Emerald Ivy
Wrapped around my skin
Pulls me deeper
Drags me back again
Tangle me up
In your vines
Take my spirit take my mind
Take me over to that other side
Ruby river glowing in the sun
Wash me over
Show me where you run
Roll me deeper in your tide
Take my spirit take my mind
Take me over to that other side
Silver moonlight
Come show me the way
Hold me over til the break of day
Lead me closer to your light
Take my spirit take my mind
Take me over to that other side

And having just binged like six of his solo videos just now, I can FEEL how much he thrives in Natural places. It's like it's a part of him. He wasn't himself with PTX. He was brilliant of course, but I feel like he was used as a "Whoah check out that bass!" sort of trick pony. He was rarely featured actually singing. He needed this. Ah... the ambience! Silver moonlight shining down to show him the way...and that mist, like creeping ghosts. So beautiful. So haunting, yet peaceful. I relate to this. For the past two years I have lived with the slow struggle to heal from cancer surgery, often giving up. When I heard this, I found new hope. I needed to make it through to that "otherside." I was still alive and realized that God simply wasn't finished with me. I am a shut-in, unable to do the things that healthy people do. But I can still pray and there is power in prayer... and so I pray every day for my family and for those like Avi that God lays on my heart in the moment. You might never see this Avi but thank you for this song and for the many others you have shared that touch the souls of all who find you and listen. I can truly say that your voice is flawless...the purist I have ever heard...incredibly powerful yet so soothing when it needs to be... and your lyrics are gold. I feel fully blessed to have found your music and that breathtaking voice that sings it. It is a healing gift. I love your kind and humble soul and you will always be in my prayers as you take your wonderful music out to share with the world.

@@c.myesska1798 I feel like it has a double meaning. Literal reference in the song but inferred reference to Chakras because Avi has anxieties and was overwhelmed by the fast pace of PTX. He's an avid nature lover and practices the Jewish faith. So I see the red as a focus on his sense of belonging, career and money mindset, the yellow tones for his personal power, the green for love, joy and self acceptance and the silvery blue as a combination of self expression and connection to the divine. He's in a meditation pose throughout the song which nods to the whole "know thyself" introspective healing type stuff. Even the oooo's feel like primal screams or as Patrol Gaming commented he thought it sounded like a wolf howl. No matter what, it's soothing and thought provoking.

Yeah, I was writing a comment and the red smoke caught my eye, not sure of what I may have missed. If I wanted to presume my impressionable guess: I think the red smoke (smoke crossing an open fire - staying with the outdoor theme here) could be anything unrest or stressful; green being the same mist over greenery (have seen it happen but as a very, very pale green being tranquil; and the white most being some kind of middle ground. That's the vibe I get. Edit: another commented that the red and green smoke representing the human chakras which two of them are. I went back and watched it and makes perfect sense. Mr. Kaplan, I have followed you since the competition that brought Pentatonix to the front. You have been someone I admired and emulated to rebuild my voice. "All Is Well" and many of your recent videos moved me. Thank you for continuing to bring your own type of shine.

I believe we've all heard the terms "pop", "soul", and "blues". Right? Well, these are three of the most known and listened to music genres, regardless of time or culture. However, none of it applies to Avi. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'm able to compare him to any artist or genre that I know of (and music is what I do for a living, I should add). I don't even know when or if you'll ever read this comment, my good man. But I strongly believe that you're creating an entire new style and sound that is unlike anything ever created. You're singing with your heart and guts, Avi, and I believe this is felt by the majority of listeners, judging by the hundreds of comments that aren't just flattering you in vain, but giving some very well earned credit. I never say these words lightly, but you TRULY are an inspiration in countless ways. Thank you, Avi. You've done so much good that you probably don't even realize, and it's because you followed your heart. ♥️

I agree with you 100%. His music is beyond a description or genre. It's soul touching and so heartfelt, it draws you in and makes you feel. Add in the emotion you feel in his voice and just wow. I hope he reads your comment since from what I have read and heard from him that it's what he wants for his music is your reaction to it.

I suffer from severe asthma, COPD, and Panic Anxiety Disorder (unable to work for five years). This man grounds me, his music speaks to me in a way that has saved me from dosing up on Valium and other drugs like you would not believe. Avi, if you read this, thank you, Your voice has a magic to it that makes people think there is something more than the here and now and that we are more than our physical embodiment.

Thanks for reminding me of the channel's name. I would have given it a shout out if I would have been able to remember it at the time. Welcome to the Pentaholics (PTX fandom) and to The Kaplan Camp or Cult of Kaplan (not sure if there is a name for the Avi fandom yet but I like those so you can take your pick.) The day Avi Kaplan went from freaky Bass circus stunt to become an amazing singer. Don't get me wrong, Avi's bass are amazing, but for a long time everybody compared the three big bass singers from the current acapella scene while their singing beside the bass was forgotten. With this Avi step up on the top step and sing with the best singers out there.
