Wow, what a game. I've been waiting for Elden Ring for a long time, and not JUST so I could write songs about it... Yet it didn't disappoint in the slightest. The Soulsborne style of storytelling has inspired me once again, this time with a powerful anthem of perseverance in a world abandoned by divine will. More music will be coming soon, with this song appearing on Modern Mythology releasing May 6th!
(I'm still playing Elden Ring with the group password AVIATORS, join the group so I can see all your bloodstains everywhere!)

Lyrics:
To dawn
We've gone
Adrift with the resolve to carry on
When the climb is steep
And the days are long
We rise
All rise
Our fight
Burns bright
From filth we ascend to the tree of life
The lowly empowered in faith unite
We rise
All rise
So far
We are
The hope scattered among the fallen stars
The last note played on an old guitar
But we rise
All rise
With hearts
Of thorns
We're matched with the will of the royal born
To stave off the fall of a house that's torn
We rise
All rise
We will die again
Where the oceans end
Over and over
In the dragon's fire
We will testify
Shoulder to shoulder
In the lands between
Spirits sharp and clean
Mused with a purpose
Through the scarlet mist
For the maidenless
We rise unburdened again
We rise again
We bled
Instead
Of giving ourselves to the void of death
Accepting the power for a final breath
We rise
All rise
To yearn
And burn
With frenzy and flame to the rights we've earned
In face of the falsehoods and secrets learned
We rise
All rise
Though some of us won't make it back
We're following into the black
Unknown for a long lost throne
We rise again
Where others might look for escape
These lights in the dark search for grace
Once lost
To a blood-soaked cause
We will rise
Through battlefields scarred by the gods
We're striving no matter the odds
When nothing can hold back the tide
We rise, we rise, we rise
All rise
Though graceless and exiled
We're loyal the same
Returning to roots through the
Worst of our pain
When kings rise against
Have it writ on their grave
The old gods were felled
By a mortal unnamed
Our eternal struggle echoes to the past
We rise, we rise
So even if only to fall then in ash
We rise, I will rise

The line with "mortal unnamed" feels so satisfying. This song really strikes a different tone than Aviator's previous souls-inspired work Where they've typically spoken of cursed fates, here they speak of something much more ambitious, optimistic even. A lyric of lights, bold and bright in the darkest hour of the very world itself
@WaluigiIV
@WaluigiIV 2 жыл бұрын
I would say that pretty well describes how Elden Ring differs from the souls titles. Elden Ring is a story of a dying world, just as the souls games are; however, unlike the souls games there is hope. There is a sense of optimism and hope that is not present in any souls game before. Where in dark souls you were to "rekindle the fire" (to force the dying world to continue living) in Elden Ring you are to "repair the elden ring, and undo what the shattering wrought" (Return the world to its former glory, fix the mistakes which led it here). It is a story that is inherently hopeful, and it is up to the player how and where they take this hopeful story.

I love it because of the line that comes before "When kings rise against have it writ on their graves" That the kings rose against the gods under the cry "The old gods were felled by a mortal unnamed" That, this mere unknown, unnamed mortal defeated the gods, they have names, they have something, if a man with nothing beat the gods, then surely they could, surely they could accomplish anything I don't know much about dark souls lore, but it is powerful nonetheless

Yes, but at the same time no. Because based on the lore of the games, we're defeating enemies that are at their "decadent state". On the other hands, our character has the power/potential to increase his power (be it with souls, blood, runes or other elements). So we're definitely not a normal "mortal unnamed", even more if you consider that there is nothing in the game that keeps us from increase the power of our character to heigth way above our enemies.

I know people Adore the Line "When kings rise against have it writ on their grave. The old gods were felled by a mortal unnamed" But can we talk about that Final Line? "Our eternal struggle echoes to the past, We rise, We rise. So even if only to fall then in ash, We rise, We Rise, I will rise" It's sounds So Nihilistic, paralleling the rest of the song's more optimistic words, That all their struggles, powerful yet futile like those before will be for nothing but death, their one wish. And the touch of Changing the Final line to I will rise instead of WE will rise, makes it sounds like all those Tarnished who initially rose up to restore the Elden ring, all but one gave up, and succumbed to their fate.

