Now that you have found Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust you'll have to react to Peter Hollens channel, with Avi doing Black is the Color of My True Loves Hair and with Tim Foust doing Misty Mountains. Peter Hollens does a cappella also and has done several things with Home Free. Avi has his own EP call Avriel & The Sequoia's you'll find on his channel. Hey Ya and Fields & Pier are my favorites.

Poor guy. You are going to be very busy. You peeked into Pandoras box with Home Free, but now you have thrown off the lid. We Home Fries and Pentaholics love our favorites. And we love the multitudes of other musicians who cross over or preform with these groups. If you work 24/7 watching videos, you will still NEVER get to ALL our requests. Some reactors have a system where the most liked gets done, or a lottery system. Just a suggestion. But don't worry, most of us are just really pasionate and excited by new, good, reactors.

Absolutely loved your reaction Thank You for doing this...its amazing..all the vocals in song is Avi..his music always speaks to you. He puts so much emotion into his music you feel it too. We all have been waiting for a year since His last EP ..so worth the wait.. His voice seems to change with what emotion he singing about, but always so smooth, rich and powerful no matter the octave even super low. Since you like Home Free as well they did Ring of Fire featuring Avi...two amazing Basses in one song!! Also PTX won the Sing off the season before Home Free. They met in person one day before the audition you can watch them come into their sound on the show.. You get to see them become a family.(Kevin and him were roommates for years and Kevin plays cello on his first EP)...which they still are just added Matt

Avi left PTX because the touring kept him away from his family too much. It was sad, but understandable and without ill feelings. Avi is great in his own right. Kevin the beatboxer also has some amazing solo work. Try KOver Sign of the Times.

Waking up to all these reactions have made my Monday morning. This has been on repeat all weekend for me. His aesthetic is more folk. He has an EP from 2017 & a great folk cover of OutKast “Hey Ya”. I recommend “Quarter Past Four” from his EP (but they are all good). No bad blood w/ PTX. Not a reaction request (but won’t be mad if you do😊) there is a video called “Message from Avi” where he announced why he was leaving. It was heartbreaking but if you watch it, you’ll understand why & respect the decision. They support each other and while not the same, PTX with Matt Salle as the Bass is GREAT as well! I suggest your first reaction to PTX with Matt be “Sound of Silence”. It came out just last month.

One thing that wad not widely known was that his mother was going through her second bout of cancer. The first was when he was a child and Avi cared for her. He was nominated for an award and won. His mom said he and his sister, tour manager, would fly in just to see her for a few hours. One of the trips was from their Japan tour. It hit him hard.

The great thing about Avi and PTX and Home Free is they are such amazing musicians they can do all sorts of types of music which is part of their universal appeal. Avis bass singing is amazing, but I especially love any PTX song that features Avi singing the lead. A couple of good ones are The First Noel and their live concert original Light in the Hallway Nagoya. We love and support Avi, His is a one of a kind voice for the ages.

Speaking of side projects also check out Superfruit which is Mitch and Scott singing together and Scott has also sung with a couple of other artists. Kevin also has videos out as does Kirstie. She actually has an album out. Their fans - Pentaholics- are an eager bunch and love to see people having their first Pentatonix experiences. oh, I'd recommend Radioactive -a project they did with Lindsay Stirling and Daft Punk Medley that won them their first grammy. Enjoy the music!

Yep. Mind mindbogglingly good Avi. We Pentaholics were devastated when he left but this is making up for it. Actually you did hear him sing before but you probably didn't realize it. It was "Hallelujah" and he was the guy in the stocking cap who sang in a higher register, not bass and you didn't pick up on it because Scott, the blond guy, was carrying the bass line which he does any time the bass is singing lead. And everybody in Pentatonix can sing and sing very well. The beat boxer, Kevin has a great voice and is also a classically trained cellist and works that in occasionally. He invented cello-boxing and is almost certainly the only one in the world that does it so check him out some day too. The cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" is a great place to start.

I not only liked it but I loved it and have taken the words to Heart. The song is about his struggle back from depression, change on the rise getting his passion back having your fire lit. As someone who has bipolar depression I can completely relate to this. He left Pentatonix on very friendly basis because their train schedule was too hectic for him his mother was also sick and he wanted to spend more time with his family in general. T worth lyrics the music says all the same plays all the instruments says all the background harmonies everything

Avi has this amazing deep soulful, velvety tone that can rattle your soul, but he can also sing in a silky smooth, buttery higher range that can make you float on air. And he can switch between the two almost instantly. His voice is just gorgeous and versatile. Oh, plus, he can do OVERTONE SINGING where he basically sings one note while humming another which is really FREAKING COOL (he did it in a few songs on The Sing Off and a few other times, but it's not often). His cover of Wayfaring Stranger is excellent but also his song Quarter Past Four is really good if you like folksy stuff. You gotta check out the Evolution of Music though and Say Something....

You've heard Avi in Hallelujah, and you'll hear him again in Imagine (he sings the first segment). For more Avi, check out his channel for other solo project videos. He has an EP and several one-off videos; my favorite is "Fields and Pier", but you might like his more folky/country songs, like "Sweet Adeline". Definitely check out "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair" with Peter Hollens. (Peter was on the Sing-Off during the second season, the year before Pentatonix. His group did not win, though.) The a cappella rabbit hole you've fallen into is something from which you won't want to escape. This song was quite unlike any of Avi's previous work. It sounds like it could be used in a cinematic drama about a viking raid or the vandals sacking Roman towns. Most of his stuff is either quiet and contemplative, or cheery and a little more boisterous.

Great reaction! Avi is amazing. A little history - Scott, Mitch & Kirstie met as kids doing musical theater in Arlington, TX. They went to the same high school and sang there as a trio. In 2011, they wanted to go on a TV competition show for a capella groups called The Sing-Off, but realized they needed more voices. They found a video of Kevin "cello-boxing" (Kevin is an amazing cellist). A friend told Scott about Avi. The 5 of them met just 2 days before the audition for the show, and they ended up winning the whole thing! After 6 years, Avi decided that he couldn't keep up the touring pace and left the group. There is a video they all made where he talks about the break - link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHTTmJJ9gpuSopI Avi formed a group called The Sequoias, and they have some really good videos out there. My all time favorite Avi video is a duet he did with Peter Hollens Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair. It really shows his range, and the smooth tone of his voice.

Avi is bringing out more stuff. This was his first video of that. And I really liked that, too! (And your reaction videos are just great.)

Be on the look out for Avi. He will be on the rise himself! Loved your reaction. Give a listen to A Light In The Hallway by Pentatonix for some more Avi vocals. Love him!

I don't like it, I LOVE IT TO MADNESS! I've been a fan of him since the beginning of Pentatonix and he has morphed into such a unique artist and I'd gladly be part of his cult. I find his music speaks to our root chakra and it makes us feel grounded. If you had ovaries, they would be shattered by now. Mine are. And I'm a grown woman in my 40's. My 14 year old daughter is also captivated by this. I think that if he had bad intentions(which he doesn't) he could seriously hypnotize us to our death.

i loved it. Avi has just over 3 octave range... and one of the smoothest basses ive heard. Hey Ya! by avriel & the sequioas (avi kaplans new group i think) is pretty awesome too. wait till you see him and Tim Foust in the version of ring of fire that Avi does with home free.

You should react to ‘Black is the Colour of My True Love’s Hair’ by Peter Hollens and Avi Kaplan. It really showcases Avi’s bass singing
