Miles and I are on our way back south, but we can't pass through northern Arizona again without stopping at the Marble Canyon Lodge for a hearty breakfast. This is a 3,700ft-long runway sitting 3,600ft above sea level, so overall not a real challenging airport, but scenic nonetheless!

That crashed airplane was our friends Titan Tornado that veered off the runway while taking off with a left quartering tailwind. I don't know when this video was taken but the accident happened on October 18, 2019. I was there for the incident and nobody was hurt.

Returning from Oshkosh July 2019 my son and I stopped in Page, AZ for sightseeing. Flying Bonanza V-tail P35. Drove to Marble Canyon. The restaurant burned down 2 years ago and was rebuilt completely. Run by local Indian tribe. Excellent food!! Try the Navaho bread. Really good. Just a wonderful place to visit if only for the truly unique vistas. Ran into a lot of French tourists for some reason. They were ecstatic over the desert views.

Cherokee is a great bush plane ! I'm surprised that there's no more low wing planes in backcountry in USA. Here in France, most of our planes suited for mountain flights are low wings, mostly Robin DR400, Jodel D140, Socata Rallye aaaaand... Cherokee ! I hope one day you'll cross the Atlantic and come fly here (and make some video) in our mountains, in France, like Alps and Pyrénées (more savage than the Alps) and try some our DR400 and Jodels 😁😀😀

Chartered a plane for the day out of Moab with the pilot being the former Head Ranger at Grand Canyon NP. Spent seven hours seeing the 'Big 6' National Parks from a couple of thousand feet. Bucket list thing for me, worth every dollar. We stopped at Marble Canyon for lunch, seeing this vid brought great memories. I have to say that taking off directly over the canyon at the end of the runway was pretty exciting.

Really sad to see "The Shoe" (Horseshoe Bend), become such a tourist attraction. It used to be such a peaceful spot. Unfortunately, with the closing of the coal fired power plant (shown at 8:30 in the video), the Indians will need to find alternative forms of revenue and I'm sure a gift shop will be just the beginning...

Never do a power off landing in this country. Fly it to the ground. In, 1956 Art Green owned Cliff Dweller Lodge at Marble Canyon. I was the helper for a geologist . We flew to Cummings Mesa near Navajo mountain. Spent thirty days there, prospecting for uranium. It is surrounded by a 2000 foot ledge. One mule trail in from Rainbow Lodge. Shaped like a three fingered hand. We hiked every rim. Lots of indication of human habitation. The museum curator at Flagstaff said the pottery chips I had were 300-500 years old now, I believe they were more like 10,000 years old . He was probably a Mormon. Iguana

Hey man, love your videos. I go to a school called Moody Aviation in Spokane Washington, where students receive their A&P as well as private and commercial certs with instrument. Our training prepares us to serve in organizations that fly in the remote jungles of South America, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Africa, as well as Alaska in support of missionaries. Typically flying emergency medical evacs in those areas as well as humanitarian aid apart from missionaries. It’s a 5 year program, and in our 5th year the class does a 2 week extended cross country trip where we split in 2 groups with one group taking 2 206s into the Idaho mountains and the other group taking 2 182RGs down the west coast through tall the Bravos. We meet up in Salt Lake and spend the weekend, switch airplanes and go the other way. Being able to experience back country flying and get mountain flying experience was awesome and some of the most valuable flight experience I have gotten so far. If you ever get a chance you should visit the school, it’s an awesome place with top notch training from highly field experienced instructors. You’d love it. We also get our tail wheel in a fairly modified 185 which is pretty sweet. Anyway, I enjoy your videos a lot. Keep it up.

It’s interesting to me that you say “zero three” for the runway you are landing on at Marble Canyon. In this case it’s not painted on the runway but if it was it would be 3 and not 03, but in ForeFlight it is in fact listed as 03. I’ve just never heard anyone announce it that way. Not necessarily wrong, but I’ve always heard runways like that just announced as 3.
