After all this time, we're back in the familiar territory of the Bleeding Sun story. Functioning as a spiritual successor and distant prequel to Godhunter, "My Church" takes a look at the rise of a charming southern cult leader who starts with a small following and slowly corrupts and entrances them with promises of salvation in the end times. Obsessed with his visions of the future and dreams of ruling the ashes after a coming war, no cost is too great to build The Elder's promised congregation.

Lyrics:
Wild fire calls me to the madness that I seek
We've seen bold things that our storied hearts will keep
Who am I to deny the ascension of man
When I alone could bring it on with my healing hands
Don't mourn what's left in the burning states behind
You've come this far if you've opened up your mind
To a new rebirther
So take it one step further
Where the rivers meet the coming red tide
I got miracles for those on my side
In the willows I built my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
Newfound faith that's vested in me
Now our bloody hands will heal the unclean
In the wastes I raise my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
Some say we're doomed in the heart of our belief
Death stilled their lips and maintained the peace we keep
Now I've seen in a dream that I'm destined for a throne
Once I've conquered the cage of this flesh and bone
Accept what's kept in reaches of your soul
Cut off your will and leave the guilt you hold
Give it all to the rebirther
Let's take it one step further
Where the rivers meet the coming red tide
I got miracles for those on my side
In the willows I built my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
Newfound faith that's vested in me
Now our bloody hands will heal the unclean
In the wastes I raise my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
My church, yeah
My steeple
My church, yeah
My people
No, I've come too far
To give up on faith
When it's all my own creation
Bow down, face to the floor
I can heal you soon
When you've blurred your mind's foundation
It's too late for the rest now
But it's never too late for you
I'll share the truth
The end will come and take us
And the sun will bleed us dry
My church renewed
As promised soon
Where the rivers meet the coming red tide
I got miracles for those on my side
In the willows I built my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
Newfound faith that's vested in me
Now our bloody hands will heal the unclean
In the wastes I raise my steeple
My spirit, my church, my people
My church, yeah
My steeple
My church, yeah
My people

@LostToaster
@LostToaster Ай бұрын
This song is as anti-religion as it gets, though I do hope your pastor was able to hear past the upbeat rhythm and understand the warning it gives throughout. “Some say we're doomed in the heart of our belief Death stilled their lips and maintained the peace we keep” Nothing would be cooler than a pastor openly acknowledging the danger blind faith represents, and the way it can justify the worst of acts in its defense. After all, if you offer faith as a foundation of stability upon which people in despair can build their lives, you’re responsible for what they’ll do once someone else questions it, and they have no answer to give.

This song is absolutely perfect for one of the antagonists of the D&D campaign I run. Ahbus, The Good Doctor. A demigod, patron of the innocent, the downtrodden, and the less fortunate. He believes in helping people through your own power, and so despises magic as well as clerics. He forges new life through the death of the oppressors and criminals, those he deems *unclean*. All through healing fire.

How is that an antagonist?
@--Cat--
@--Cat-- 2 жыл бұрын
@@peter_kitsune Interestingly enough, my players didn't see him as one either. Until they realized that the unclean was everyone from the Incompetent and classist king, to a lowly pickpocket. Ahbus would try kill *any* criminals and oppressors. That actually included the rouge of my party. Eventually it got to the point where he was planning to secede. "In the willows I will raise my steeple, my spirit, my church, *my people* ". He had jumped immediately into action, instead of finding a peaceful solution. This again put him at odds with the party. He wasn't a villain, but he was certainly an antagonist.
@olegkuvsincikov8817
@olegkuvsincikov8817 2 жыл бұрын
@@peter_kitsune An antagonist is simply someone who opposes the protagonist. As for the question you're actually asking : how does this make him evil or a villain? 'the path to hell is paved with good intentions'. As Cat described, he is willing to perform a cleansing of anyone that has done anything wrong. Not only is that disproportionate, but the cult like methods are not going to lead to a better society in the long run. Not only is he doing evil things in the band of good, his ways are going to cause even more harm, which in my eyes easily makes him a villain.

Been listening to your work for a few years now, but recently I've become enthralled with the series of albums and songs telling the tale of the Bleeding Suns, it's a tapestry of music and storytelling all wrapping together to create one masterpiece! Can't wait to see where you take it next, sir!

As always, the art is awesome and compliments the song so well. I especially like the way the lyrics were done with the chorus being in front of the person's hand like he was casting them or preaching them out. This is definitely one of my favorites on this album!

I love this song, but I can't listen to it properly cuz the tone shifts in it are similar to my mom's voice when she's calling my name, so I keep thinking she's calling me.
