I have a 7 year old female Amazon parrot and the former owner clipped her wings. After having her checked by a veterinarian, he told me that you should never clip the 2 outermost feathers on each wing, since they will not grow back, and that her wingspan is not wide enough to make her fly when they are clipped 😞 He told me that unfortunately she will not be able to fly properly ever, but she may be able to take off and glide a little in the air but she will not be able to fly high up in the air since they had cut those 2 outermost feathers on each wing. Can you please confirm if this is correct and if so, is there anything I can do to make her fly?

@@missourihoney Hi Missouri Honey :) Thanks for your reply :) Unfortunately I have now had her 4 months and there is no sign of her being better at flying. She tries once in a while but she can only fly about half a meter then she crashland on the floor, and that has not changed at all after I got her 4 monhts ago. The veterinarian said that if a feather is cut too close to the body you cut the venes so the feather bleeds and allthough it will heal, no new feathers will grow out after the vene has been severed. Once the feather falls off it will stop growining a new at that particular location after that, so those feathers that has bleeded will not grow back ever. He takes care of all the big Ara parrots in our local Zoo so I expect that he is a specialist, but I am still hoping for that he is wrong. Do you have any experience with amazone parrot owners that has accidently cut the 2 outer wings too close to the body so that they bleeded, but yet the feathers grew back after falling off?

I had a ring neck parrot.i pulled wings completely but thay not grow again. I want to know if the wings are removed or pulled can thay grow again or not?.what i have done wrong that thay not grow again?

I will answer you and say yes but you need to fill it up. A few drops will do nothing.

WHY WOULD YOU CUT A BIRDS FEATHERS SEVERALLY. You should never have to take more than 6 outer flight feathers on a conure or most birds. That bird is going to drop like a rock.
