Glad to see you're one if the few reviewers who can contain their 'new toy' excitement and objectively cover all the snags. Also interesting to see how they reinforced some of those weak points with thin plastic. I've put carbon fiber rods under the control horns on some of my models to spread the load as I tend to fly hard and soften the foam but that looks like a better idea.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
I use ID card plastic in the same way. Tiny control horns in foam is not god enough.

11 minutes with a 3000mah? Wow, you really know how to squeeze the flight times out of your batteries. I know the big wheels cause drag but that's a big difference. The Bushmule is a fantastic plane. I have so much fun with it. Its a keeper imo.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Yes good fun. I will keep experimenting with wheel and do a proper comparison.

Nice looking plane. Very good tips, MODs, and transmitter programming for this plane ;-) It's a shame so many factory planes need these fixes and MODs and that's been my experience with factory planes as well. I can't wait to see it fly.

I put one of these planes together for a work mate. Mind you he's never flown RC planes before. I told him several times to buy a volantex ranger as it's more a beginner plane. Anyway he ignored my advise as the Bushmule has all the bells and whistles on it. He's first flight he crashed it upon take off, then he had to buy parts to fix it and now he's too scared to fly it again. After several " I told you so's" I'm still at him at getting a ranger lol

i also got it a month ago, i fly a 2650 4s battery and total weight of 2kg, i like a more rear cg as it wont change pitch as much when its more nose heavy, it only tips backwards half the time when standing still but i dont care. planning to add flight stabilization for more wind handeling and a better cargo drop bay so nothing gets stuck while dropping also a big li-ion battery would be nice for flight time flights

thanks for posting. some thoughts. since it's a stol airframe, the wing is high-lift, all the time; with more than typical drag. flying over-fast will use More power. maybe, swinging the scale props just takes a lot of power. adding Any Weight, even that of a strip of tape, to the Tail should be done Knowing that it Adversely affects a model's Distribution of Mass. as does the aft-installed servo/s. cheers

Good vid. If you have differential power, why not make the front wheel a simple free castor? Then, no need for a steering servo which will obviously use some power.

Yes, I did think of that too. Great suggestion Freddie

Great informative video . Can you recommend elevator percentage for when flaps are deployed into takeoff mode and landing mode as I assume there’s going to be the bubbling effect happening when the flaps are deployed. Thank you

I think 10% is what I ended up with.
@makantahi37315 жыл бұрын
why it is so heavi-2250 g?, it has big drag because of rough surface of stirofoam, if it would be covered by smoot cover it would fly with less needed power

andrew, you talk about having the differential thrust on a switch for taxing on the ground right, how do i set up an on off switch on the frysky i6?

Hey Andrew, what about some floats instead of bush wheels???
@leemaples18066 жыл бұрын
It looks like a good candidate for floats on the bottom. Also, could it,would it run `better` on 6S?
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
It has plenty of power on 4S, I rarely went over 1/2 throttle.

Hi Andrew, should carry a 6 amp Lipo I would have thought..?...Tell me the Prop hubs are not the split collet type..? I love the big 3 blade props, but Im guessing decent two bladers will be more effective, and easier to balance.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Not collet but the prop shaft is thinner than other bolt-ons, and no washers only a small nut supplied. I will change to two blades just to smooth out the vibrations.

Hi Andrew Just curious if two smaller 4s batteries say 1800mah in parallel would be a good option for longer flight time ...I know it would add more weight but I don't think it would be too significant
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Tried 2 x 2200 4S but the extra weight pushed up the current draw a lot. Will test some more.
@k4jsteward6 жыл бұрын
Question for you if you have time. Could you parallel 2 batteries for longer flight time? It looks like you could carry a tank with it. Great video, Thanks
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Yes that would be no problem. It can carry weight easily.

the main issues with mule are two things the wing root is to small so It makes it want to snap and drop a wing a slow speeds and the fuse is to big and wind pushes it from the sides making it very unstable in the wind
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Still a great plane to fly if you use common sense.
@2007crf450r6 жыл бұрын
I would call it an ok plane not a great plane just keep plenty of airspeed because they will tip stall without any warning

I've still to maiden mine (got it for xmas!) but I've read that there are a few brown-out issues on 4s due to the 4A total capacity of the ESC BECs (2A each) .. have you set up a separate BEC to power your receiver, or are you using the stock setup? Mine is still stock but I'm on 3s so hoping it will be adequate.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
No problems so far just using the stock ESCs but I'm never going to push it too hard. Happy to trust HK designers on the power supply for this one.
@loc47256 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Newton Brave man. In my experience HK kit + high current draw is a bad combination and is one of the reasons I prefer the ARFs.

Hi Andrew! At first I must say I enjoy your videoes very much, and when I discover that you have a blog and a whole lot of things going at the web, I'm really impressed. I'm very curious about this BushMule in connection with FPV. But as you say in this video the model has very limited flight time. Is there any other way to increase the flight time than reducing the drag, I like those big wheels very much, for instance bigger battery??? Happy flying! "Sev"

I was very disappointed by the stall characteristics when I flew mine. When it stalls, it will snap into a spin with no warning, and no indication of the direction, either.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
I have had one or two small scares but easy recovery. High wing loading I guess.
@GunganWorks6 жыл бұрын
Yep. For a go-anywhere STOL aircraft, it has extremely high wing loading. In fact, it weighs 3x more than a similarly sized scratch built model.