"when kings rise against have it writ on their graves" I know plenty of people are talking about this line, but mostly they're talking about the full line ("the old gods were felled by a mortal unnamed") but I love that this part of the line specifically implies such a direct line. Like, when anyone, even kings, rise to stand against us, the only next step for them is death. No matter what, we will invariably slay any foe that even dares to get in our way. So badass

I've only recently discovered you, as in, about 6 hours ago, but i've perused your videogame inspired music and noticed a pattern i don't remember seeing before on other artists i've listened to. How vague your lyrics are. They speak of a struggle, or a journey that those who know can feel, but it's vague, not pointing fingers, not showing you what it is, so that should you not know what it is, can still feel the journey conveyed. I've listened to most of your souls-inspired songs, and i've yet to hear one where you mention someone's name, whether important or not. Same with this song, you could have at any point snuck in the word Tarnished, or any character's name, and it would've painted it as nothing but Elden Ring, but you didn't, so even though the song is about elden ring, it's vague enough to be a journey for those who don't know. I appreciate this type of writing. I really do. It's incredible. Thank you for giving me a large library of incredible music to fall in love with.

Good track.Hey,I'd like to ask a couple of questions: 1) Do you make music by yourself or do you have any assistants? 2)Do you find to difficult to find inspiration and write lyrics? 3) Why "Aviators"?(if it's too personal, you don't have to answer) 4)Do you have any favorite songs that you have already created? P.S: Sweet dreams are orrated.

Actually, yeah I'm intrigued on the name Aviators too. I like to think it's cause of the aviator sunglasses he has on in the pfp, but I could be wrong.

@@venandisicarius32 he has said before on stream that (and this is paraphrasing from memory so i could miss some details here), something like that he was an "edgy 14 year old" who always wore aviators, people starting calling him "aviators" irl, then that became his nickname for stuff including music.

I absolutely LOVE how the tempo(?) of the song. It almost feels like a ballad being passed down from person to person. Also is it just me or is the rhythm kinda unique. Like it doesn't sound like your typical 4/4 or even 3/4 which imo makes the song sound even more unique. If I had to compare it to something it probably sounds the closest to "to the grave"(ironically another aouslborne inspired game)

From what I can tell the music is in 6/4 time but the lyrics have a really interesting call-and-response pattern that sounds more like 2/4 time than anything else. It’s really interesting and somehow works incredibly well.
@betholiver4742
@betholiver4742 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's definitely a call-and-respond pattern. I can't fully place the time signature. But it's also slower than your typical call-and-respond rhythms. The best example I can give is listening to military cadences then this song. Any cadence is actually more like a jog than a steady walk, if this makes any sense.

The old gods were felled by a mortal unnamed", but i want to point out that "We're striving no matter the odds When nothing can hold back the tide" is, for me, fu****ng awesome and represent perfectly how we all traveled through the game. thank you and Congratulations for this masterpiece

When I saw the notification, I immediately took a listen to it and wow what a great track of redemption. To rise and conquer monsters is how a warrior does in Elden Ring. This is giving me some great vibes from Let There Be Fire album but in a more calm way. It is quite brazen that the music of madness continues. We will rise from the grave to a glorious world.

These songs are a huge part in why Fromsoft games are so supremely important to me - this ballad of the emotions the game presents on you just makes the journey feel that much more grandiose, and they all make me want to keep fighting no matter what the odds are. Thank you for making these, Aviators! also "The old gods were felled by a mortal unnamed" goes hard as BALLS

The old gods slain by a mortal unnamed... one with no name, guided by grace, destiny, or some other far more sinister outer god... perhaps a chorus, legion, or even many many more than that... the nameless tarnished had nothing, and thus nothing to lose... hence, they had nothing but to gain...
