Avi did a lot of the arranging for PTX when he was with them. Kevin has said Avi has an amazing ability to hear sound spaces. He is a basso profoundo trained in opera, also a co-founder of the A Capella Academy. These guys do know their stuff, awesome reaction!

He IS amazing, isn't he? I was sad to see him leave PTX, but am so happy that he now has the time to write and produce his own music. And he actually did all the vocals...he's a huge talent. And...that voice! So glad you saw, liked and reacted to it :)

I feel like Johnny Cash is looking down right now and saying "Yep, now I have someone to pass my torch on to." 😁 Avi was always the spiritual, deep-thinking one of Pentatonix, and the solo stuff he does now is closer to the 'real him,' if you see what I mean. After listening to his solo stuff, when you go back to listening to Pentatonix's original songs you can pick out lyrics from them that make you go "Yeah, that part's Avi, for sure." His lyrics are never trivial or 'commercial' - they've always got layers of deeper meaning.

I’m sure this was mentioned in some of the requests for this song, and it seems appropriate to say it for anyone who hasn’t heard this before: Avi sings all the parts on this (and I think in all his recent releases, including that low growl. I’m so tickled that you liked this! Everything you said about Avi is absolutely true. One of the many things I love about Avi’s music is that each one is very different from the other. To me, that is just another side of his genius. We may have gotten some of this music if he’d stayed with PTX, but now he can focus on his own work at his leisure. Thank you for reacting to this powerful song.

Avi loves to teach and has often gone to different college acapella choirs to help them and teach them how to arrange their music., and is also a co-founder of the A Capella Academy that has many students during the summer. He often holds fundraisers to provide money to sponsor every student that can not afford to pay.

he is, but was raised on Folk and is a huge contributor to the Americana movement, which is classic American music inspired covering Spiritual, gospel and folk music as their main influence. Opera gave him his range and breath control, which blesses everything he sings.

Avi also teaches (and helped establish) the Acapella Academy, mentoring a new generation. He's an amazing artist, and glad to know you enjoyed that. His 'Quarter Past Four' and 'Field and Pier' are more introspective, but so beautiful, 'Get Down', his most recent, is more, I'd say folk, and he has a really fun take on Hey Ya, with the Sequoias. Oh, and gain, gotta see him do "Black is the Color of My true Love's hair'. The range is ridiculous, but he also keeps a beautiful tone too.

Thanks for the reaction. I saw him on his solo tour this summer and his whole show was original music with one cover of House of the Rising Sun. His music is eclectic but somehow so completely Avi that you just fall under the spell of it and never want him to stop singing. He's doing 5 shows in Europe in January and just posted that he is writing in Holland Park in London right now. I don't know who with but I really look forward to whatever comes out of this. Avi composes choral music as well and I heard some unpublished work that just gave me goosebumps. I bet he ends up doing some movie or tv sound scores in the future.

I love get down. But it aint nuttin’ like this song. This one is so outside of Avi’s folk inspired stuff. I have no idea what to call this style except “Avi”. Heh. As an album, his solo work carries you through so many emotional paths. And such depth about the human spirit, not, like “i love you” “i lost my woman” etc. Just love it.
@Lookinforrealmusic5 жыл бұрын
@@tanyanguyen3704 lol!! That's true. The version of Get Down that was spectacular was that live performance in Houston. He busted loose at the end and the whole place felt like the roof was coming off. The official recording is tame compared to that.

Hallelujah is a biblical song. The story of Sampson and Delilah was told musically. When Sampson turned to Delilah and away from God he lost his power. He had a broken Hallelujah. I felt the holy spirit from Avi in that song and this one. This is a God fearing man. I love that we get to hear that from his beautiful voice.
