interactive stuff like that. I just hope it works out well. The Viewer's Choice Cellar Sunday should be fun. I'm curious as to how many of the beers held up. Guess we'll find out! I really enjoyed the SN, too. Such a tasty beer. Review goes up Saturday, but I was impressed. Cheers, Curtis!

@@averagejoe716The seeding will be fun. I’ll definitely be participating in that! In terms of the on-site reviews will be fun. You MIGHT be able to get some interviews with a couple of brewers as well if you call ahead but who knows. It’ll be cool either way getting to try super fresh stuff on tap. You and the FLX boys at Other Half FLX would be a fun one just comparing samples and what not. Glad you liked the SN Oktoberfest. I may crack one open tonight. I got that Hoof Hearted beer we were discussing on IG that I plan on cracking open for sure. I’ll hit you up over there and let you know how that is.

Yeah, I cannot wait for those blind taste tests. I feel like there's going to be some upsets. When you review almost anything blind, it's so hard to figure everything out. I do think some good Other Half Buffalo/FLX footage with the boys would be gun, for sure.

Crazy how time flies, remember celebrating the return with a TIPA from Polly's, may have to do that again for the 1 year date. I've gone with some Schlenkerla for Oktoberfest as well as a Verdant festbier. Going to try and do some pumpkin beers this year thanks to Brew Export UK. Not sure how you improve on perfection but I'm sure a new camera will be good fun, same with doing stuff on site.

Right? Time flies when you're having fun! Schlenkerla for Oktoberfest makes sense. Verdant brews a Festbier? Noice! Cool to hear you guys will be able to get some pumpkin beer over there this year. Always wondered what other countries outside of US/Canada actually brew pumpkin beer. Appreciate the support over the years, buddy! Cheers!

I've never had any of these beers but I've got a 12 pack of the Sierra Nevada. I've always wanted to try the Shiner one.

Its so weird. Shiner Octoberfest was the first Octoberfest that showed up in my area and that I had in 2023 and this year it hasnt shown up in my area at those same stores that had it last year. The distribution of beer is so inconsistent. There's other Octoberfests even that I had last year that I cant find anywhere locally this year.

Ah, yes ... the trials and tribulations of beer distribution. It's comical how much volatility there is within the beer industry nowadays when it comes to distribution. I think a lot of distributors just get beer and it's up to the stores to actually place orders. I know in my area of two stores that get a list of beer and decide what and how much of something to order. Maybe some of them aren't selling well and stores in your area just pass on 'em. Definitely happens here. I love talking distro with you because it's always fun seeing how distribution from one brewery differs from one state to the next, but it's totally frustrating, without question. Wish there was a better solution. Cheers, Chaz!

@@averagejoe716 Actually nm. I found the Shiner Octoberfest. It was buried on the bottom shelf of the Octoberfest section so thats probably why I didnt see it although I swear it wasnt there last week. $9.99 too so good deal even if its not one the best Octoberfests out there.
