In USA most VFR flying is done without Sids or Stars, not necessary to use Airways even. Just fly from uncontrolled airport to uncontrolled or Delta tower. Use pilotage and dead reckoning, wind correction etc. is where irl training starts, then gps or navaids. Good idea to follow vfr training training syllabus.

1:22:20 You’re not wrong. There is a a couple freeware C172 realism mods that totally change the way it flies. It feels significantly more like flying the real thing. Both of the mods are great by themselves, but they work even better together. If you haven’t seen them, I’d highly suggest downloading them. The mods also change both the steam gauge and the G1000 versions.

Thank you very much for this video! Although I don't fly on Vatsim, the procedures are almost the same. But I have a question: I use P3D v4, and performing VFR flights is difficult because not all visual references are captured in the simulator, despite having the ORBX products (vector, global, OpenLC). Therefore, navigation becomes complex to the point of having to use VOR radials (but not flying only with radio beacons, obviously) Thank you very much again!

Hallo, another question, I hope it’s okay :-) I’ve found that not quite all airports have ways to fly the circuits (maybe it’s me who can’t find them) in this situation do I make my own or what?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 2 ай бұрын
There's usually a standard circuit pattern for airports, could be defined per country. In the AIP of the Netherlands you can find the standard circuit which should be used when no specific circuit is published for an airport :)

So in The Netherlands, push and start is NOT at pilots command like in North America? You need specific clearance to start?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
For VFR you need startup clearance at controlled airports here, but not at uncontrolled airports. For IFR in general you contact Planner/Startup/Delivery for startup clearance and Ground for pushback

Seems Vatsim has no VFR ATC service, it's done by yourself. Why not use PilotEdge to do the VFR with real ATC, hope you can do one tutorial with PilotEgde VFR.
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
You sure can! Some smaller airfields may not be online on VATSIM much, but you can still fly VFR to more national airports. Also some regions may have VFR events every now and then too :)

If one wanted to fill in the flight plan with heights (as you were discussing airspace height restrictions) I can see that navigraph does not have a field for this, would you suggest another tool? Does simbreif work with VFR? How about little nav map? Cheers
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
There are other tools like little nav map or Plan-G. I’m not entirely sure, but I think at least the latter comes with that ability. Simbrief is primarily an IFR tool, unless you somehow create custom waypoints but that can be rather cumbersome.

What if there isn’t airport ATC online, do I just ask Center if they’re online, for taxi, take off and landing etc? If it is normally a controlled airport
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
In most cases yes, but a center controller might decide not to cover every single controlled airport in their coverage, since it could get too busy

@AviationPro

There will be a VFR flight live in the future. However, for recording a phraseology tutorial this was a better option, also to include all the frequencies which would be active during a VFR event (events which I’m not always able to join myself).

but what about navigate without GPS ? is that even possible with a Cross - country flight like this with winds and stuff going on. feels like u whould be complete lost after a while :P
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it was used here just as a reference. Without GPS you create a navigation log with waypoints you pick on your big VFR chart and then include tracks and speeds to reach those waypoints. The rest is just looking outside and recognizing landmarks

I am sure I am too stupid. I do not get what I have to do with the QNH information. On an analogue altimeter is the QNH the left number that I have to enter? I watched several tutorials but I do not get what to do with this QNH
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
You have to enter the QNH value in the altimeter. In Europe they use milibars (mb) for that as measure, so you use that scale to put it in. In the US they use inches of mercury (inHg) and you will hear in an ATIS a value like 'altimeter 29.92'. Then you use that scale to put it in ;)
@thomas_ger4098
@thomas_ger4098 Жыл бұрын
@@AviationPro so my understanding is that the left scale can be used for the QNH value. So that means I turn the knob until the left scale shows me the number of the given QNH. The crazy thing about this is that I set the scale to the given QNH value but the altimeter showed me that I am at a level below zero standing in the parking position. I wonder if I have to set up anything additionally in Microsoft Flight Simulator?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro Жыл бұрын
@@thomas_ger4098 It should work like that yes. Of course the weather needs to actually match the QNH value otherwise it doesn't make sense putting a wrong QNH in. Airports below sea level will naturally show below zero altitudes. When you put the QNH in you should see the elevation of the airport on your altimeter. The altimeter is just a barometer, that's all :)
@thomas_ger4098
@thomas_ger4098 Жыл бұрын
@@AviationPro OK fine so I will do another testing this evening. And I will check if the airport Karlsruhe lies below sea level. Thank you for your support and your great tutorial videos.
